This song was my introduction to this band. It goes hella hard.
Nothing Left actually became the song that earned As I Lay Dying a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2008 while the album An Ocean Between Us took number 8 on the Billboard 200 back in 2007. Quite an achievement for them if I have to say myself. Also this is the first AILD song that I have heard and this was from the game Midnight Club: Los Angeles.

The Powerless Rise is their best work, imo. Parallels, Condemned, Anodyne Sea... any of them really.
What's amazing is that you giys have no idea what we and AILD and norma Jean And Underoath and me without you zao an so so many band died for this music. It's a shame no one knows who we are but enjoy this music we created it when people called us evil and Ruined our lives. For the the record. I toured with AILD for many years same endorsements same manager.

@@amd1273 I don’t hate that album by any means. I definitely think there are some bangers on there! I’m assuming maybe some of the hate comes more from a mix standpoint, cause comparing Shadows to An Ocean the mix is sooooo much worse on Shadows. At least in my personal opinion.

The way I take this song (and The Sound Of Truth which is the continuation of this story) is that society will judge and condemn you for being different, whether that be professing Jesus or whatever. The Sound Of Truth is kinda the other side of the "coin" where the same people who say not to judge/condemn others for their differences will sometimes do exactly that.

To better understand I’d definitely say check out the music videos to Sound of Truth (the actual sequel to this one), and “Anodyne Sea” with a similar situation and see if it doesn’t make sense... also have to consider how AILD was during the time
