Kevin was my second instructor in the 2 week long Introduction to Bladesmithing Course I took at the Moran School, in Old Washington Arkansas. His knowledge and ability to impart that knowledge made a lasting impression on me. It was fun to watch this video and it took me back to that time spent with him in 2004. Great job of touching on what goes into the Craft of Bladesmithing!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this on TH-cam! I saw this years ago on PBS and looked for full episodes on TH-cam. I pouted for eons (until now) because there was none. I hope you'll be posting more episodes soon. ❤🌅🌵

Kevin Cashen is a genius and a genuinely great guy. I've talked to him a few times and he's always been the quintessential gentleman, something all too rare anymore.

Very interesting episode, I enjoyed it. My favorite part was how the chevron pattern was created, so cool!

Too cool. This episode has a lot to offer compared to an episode of Forged in Fire (although that show is cool too).

For those of you who saw this and aren't tradesmen like Kevin and the rest of us. The man is a giant in the industry, he is a standard of science many of us hold ourselves against and his work is beyond reproach. So keep this in mind watching this video.

None are beyond reproach, even the greatest craftsman can make mistakes and none can honestly say they have no more to learn.

Keven is still the only smith I know that has a full white room in his forge, but you can not fault his craftsmanship or his dedication. I still have a pattern welded hammer I made from scrap off his shop floor.

Eric, how long in real time did it take to make this sword?

@@vmarc4682 Kevin was quiet and his own person. He was hilarious in speech class when we would have to stand up and start a story and everybody would have to add to the story till the end. Then the class would ask Kevin to finish the story. I still remember Kevin saying " And these to Guy's wound up in the Detroit river wearing cement shoes". Another thing that we can't say anymore in this world. Now if I just remember where I put my car key's.

I'm wondering why you would cringe? Due to the sharpness or the oils from skin?
