Gday Sean - good to see you back at it and well! Thanks for the shout out! I've had my gall bladder removed too, the op was okay but afterwards isnt fun so I hope your recovering is doing well! I've built this one several times and its not one of Tamiya's best to be honest, really only designed to be built wheels down and wings folded out of the box. Would love to see them shrink their 1/32 kit into a simpler 1/48 that can be done inflight! Cheers Chris
@@beckersmodels yeah, I was gonna build this one in flight but after watching your video, I decided against it! I can’t remember if I’ve built the 32nd, I’ve heard that’s a good one.
Sean! So glad to see you back and glad you're on the mend. The only surgeries that "aren't that bad" are the ones that your neighbor has.😆 I built that kit twice recently. Once was extended and marked up like Pappy Boyington and one retracted. Love the F4U
Hi Sean, so glad to hear you are well and feeling more up to giving some more of your wonderful content love to watch your builds they are so inspiring and I have learnt so much from you.
Hey Sean, you are a top man, William absolutely thrilled with his Sean Sip Dedication, you have true fan! Wishing you a speedy recovery buddy best wishes from London and great work on those leading edges they look troublesome!
Oh man sorry to hear about the gall bladder but happy that you are healing up and on the mend. Great idea for the wings on this one as I have battled with those myself on this kit. Can't wait to see how this build turns out.
I built this kit last year and totally pooched the wing fold mechanism, had to bubba a fixed wing solution with lots of putty. Have another in the stash and working up the courage to tackle it again. Glad to see you do this kit, I should learn some useful tips.
I am 100% with you on using CA glue as a filler because waiting for water based filler or other fillers to dry is a real pain, and it has to be rock hard dry to sand out nicely. I must admit I have gone back to using Revell Contacta cement for things like fuselage and wing halves as I have had some failures with thin glue. Maybe its my fault in that I am not getting enough into the joint or its drying too much before the joint is fully closed.
I have a trick with CA that works for me, but it requires some tools. Get a P10 or P20 pipettor from a large online retailer, some small disposable tips. Pull up some CA and you can "inject" it into gaps or seams easily and since it's thin, it flows down into it. Curing time is long enough to do several gaps with one tip. If it doesn't quite add enough to fill the gap you can easily go back and repeat the process. It saves a lot of time sanding and rescribing. I'm doing Academy's 1/32 F-16 right now and with all the panels needing to be closed, it's been helpful for making all the panel lines uniform.
@@jr7392 when I first started modeling, I used thin ca to fill gaps but it always seemed to go where it wasn’t wanted and had a tendency to make a mess
@@seanerk5kt9 Yep and can be invisible too, insuring that you'll glue an appendage to the model sooner or later. The pipettor thing is nice though because it allows for great precision in placement, just thought I'd share the idea. Nice build as always. Tamiyas are a great mojo-saver!
Hi Sean so good to see you posting as i really enjoy your work, great your recovering ok , ops are never easy as we age so i hope you take it easy, is it my imagination or is that coffee cup increasing in size ? best wishes Norm
As many garbage kits that we've watched you turn into masterpieces, it's comical that you had so many niggling issues with a Tamiya kit of all things, LOL. You do love a challenge, don't you? The Corsair was my first love since I was about 9 and the "Baa Baa Black Sheep" series came on TV in the mid-70's (later re-named to "Black Sheep Squadron" when it went into syndication) The Corsair had such elegant lines, and is IMO one of the most beautiful aircraft of its day. I built the 1/48 Monogram kit (with folding wings and landing gear) as a kid, as well as a 1/32 kit of "Lulu Belle" which was Pappy Boyington's rig. I think I'll build another one day, once I clear some other projects and whittle my stash down to size.
@ I’m happy for you and your sobriety. So glad your doing the Corsair as I just got the same kit and will be following along. Maybe you and Uncle Night Shift could do a collaboration build where are you build a tank and he builds an airplane! Just a thought! 😂

I might try a 48. I usually only do 32 but this Tamiya kit is nicely detailed. Hope your feeling well. I made Trump president for you, that should help.😂
