    I have a fun tidbit about the serpopard! In medieval English texts, there is a monster called the Questing Beast which is described as having the head and neck of a snake, the body of a leopard, the haunches of a lion, and the feet of a deer. Seems odd that the same creature would appear in Egyptian mythology and Arthurian legend, right? Well, historians think most weird descriptions of creatures in medieval texts came from people seeing weird animals and having to describe a misremembered image through their frame of reference. They were all trying to describe a giraffe.

      @@combogalis It's not impossible that no one did, but consider. This is before the printing press, information is shared primarily through word of mouth and stories change in the telling. Also, it's important to remember that stretching the truth is not a modern invention, the more fantastical your discoveries are, the more funding you'll get from your patron. Historical bad science is plentiful, just look at Pliny the Elder's Natural History, in which plenty of bizarre assumptions about animals are taken as objective fact despite being easily disproved with observation.

    Um Actually, the difference between ghosts and poltergeists is that ghosts were alive at one point and poltergeists were not. For example, Peeves is the spirit of rebellion and breaking the rules at Hogwarts. As long as students break the rules at Hogwarts, Peeves will exist. • @gwest3644
      @gwest3644 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Um actually, hobbits having an absurd amount of meals seems to be purely a film invention. Bilbo does eat a "second breakfast" in The Hobbit, but the way it's phrased implies that this is not a regular occurrence, and in the Fellowship of the Ring, there are only three meals listed as having occurred at Bilbo's birthday party: lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner/supper (the book explicitly says they are the same thing). Assuming that they would have eaten breakfast before going to the party, and even assuming Bilbo's "second breakfast" isn't just something he had on a whim, hobbits have, at most, 5 meals a day (if afternoon tea even counts as a meal). From the way it's phrased, hobbits seem to have about the same number of meals a day as an average Brit in Tolkien's time, they just have more small snacks in between (though even this is solely based on Bilbo's birthday party, and obviously they're going to eat more at a party than on an average day).

    Technically, you want to water your plants early in the morning before the sun rises so that the water doesn't set on the leaves. Watering during daylight causes the water to act like a lens causing the sun to scorch the leaves. The name for this damage is naturally called "Sun Scorch" or "Leaf Scorch."

      You should water the soil, not the leaves on most houseplants anyway, shouldn’t you? If you have a plant that needs lots of humidity you can put the pot on some pebbles in a tray with water that can evaporate and keep the immediate area of that plant more humid.
