I think White Diamond modified Pearl as a kind of “sleeper agent” of sorts... something to be activated and used upon her command thousands of light years away from the center of Homeworld. Genius move I say.

Aidan Astronomer we had tons of episodes on pearl but they been mainly on Rose and how much Pearl misses space, but Pearl is still the gem that we know least about, she is a complex character.
Pearls are custom made for their gems. If pearl was custom made for white diamond then she could have been made to keep silent about matters regarding diamonds upon creation. I think we need to revisit how gems are made and what knowledge they have when born, they are created fully grown so they are implanted with knowledge, if so then she could have been implanted with a custom command since she was created to serve a diamond

That could also be the reason why white Pearl has her eye broken. I think that she was defective and not perfect in WD's perspective so WD broke WP's eye to "corrupt" her and make her a complete puppet. To me that also explains why WP walks without moving her feet and why she can pass trough walls (weird ಠ_ಠ)

SliceofOtaku Okay, this is just a theory but, what if Pink diamond shattered Pink pearl and only White diamond knew? I mean that would explain the reactions of Blue and Yellow pearl plus why we never hear of her. It would give White diamond motive for shattering Pink.
Also, even though Pink's entire entourage 'saw' her getting shattered, they may not have actually SEEN it. Most people think that White's power has to do with memories or mind stuff, so she could have just put fake memories in them of Rose shattering Pink because Rose was already an established criminal. From Pearls unique and "fancy" coloring, has anyone noticed she is White, Blue, Yellow and Pink?
Secondly I believe that yes White diamond who is the creator of Gem kind has all the powers of any and all other Gems.

What if...
White Diamond tried to give Pink a life, a chance but Pink was the first and only diamond not created on home world. The first and only "Off color ruler" So White gifted Pink earth as her first colony. However once her fears were relized that an off color even a Diamond was still defective. She shattered Pink in an act of euthanasia. She silenced the true Sole witness, Pinks pearl, Our pearl. (I believe White's pearl was Pinks as well. Pink was young, White may have gifted her own pearl to Pink before hand to keep an eye on Pink as well. Hence the pink diamond on her space suite but the gem placement and pale complection)
If the silencing was out of grief? "Blue and Yellow must never know. They would never understand"

For Yellow whos anger and confusion drove her to deny it was possible.

I think you might be right. I've been thinking Pink Diamond wasn't actually a villain, so you're theory falls in line with my thinking, plus or minus a few things.
There in the chest in lions mane or in the storage in pearl's gem.
The only reason I dont beleive they are in the treasure chest is because for Rose quarts to have kept them meant that they were there for the murder of Pink diamond. To which we know is not true.
If rose Quartz kept them in hopes to restore and revive her diamond would tell of a loyal subject who loved her diamond but durring the court hearing she was already causing trouble and well known for being against Pink Diamond.
The shards are never asked about or brought up in the show. All we know is that she was shattered and that she was nt revived into a corrupt gem. It comes back full circle to the only one who would have bore witness to the whole ordeal. Pink and Whites Pearl.
What if...
White had come to earth to present Pink her pearl as a gift. Of course Pink would come out of her carrage for White Diamond. White diamond would have absolute control over the other gems to send them away. All but Pearl. The sigle pearl we know that bears the clors of all four diamonds.
It was a ruse, a mother beleiving she was putting out of misery a child who had no chance of truely living and rising to meet the glory of her status.
The reason shes not around is she is burried in her guilt, unable to face her other two fellow diamonds. She did not account for how much either one would love their defective sister. And so Instead of completely wiping the memory of that defect, Instead of having her stricken from the walls? She regifts Pinks gems, allows blue to keep the zoo and promises Yellow revenge on the earth with a new weapon trying to appease the two who remain.
But...y'know, its all just speculation of course. We wont really know.
I just dont think that White or Pink were truely bad,
Pink was young and misunderstood, different but loved dearly by those who served her for the most part, her gems were reflective of what I believe her true nature was, Sweet, confused and motherly.
White was a victim of circumstance, A perfect being with a reputation of creating other perfect beings, Pinks actions her blunder of being off color and her inability to quell the resistence in her colony was reflective of White and so she had to remove her. But we all know no Gem is incapable of emotions or empathy, every gem we have seen has exspressed one or the other and this too is reflective of White. I think it was then When White cast away her pearl that Pearl joined Rose quarts.

Can I just say how much I just appreciate Slice Of Otaku and how he makes his videos? He's got GREAT theories, breakdowns, etc., he has great editing (syncing his voice and other character's lip movement and making his character say what he's saying and putting clips to go along with what he's saying), he's interesting and intriguing with the way he speaks, and he makes lots of videos! What if rose was the one to silence her? she knew she would have to give up her form to create steven, and she knew that pearl would be close to him. Pearl was rose's "sole confidant" and knew everything. What if rose didn't want steven to see her like that so she silenced pearl to keep her from telling him all these thing about her and home world.

You did a amazing job with this video, Slice! I like your take on this topic. I may have some different theories by myself about why and how Pearl was silenced, but I really liked how you added in the factor that she's upset because she doesn't have anyone who understands. I pretty much agree with everything else that you said in the video as well!
The only thing I really disagree with is that White may not have actively tried to kill Pearl/Rose because they escaped before she could do so, and so instead they did The Damage of the Diamonds (corruption). Maybe the corruption was her final way of permanently silencing Pearl. I mean, they weren't aware that they had survived that attack, after all. Now they are, so I think that White Diamond will be privy to this and come to the scene very soon to attempt to cover her tracks once and for all.
But regardless, really loved the video! This is such a fun topic to talk about just in general. If you wanna theorize together sometime, let me know!

I have this headcanon that Pearl is White Diamond's pearl, and when Pink Diamond was born, she didn't have a pearl, so White sent our Pearl to earth, with Pink, in order to control the situation and invasion of the earth. At some point Pearl met Rose and we all know what happened.
I also have this idea in my mind that Pink Diamond had something to do with her own death. Maybe she knew Pearl and Rose wanted to shatter her and she didn't do anything about it or even made it easier for them to kill her, who knows? Maybe Pink (in the hypothetical case that she was good and not the horrible person that the Crystal Gems want Steven to believe) thought that her death was the only way to save the earth.

I always found it odd that through out the entirety of Steven Universe Pearl would consistently shut herself up with her hand.
If she was overridden, controlled, or pre-programmed by her creators Not to divulge certain top-secret information to anyone but a diamond or a specific court member then that would make sense.
now here's something that throw a wrench into the works... what if Rose and Pearl were actually trying to stop Pink Diamond (P.D.)'s death and simply arrived too late and were written off as the culprits of the crime? What if Instead of trying to shatter Pink Diamond they instead both wanted to try talking over the situation of Earth and the mistreatment of the humans . Pearl would walk in first to announce Rose and that they wanted to discuss something of importance with her but instead they would both arrived moments after pink diamonds shattering Pearl before Rose and seeing the culprit and being horrified of the scene then Rose would walk in asking what the problem was and based on the angle it would look like rose had shattered P.D. to onlookers. This would be further backed up based on Rose's personality ,status in Pink Diamonds court, and weapons not to mention how P.D. died and Eyeball's explanation of the murder, and in all honesty Rose shouldn't have even had her sword since Bismuth created it for the Gem war. Also Bismuth mentioned that the sword couldn't shatter a gem just cut the light projected form of one . her only other weapon was a shield and that's a defensive weapon.Now if pearl did see who committed the crime and was ordered by someone who had the means to silence her then Rose's first priority would be to save Pearl and get them both to safety, since she would be literally the only Gem that could clear her name of such a crime. Albeit this is a what if scenario but many facts support this.
doom8589 i always thought that maybe Rose and the Crystal Gems weren't against PD maybe PD secretly was a rebel in her views on Earth and that one of the other diamonds probably WD found out about it and decided to shatter PD so she didn't ruin homeworld. Maybe PD was the same way Rose was in thinking that gems should live their own lives and Earth should be left alone, but the other diamonds wanted to keep everything under their control so one of them shattered PD and framed Rose.

The Zircon assigned as Stevens lawyer hit the nail on the head. A lowly Quartz soldier shattering a Diamond doesnt make sense. I doubt even Pearl could have done it. I feel like White Diamond was the one who physically shattered her, and had been planning to for some time, and perhaps it was this conspiracy that caused Pearl to begin to question her Diamond and when she was forced into silence about it, she defected, knowing that what WD was doing was wrong. I also wonder why WD would want to shatter PD, it has to have something to do with the colony on Earth. I wonder if PD even wanted to go through with it after seeing the abundance of life on Earth. If she was as horrible as Garnet made her out to be, why make a zoo to keep humans happy, healthy, and safe? Those humans weren't tortured, they were as naive as children, never knowing hurt. Why keep those Rose Quartz bubbled instead of shattering them if Rose was her enemy? I think Pink Diamond, just like Rose, grew to love the Earth and the beings that lived on it. But she couldn't outright say it. To do so would go against all that the Diamonds stood for, and in the eyes of the other Diamonds, she would be seen as flawed, defective, sentimental. WD must have figured out the truth, possibly through Pearl, and chose to use Rose Quartz as a scapegoat rather than risk an all out war among the Diamonds, especially since Blue and Pink were so close. I think Yellow has some inkling of what happened, and is afraid for Blue, because she is adamant about discovering what actually happened to Pink. YD trying to get BD to move on is her way of protecting Blue from White. She wants the cluster to destroy Earth to get rid of any and all evidence of WDs involvement in PDs shattering. If Blue knew the truth, the Diamond Authority would crumble and there would be war on an even bigger scale than before. Gems would lose hope in their infallible Diamonds and rebel, ending up shattered. It would be chaos. Rose knew this, and chose to embrace being the scapegoat for the greater good of Gems everywhere.

All those little details in past episodes make so much sense now! This was the most interesting part in this new "bomb" anyway but now I'm really excited to see White Diamond (I was that anyways but I'm now more hyped than ever about her). Anyway, I think the next episode HAS to be the Lars of the Stars one. It just adds up. Connie and Steven are now friends again and Lion is back, this bomb ended exactly at that moment. There are no signs of any townie-episodes, we got a preview, the scenes that were missing in the E3 trailer are all the space themed ones and it doesn't make sense to leave Lars hanging any longer.

What if ALL Pearl are not allowed to speak about classified information and share their opinions about that information? Given that pearl are slaves, they must always do as they're are told no questions asked, which may mean pearls are made this why as to not disobey theirs masters. That is to say Garnet would defiantly know about pearl's problem, because sapphire was very high up in homeworld.

What if Yellow Diamond killed Pink Diamond but was ordered by White Diamond. It would explain why she was so sad in "Whats the use of feeling" but also why when Zircon accused one of the diamonds she acted fast

I'm still going to say that it is an in build feature of pearls to not talk about things that could hurt their master and/or Home World in any way. But I hope it is not. As it would make the plot way better.

Great theory I had the same idea that pearl is incapable of talking about the diamonds at least the unknown ones she for some reason can talk about blue and yellow all she wants interesting
