I previously posted a one-hour version of this story from 2011; now here is a feature-length version from 1986. Originally broadcast as a Saturday Night Theatre it was subsequently re-edited (with some small cuts) as a four-part serial on Radio 4 Extra. I've edited these episodes together into a feature-length version once again, and I've restored a minute or so of material from the original version that was cut when it was turned into a serial (though you may notice that the sound quality for this restored material isn't as good).
For those who enjoy this story, there is a sequel, The Moon of Gomrath, an adaptation of which has already been uploaded to the channel.
