No Fleetwood Mac, two of the most important members of the band were American. Also, The Jimi Hendrix Experience is by all means a british band… except that Hendrix himself was American. So yeah, can’t count ‘em either.

In terms of the British, The Kinks are the most British band.
I think they. were so interesting and cool! But just the songs like Penny Lane and many other by the Beatles were and are perfectly British!
And motörhead is the least

Very good list. Being a prog rock fan I would have liked to see in your list "Yes" and "Alan Parsons Project". Aside from that maybe "Coldplay" should have been there. All in all, I like your list, particularly that you included some of my favorites that other lists do not include like "Supertramp" and "Duran Duran".

Depeche Mode is really underrated here and in most rock forum due to their eletronic influences...they are too much influential, should be at least in top15.
Pink floyd is my favourite band, but i agree that The beatles are the greatest.

❤MUSE is so underrated. Matt Bellamy's vocal powers are out of this world. That's quite injustice. Sunburn♡, Bliss, Starlight, Hysteria, Supremacy.. are only few examples to good songs. Muse is unique and it's still an active band.❤ (You should watch some voice analysis. In Micro Cuts he really goes to high pitch sound)
To be honest it's pathetic Muse isn't included on this list. They are known to be one of the best live bands out there, and Knights of Cydonia basically has a legendary status in the rock community by now.

Def Leppard should be way higher than #48. I would have them switch places with the Verve
Obviously, we gave the world the best music, but what strikes me here is that our bands have so many interesting characters. Ginger Baker, Jarvis Cocker, Keith Moon, the Davies brothers, Marc Bolan, Johnny Rotten, Lemmy etc
Quite a few missing here. Coldplay, Muse, Gorillaz, Portishead, Slowdive, Massive Attack, and many more deserve to be on this list.

@@Alekskauff easy: the only way in which i would be happy with floyd in #3, is putting genesis and kc one and two or viceversa. And yes of course would be minimum #4. And supertramp between 5 and 8.

Man...Electric Light Orchestra is really good, but is way tooo high. It hurts to see them above Depeche Mode and Dire Straits.

Deep Purple was more important than King Crimson.
I’m a fan of King Crimson. But they are a bit of an acquired taste. Women don’t like them when they hear them… they are deep prog. Most American rock fans don’t know their stuff.

They marked an era, and had a certain influence on some bands of the time. But to be honest, they weren't very interesting in terms of music, composition, lyrics, creativity, or anything. That's why they only lasted 4 years and then the kids who used to listen to them simply grew up and stopped listening to them.

If it's only to do with music, to each their own. But, if this compilation involves a wider range of issues : iconic, trendy, the influence, impact on the world, society, innovation ecc, definitely Beatles deserve to rank at nr 1. They are History!

I'll go further; Radiohead today is more relevant and influential than Queen, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. You'll see heads explode, but Alternative has been Rock's most important genre for over 30 years, and Radiohead is one of those responsible for that.
I wouldn’t say alt rock is the most important for 30 years but I can see the band being the most influential right now compared to them.
