When people talk about "It Girls" a lot of people js label any female idol. The very first kpop idol to get that label is Krystal of f(x). After that everyone js started to name any female idol "it girl".
But even though being called an “it girl” wasn’t as trendy as it is now, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t it girls before Krystal.

For It girl status you really need the triple 3 brand deals, commercials and acting. Yoona Krystal, Suzy, IU, Son Naeun, Seolhyun really fit that agenda. You also get invited to speak at award shows or MC.
It doesn't matter if you have lots of brand deals. Being an IT girl means you have a VERY high influence in the fashion industry. It also means setting up fashion trends or just trends in general. Yoona, Suuzy, Son Naeun, and Seolhyun are famous yes BUT they NEVER had this impact in this kind of industry.
Hmm, I'm shocked that CL nor Dara isn't in the list. They kinda lead the fashion especially high fashion industry in their generation along with GD. Although, they don't really embark in ads...

What I like about Hwasa being the IT girl is that although she was not conventionally fit with SK beauty standard, she’s still being sought out by brands and people are wildly following everything she does just based on her personality. People literally bought everything she ate and goes to every place she went. @@Tarikkb I mean… Wonyoung fits most of the Korean beauty standards, has a lot of brand deals and CF’s (and Wonyoung is actually the 4th gen idol with most brand deals), she has been in 2 successful groups and is loved in Korea in general. It’s just international fans like you that don’t like to accept the fact that she is pretty, successful and rich.

When i hear first gen IT girl Lee Hyori comes to my mind. Second gen: Yoona is the first one that vomes to my mind. 3th gen: Jennie 4th gen: Woyoung. But all girls mentioned here were accurate. Each of them had been hugely popular and snatched all the attention at some point. I also remember Dara from 2ne1 being very popular in 2010 tho it was short lived. I remember because she is mentioned in one ep of "secret garden" drama. Trending popular girls were sometimes mentioned in random dramas or movies. Also CL was IT girl among "girl crush" concept lovers around 2010.

For me when people asking me who is the best epitome of the IT girl, i'll definitely choose Suzy, Yoona, Seolhyun, Jennie, Lisa and Wonyoung. These girls have the most highly insane popularity, influential and also such a real trendsetter.

Kim Garam could also have the potential to be one of the 4th Gen's It Girls. Although she has the same vibe of Jennie and Wonyoung in my opinion, her individuality and uniqueness are undeniably admirable. Not including Krystal’s sister, Jessica Jung was literally a crime. Yes Yoona may appeared more on cover magazines or commercials but Jessica was and still is the one with great fashion sense. Yoona and Krystal are both similar but very different personality. It reminds me an a quote from the Great Gatsby movie that’s described Yoona and Krystal. Yoona is Daisy Buchanan “ the golden girl, a breathless warm flow from her.” Krystal is Jordan Baker “Cold, but enjoy to look at.” But I know Krystal is introvert and a warmth heart. These two changed the standard of what to become an “it girl” in the K-pop industry.

2nd Generation IT girls will always be my favorite. Suzy and Seolhyun's explosion in popularity will always be the most memorable to me because were literally everywhere and everyone was dubbing them as their ideal type.
