Hi Sylvia, tip for cooking adobo - do not mix after you add the vinegar. Let it boil then you can mix the dish. The reason is the texture of the meat will affect the tenderness. It will become a bit chewy or tough to chew. Anyway, it's good you're learning our dishes and cooking them. And Bokyung, better learn how to cook for you will regret it in your future ..... you'll go hungry! 😉
You may add water if it is too salty while you cook it, it will make the salty taste a bit lower or add a dash of sugar. Bokyung - you are so lovely and don't worry Sylvia, you are always lovable!

You really are adorable.😊 You can adjust the soy sauce to make it less salty. Adobo has no exact recipe and each Filipino family has their own. You can also sear or grill your meat to add smokiness on it and make it a little bit spicy, that's what I do for my adobo.😉
Spicy adobo chicken gizzards is also a bomb.

Usually if you cook it in the morning it'll taste so much better at night.
If you're looking for spicy Filipino food it would be Bicol Express.. Sisig or Kinilaw can be spicy too.

You both did a great job cooking adobo for your first time! It looks so yummy as well! Just a tip: at the end of cooking you can take out the bay leaves before you're ready to eat your delicious dish because the leaves are used only to flavor your food and are not really meant to be eaten. Otherwise, I love seeing you two cooking Filipino foods! You have lots of dishes to choose from, so how about fried lumpia or turon? You can choose the filling. Looking forward to watching more of your cooking vlogs with Bukyong! YOu two are so funny together!😘😍

Filipinos does have a spicy dish. It is called Bicol Express. Originated from Southern part of Luzon, the Bicol Region. Famous for foods with lots of Red hot chili peppers.
    1. Sauté Onion, Garlic and Cracked black pepper. (Shrimp Paste: Optional)
    2. Put the sliced pork with Fat and skin ( 2" x 0.5" x 0.5")
    3. Add water, bring to boil to become tender and let the water evaporate.
    4. Add Coconut milk "Gata"
    5. Sugar and Salt or Fish sauce to taste
    6. Add the Siling Haba (Green Long Chili) thinly sliced, also add Red Chili (sliced) for extra hotness.
    7. Simmer till the Coconut milk slightly evaporated.
    8. Serve and eat with rice

Hi Sylvia!! Enjoyed your video!!! What I do is that I drain the marinate first and put about 2 tablespoon of oil and then I sear the meat first this adds a lot of flavor to your dish then after searing the meat then you add the marinate back into the pan with some water about a cup of water. The water helps to tenderize the meat when it is boiling and when the liquid is about 1/4 left then the meat should be tender.....:) Normally these dishes are on the salty side and you have to eat it with rice. You can also add cut potatoes into the dish so you do not have to eat rice....:) Add the cut potatoes when you add the water and marinate to simmer until tender....:) Enjoy!!!

Another tip tho, after cooking it you can lightly toast the leftover sauce from the pan and then put your rice in it. Easy adobo rice 👌
