  • In this video, I will go “old school” for modelling! No 3D printed parts or 3D decals! No photo-etch parts! No aftermarket parts made from resin or other materials! 100% old school, with whatever material available! Let’s go old school!

I had to take a two-week break due to problems while I am building another super detail model. I needed a simple and beautiful kit that I could build in those two weeks; and I chose this. Let me point out, this model and the video were finished in two weeks :) It has nothing to do with any other video or channel. Lots of navy aircraft videos will come later. Thanks for watching!

Ahahahaaa! And that, mates, is modeling! Fantasy, inventive, impromptu ideas and a lot of scratch-built details! Otherwise, what's the fun? Don't misunderstand me, today's models are in a whole different cathegory: when i started kit building, they were toys, now they are truly magnificent pieces of work but...i still like turning a decently shaped toy into a true, realistic model. That's is how it all began, after all! BTW, absolutely GORGEOUS results, Scale!!!👋👋👋

In this age of "Short Cuts" in model building. The "Old School" art of "Scratch building" is A Lost Art! To get good at anything
it takes Time, Dedication to whatever you do.....Scratch Building teaches you Size, Proportion, Measuring, Precise cutting and
gluing....Looking at Reference photos and interpreting what you See in the photo and applying it to your model. Such as Wheel well detail, cockpit and engine such as the case with this Corsair. Some may say, "Hey that wire or buckle or conduit
is Not in the proper place" Who Gives a Rats Behind!! REALLY!!!
Get a Life!! This hobby is FUN , Relaxing yes at times Frustrating....But If you can Get out of the "After market Syndrome"
and Expand your building skills and SAVE MONEY?????!!!!! That is a Good thing.
Everyone's Skill Level is Different....Never Compare Your skill level with anyone else's...I would ask the Modeler that i was admiring his or her work, HOW did You do this? All of them said TIME, PRACTICE and PATEINTS!
So who am I to get up on my soap box and Preach this?? Nobody I'm Just sharing my opinion thats all..
I'm Lazy by modeling standards if there are any....
Yes I use After market sets and parts once in a while...But mostly Out of the Box and Scratch Building sometimes...
Scale-A-Ton, Keep it coming Great Work!!!!
    Blessings

I'd like to tell you your detail it's fabulous your camera stays focused and because you're able to focus so closely were able to see all a detail of your work. The only thing I'm disappointed is that the wiring you were using in the cockpit and on the landing gears you didn't say where you can get that type of silver and copper wire so I wouldn't know the first thing and how to attain that water or what you use to make the buckles for the seatbelts the drill you use I've seen many modulars use it but nobody says where you can find that I was fascinated what you did with the tail section but I'm not clear and I'm 30 minutes into your 35-minute video why you went to so much detail in cutting off things and adding things it's still unclear to me. I also build Starships and I followed these Master Builders and they leave out a lot of detail they show you how to prep the individual Parts but they don't show you how they apply these parts to the final finish and again I'm left not knowing and disappointed. The other issue about subscribing ringing the bell Etc I don't recall once getting a response to the questions I asked these modelers. So I'm going to ask of you the same thing I asked them and never get an answer and I'm hoping you do my name is Eric Sahagun ... I'm on Facebook I wish you would befriend me and asked sir my questions cuz everytime somebody contacts me on Facebook I get a notification and they answer my question and I answered there's it works out very well but I don't know what the magic formula it takes to get a question answer and answer to questions of people on TH-cam maybe you'll be the first person to help me out on this ... thank you sincerely Eric and you do a fabulous and amazing job I'm in Awe of your work and detail!

I let the thin set glue wick into the joints. The glue stains the seams, but they disappear when I paint the model. Recently, I used some MRP lacquer based paint and the glue seams are visible. Is this because its lacquer based, or do some paints let the glue joints show through?...thanks-

They cast most of them in gray now. In the 70s, the planes were cast in blue, brown, gray, dark green or olive drab. Some in black.

Hi, very new to the hobby. I was going to buy this kit as my second model. But I have a question, when youre applying the glue to the painted parts, wont that peel off the paint? i learned from my first model that I want to prepaint the parts before i glue them, but i have noticed that it peels the paint off. How are you doing it? Great model btw.

I'm not entirely convinced by the general level of weathering that modellers apply to kits these days . These were mass produced combat aircraft with a very short life span . I appreciate that a degree of artistic expression is involved but surely many of these aircraft never remained airworthy long enough to acquire such an extensive patina .

Really awesome build! The degree of detail is mindblowing. If I could, I would subscribe a 2nd time. Cheers!

Can I ask do, you go by actual photos of the aircraft and inparticular the landing gear bay to run the lead wiring or do you just go with what you think looks good. Amazing work as always.

The level of detail is breathtaking. I would love to do this, but I'd be too afraid I'd mess something up and ruin the model.

When you say "Ratio in the Mix" what does that mean? for example "Ratio in the mix 5%"? Thanks

I cant afford photo etch and resin just to build especially with the price of kits now. Even decals put a dent in the budget and the stores here wont cant order them.

Maybe the best weathering of an f4u ever done. You really captured the beating these birds took

I always see them with either NAVY or MARINES markings on them.
