Replaying the Mass Effect trilogy has always felt like visiting old friends you haven't seen in a few years. You hear them speak a few times and hit the ground running and it's like they never left.
I also discovered Mass Effect at the perfect moment, I had an amazing role model to look up to in Shepard, and now my job/career is similar to the Blue Suns in ME2.
The Mass Effect trilogy just holds a special place in my heart. Between the choices, the classic missions, the engaging characters and the music, I will always remember this series as being one of the best.
I remember the Christmas I spent playing ME1. From the explosive opening to the grand ending it scratched every sci-fi RPG itch, wowing me (and my observing little sister).
I keep going back and forth between Kotor and ME1. No other games have ever awe-struck me the way those two did. Perhaps ME1 edges it just a bit simply because it was a brand new universe, whereas Star Wars was something I was already familiar with.
I think "vigil" might be my favorite piece of video game music of all time. Not only is it beautiful, but it just so incredibly captures the feeling of Mass Effect.
I do think the hate for Andromeda was really played up, I'm currently going through it on Game Pass and I'm having a great time with it, yeah there's a few bugs here and there and it's definitely not got the pull of Shepards story but it's still a really interesting look at starting life in a new solar system. Always feels great setting up a new forward operating base on a homeworld.
In some ways it lives up to the exploration promise that the original trilogy failed to achieve. However, story wise it's so weak. I'm playing it right now and it's very obvious when you hear your team members talk. They're basically saying how much they enjoy exploring and experiencing new things, with the other character agreeing... over and over again.
Once I replay the original trilogy by way of the new Legendary Edition, I'm going back to Andromeda. I dropped it very, VERY early into the game and it's been in my backlog for quite a long time now.
For me it was the opposite: I got Andromeda for a mere €6 long after the community steamrolled it, so I had very low expectations. Because of this, I actually ended up enjoying the game more than I expected, and decided to replay the trilogy after finishing Andromeda.
Love all the Mass Effect games including Andromeda which is still underrated, ME2 is still one of the best experiences I've had gaming,I cant wait for the legendary edition.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Back when Sears still existed, I saw ME3 for $4.50. I was unfamiliar with the series as a whole . Only heard of it as a passing glance. When I played the game I didn't know who's who or what was going on or anything about the DLC, but I fell hard for the series. Once I beat it with the neutral ending. I decided to play the series from the start. Playing ME1 was a drag but once I got to ME2 I ignored all of my other games . I bought the DLC add-ons for 2 and 3 except for the one about the Club. But the Citadel DLC, I was thinking about how much I didn't want the game to end, I was enjoying all the characters interacting and partying. Can't wait to relive this series again. Not waiting for blackfriday, I'm buying day 1, full price!!
I owned Mass Effect for months after buying it for 20 bucks from a friend my freshman year of high school. When I finally decided to put it, I didn't put it back down until I beat it 2 days later. I was so blown away and speechless as I watched the entire credits roll lol.
Looking forward to the Legendary Edition being my first play through of all 3 games! My buddy and I did a deep dive into the details/updates that they’ve made in preparation! Just wanted to share 😊
What annoys me about ME3 is that everyone was so caught up with the last 30 minutes of the game that they failed to realize that the entire game itself IS the end, not just that last 30 minutes. Similar to how the final season of a TV show can is seen as the end and can be amazing even if the final episode isn't that great.
There is a very fair reason why people get "caught up" in endings, it's called human psychology. As a receiving end of a narrative, I feel the ending of any story is the most important part of the story, and the dissatisfaction from a bad ending leaves a tremendous sour taste in my memory.
I am really sad that some of the fellow gamers will never understand, how different and brilliant it felt to play Mass Effect when it first came out. And they will never know that most of the games that they love deeply are just good polished copies of what Mass Effect has done before.
My sister and I are big fans of ME trilogy and we're beyond excited when they reveal the continuation. May our expectations met and our thirst quenched!
Can't wait to play through the trilogy again. Andromeda is sad, There are elements of the game like the combat, exploration and customisation that where really good but the writing was lacking.
The fans themselves killed Andromeda. Lacking as it was, the fans didn't accept it, and Bioware scrapped the additional content that was supposed to make the story at least a bit more appealing. And they were right, Andromeda was not a finished game. It released halfway done. But it could've been so much better if the fans allowed Bioware to try and fix it. Hopefully, Bioware learned it's lesson and doesn't try to sell a halfway finished game.
mass effect 1-3 was the best game trilogy I'd ever played. u can debate over the ending of me3. but since now we certain red ending will be the cannon. I cant wait to relive the series again, while waiting for mass effect 4.
I absolutely loved Andromeda!! Exploring those planets was so damn fun!! The gunplay was awesome, and the frantic movement speed was spot on!! I don't give a shit about glitches like a missing cup or bulging eyes, that doesn't take away from the fun, or really anything else for that matter.
Man.. Being introduced to Mass Effect several years ago.. it really changed my perspective on gaming. It's the kind of story that makes you want to be a part of it, in one way or another. The pacing is good, there are branching paths, different outcomes of the story (adds HUGE replay value). I noticed a spike in my interest for the games again after the announcements for both the remasters of the original trilogy, and the new continuation. While Andromeda was pretty good, and had a fun multiplayer, it didn't quite have the same impact as the originals did. Whatever the story of the new game will be, I really hope that they will continue the Milky Way storyline. A post-Reaper War story, set some years after Mass Effect 3. A story that included some familiar faces (considering that Liara is around). Not necessarily as squadmates, but as NPC's that you could interact with, and learn from. Even better if certain romance options from Shepard's story had kids that you could have as squadmates. But there is one thing that players really want from a Mass Effect game.. Playable (perhaps customizable) alien protagonists. A storyline with multiple side-stories, all leading towards the same goal, but each story being unique, or rather the entire experience being unique to each species, having different dialogue and interactions with other characters (squadmates even), depending on what race your character was (similar to what Dragon Age does). This would add even more replay value, and quite a bit of it. Oh, and give us quarians in the story again. Could you imagine a quarian protagonist ;)
Well done, young lady. Brought a tear to the eye. I can't wait for the release of the Legendary Edition. Personally, I loved all the iterations of this amazing saga - once all the updates and DLC were installed, obviously. ;) Let there be more. ... Oh and, uh ... Synthesis, of course ... ;) Cheers from Downundah, mate.
It's worth mentioning the awesome modding community (mainly the trilogy). My subsequent playthroughs have all been heavily modded, with bug fixes and missing content added back.
Yeah! BioWare were saying that they reached out to a lot of modders when they were working on the Legendary Edition to get their input, which is super cool.
Yeah always wanted to play a modded play through of the ME OT. Since I have a PS4 and a normal laptop I doesn't seem practicle to get a PC for gaming... So awaiting the LE and hoping mods are included is what i shall be doing :')
Honestly I don't know if it's just me but I enjoyed my time with Andromeda. It definitely wasn't the best and it was buggy but I enjoyed the combat so much. I loved being able to jump and dash and combine my powers
This was a great 11 minute and 13 second video, it's a pity there was never another Mass Effect game after Mass Effect 3, but at least it seems there's a new one in development.
10:40 I wish everyone seen it that way... ME3 is an amazing game overall! I am certain most people jumping on Legendary Edition for the first will LOVE the entire experience, even the Extended Cut ending that is now canon and implemented in retail version of the trilogy.
Never played mass effect, was just a series I skipped over when the PS3/360 were still new. I heard about the remaster and decided to give the series a play through to see if it’d be worth picking up the remaster and I immediately fell in love. ME1 was a little rough at times in gameplay but the story kept me going. Anyways just finished the trilogy last week and am so ready to play this on my series s. Can’t wait
I'm so excited for this! I played the hell out of this Trilogy both previous launches, still I am ready for some more in 4K! Lucy you have one of the most beautiful voices ever, matches your face! 😊🌹💘
10:15: DEATH THREATS ARE NEVER OKAY. The Mass Effect series is a VIDEO GAME. These were the passion project of many people and no one need take the ending of Mass Effect 3 THAT seriously.
It sure does feel good to be excited about Mass Effect again. I really think it's a bit weird not to mention the Leviathan DLC for ME3, though. At least as far as I remember, that was really the DLC that fixed some of the most glaring plot holes, and everyone was wondering at the time if it was just cut from the vanilla game because of time constraints or EA's usual shady business practices.
My favorite game(s) of all time. I think I’m in the rare that think ME3 is my favorite, till the ending, but then it goes ME2 and ME1. But I love the hell out of these games. Can’t wait for more. Just finished the Legendary edition. Full galactic readiness.
Mass effect Andromeda was brought to its knees, and never really had a shot at a brilliant presentation. The Frostbite engine just wasn't cut out for what the Mass Effect universe needed, which was facial animations that exposed you to greater feelings that your decisions mattered. This video also forgot to mention the fact that this new Andromeda team didn't have the budget to adequately bug test the game, or even finish the Quarian Ark DLC, which could have been nice to say the least. One can apparently read a novel about this DLC, but the movie is always better than the book in this case. Despite what i have said, I actually loved Mass Effect Andromeda as well as the beloved Original Trilogy as a whole. People, just have fun with the combat system and explore with the Nomad (thank you need for speed team). Both the car and the combat system are a blast to utilize. So many ways to kill Kett. Ive lost count.... Hopefully, Bioware and EA have learned some lessons here. That lesson is: Great art and gameplay take time and patience. Anyways, thanks for the mass effect nostalgia vaccine, or video. Much appreciated. :D
I like Andromeda alot. Finished it liked 5 times. Don't know why people complain about Shepard so much. They wanted to create one that was a bit different from the original trilogy. I think they did a good job.
Dang no wonder why I love mass effect I love kotor and played it on multiple consoles,, tablets and pcs since 2003 and just delved into mass effect last year during quarantine . The creates of mass effect are the same as kotor that just makes sense.
Even despite the controversional ending of 3 (I didn't even hated it as much as some VERY vocal fans) I still love the trilogy and it ranks as one of my favourite pieces of media of all time. Can't wait for the Legendary edition
i'm the rare group who liked the 3rd's game ending. Yea they could refine it a bit more but it was really epic. The choices there are reflective with a truth to real life. You try to win at all cost, try to save at all cost, or find some middle ground.
Soooo jelly of all of the new fans whose first experiences of Mass Effect is going to be the Legendary Edition! Thry will get to see it how it was always meant to be for the very first time!
Good video (for a change) and the ME trilogy was the peak of my little gamer life with the late 90’s as the silver age and this was the golden age. With KOTOR and Jade standing at the front to what thought be a strong long golden age. But ME1, was a movie RPG. Then ME2 took away some of the RPG and hit a almost perfect balance of movie and RPG gaming. I was flying high. Then ME3 hit, and while it had some do the charm, the cracks of too much stripping and rushing was removing the things that gave the balance. I played ME 1/2 easily 5 plus times each. Which ME3 only getting completed once and 0 want to return any of them after. Then the loot box and cash shop, mobile gaming dark ages came. Last twice as long as the silver or gold ages. Still waiting for them pass or bring my little gaming hobby of 3 decades to a sad sad end.
You can use your squad mates abilities as bonus power or even control there abilities during fights with the radial menu...so would it have been that much different? Because the only difference it would have made was aesthetics as I don't think that bioware would have changed the movement system based on the different species...
I stand firmly by that synthesis is an amazing ending to the trilogy. I hate destroy because it kills the themes and makes 1-3 pointless. I could have played ten minutes and done destroy. It felt like I did nothing. Felt like I wasted the full trilogy But worse, was that it took 3 games that were very well written and ruined the entire narrative. Made them all pointless. I know people are saying ME5 is making destroy canon, but I don’t think bioware is that amateur when it comes to writing
Yeah... I have to disagree there. The entire trilogy the reapers were set up to be a threat to all star-faring civilizations, and all of Shepard's actions were about addressing them as a threat to be stopped and/or destroyed. To be frank, I am not too pleased about 3's ending because of how it set itself up and the options it presented seemingly out of nowhere. First off, the reapers, a nearly eldritch level threat turns out to be nothing more than malfunctioning AI that decided the best way to stop synthetics from killing organics is by... Harvesting, IE killing all organics by the reapers... Who are synthetics. The star child's reasoning and positions feel hollow and pointless. The control ending made me feel manipulated like the Illusive Man was, and synthesis felt like a twisted fulfillment of what the reapers wanted to do anyway. Understanding between synthetics and organics shouldn't be accomplished by forcefully melding the two without their consent. It should take work. It should take the understanding that they come from fundamentally different places but can still show respect and acknowledgement for the other. If anything, the synthesis ending CHEAPENS peace between the geth and quarians if you opted for that. Hell, even Legion respects Shepard's decision to FORGO the benefits of reaper/collector technology if you decide to do so. Its the Illusive Man who is upset if you destroy the base. I respect Mass Effect, but it ended like GoT ended. It just left me feeling hallow and empty, which is a shame, because there is a LOT that can be done with the universe.
@@briandavis9888 the entire trilogy you learn why destroy is wrong and evil, you learn AI and synthetics are far more than just reapers, you learn that working with people-even enemies-always leads to a greater good. And you learn that organics and synthetics actually compliment one another greatly. How do you think reaper tech from ME2 has anything to do with committing a literal genocide in ME3? Legion accepts the decision to stick it to the illusive man He literally begs Shepard NOT to condemn his entire species. EDI’s character arc is literally all about learning to be more like the others, how badly she wants to be with the crew, and even learning to be more ‘human’ Synthesis is literally the entire POINT of what was shown and said. They didn’t say the word but read between the lines people.
For Sci-Fi RPG fans Mass Effect 1-3 is the equivalent of Lord of the Rings 1-3. The ending is ME3 isn't perfect, but if you've played the entire series with all DLC and read between the lines I think it make more sense than a lot of people give it credit for.
I am in love with Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, for me, it's de best Multiplayer CO-OP ever made, you are obligated to play in CO-OP, or everyone, it can finish the mission, will earn very few credits. In a single-player mode, ME2 is the best game I ever played. The DLCs of ME2 and 3 are awesome, but, what kills ME3 from me is... almost Renegade is inexistent, it's like a light Paragon, and I do not play Paragon, except in few important ones. The ME2 what that epic because OST, 12 squamates, Paragon/Renegate working and very polished, in other words, they take the time and money to do it. Mass Effect Andromeda is not a bad game, but they cut the budge to reduce the number of Alien Races, and the game become annoying with only 2 new Alien Races, and to make people play more time a game without content, they made you came back to the same plant lots of time, to do things, again and again, so repetitive. I will say that could be better than ME2 and I love that game, but the content is too few aside from nice gameplay and graphics... So a waste... And they could make it worth and work, but when you start doing wrong you cannot stop, and the CUT OUT ALL DLCs, literally KILLED the game. If they decide to add content with previously must be in the original game, but add in DLC, add nice history where it works.
Replaying the Mass Effect trilogy has always felt like visiting old friends you haven't seen in a few years. You hear them speak a few times and hit the ground running and it's like they never left.
That's actually a really interesting way to put it that isn't wrong.
It does feel that way. Probably a good game to revisit every three or four years. It’ll feel like you’re inviting friends over.
nothing like a good old mass effect vid to ease my day
Or to start it(Watching at 1am right before work)
lo fi mass effect beats to chill to
I’m a die hard mass effect fan and the original trilogy was brilliant it got me through my difficult years

The Mass Effect trilogy just holds a special place in my heart. Between the choices, the classic missions, the engaging characters and the music, I will always remember this series as being one of the best.
The universe of Mass Effect is my favorite in all of gaming.
Mass Effect peaked at the Suicide Mission. My favorite quest in any game I've ever played in my life.
It made me appreciate taking my time and properly building a team. The Mission name isn't exaggerating.

Agree, she is not just reading a script
I think "vigil" might be my favorite piece of video game music of all time. Not only is it beautiful, but it just so incredibly captures the feeling of Mass Effect.
nah. suicide mission kicks butt
1 & 3 were good games but Mass Effect 2 was incredible stopped me playing other games for weeks.
I definitely did not know that 3 of its cofounders were medical practitioners.
Thinking about playing the trilogy through again is making me borderline emotional
Mass effect 1 Is still my favorite of them all 🔥because was the better RPG ,wish they kept that intact trough the rest of the trilogy
Despite all the flaws of Andromeda, there’s some good ME stuff in there too.

I Just LOVED ME3 Ending and Andromeda (with 1.10 patch), i think i'm different.
I like Andromeda alot. Finished it liked 5 times. Don't know why people complain about Shepard so much. They wanted to create one that was a bit different from the original trilogy. I think they did a good job.
Greatest gaming trilogy of all time, fact 🔥👏 I can't wait for the Legendary Edition!!!
Thane's death had me crying. Ain't even gonna lie.
Andromeda is still such an underrated game. It has a lot of the same problems that ME1 had. Bioware deserved the chance to make it a trilogy.
Dang no wonder why I love mass effect I love kotor and played it on multiple consoles,, tablets and pcs since 2003 and just delved into mass effect last year during quarantine . The creates of mass effect are the same as kotor that just makes sense.
ME2 and W3 were about as close to perfect gaming experiences I’ve had in 45 years on this earth.
Even despite the controversional ending of 3 (I didn't even hated it as much as some VERY vocal fans) I still love the trilogy and it ranks as one of my favourite pieces of media of all time.
Can't wait for the Legendary edition
Lucy James and mass effect. What a combo
Two weeks from Friday I'm so ready for the Legendary Edition
i'm the rare group who liked the 3rd's game ending. Yea they could refine it a bit more but it was really epic. The choices there are reflective with a truth to real life. You try to win at all cost, try to save at all cost, or find some middle ground.
man, this and the dragon age series are games I have absolutely no qualms replaying for years to come.
I couldn't agree more
Loved this franchise since the beginning. I can't even bring myself to hate Andromeda. Really looking forward to the Legendary Edition.
Soooo jelly of all of the new fans whose first experiences of Mass Effect is going to be the Legendary Edition! Thry will get to see it how it was always meant to be for the very first time!
i've only just completed the first 2 games and I can say that ME1 is AMAZING I love it so much!
Wrex is probably my favorite character in gaming. I love me some krogan
I’ve played bits and pieces of each game but can’t wait to play them in order.
Cool video lucy good work 😀
Ha! Your closing quote is the most appropriate 🥰
The ability to play as companions would have been amazing, it's a shame it was cut. I hope ME4 includes that feature.
For real I didn't know that was in the cards during development
You can use your squad mates abilities as bonus power or even control there abilities during fights with the radial menu...so would it have been that much different? Because the only difference it would have made was aesthetics as I don't think that bioware would have changed the movement system based on the different species...
I stand firmly by that synthesis is an amazing ending to the trilogy. I hate destroy because it kills the themes and makes 1-3 pointless. I could have played ten minutes and done destroy.
It felt like I did nothing. Felt like I wasted the full trilogy
But worse, was that it took 3 games that were very well written and ruined the entire narrative.
Legion accepts the decision to stick it to the illusive man
He literally begs Shepard NOT to condemn his entire species.
EDI’s character arc is literally all about learning to be more like the others, how badly she wants to be with the crew, and even learning to be more ‘human’
Synthesis is literally the entire POINT of what was shown and said. They didn’t say the word but read between the lines people.
It's no wonder why I loved mass effect...when the same creator made star wars KoTor
Already pre-ordered can’t wait but I’ll be playing resident Village than week later ME trilogy!
the very best game i've ever played in my entire life. i bought my ps3 to only play mass effect
Great game, one of the finest trilogies in gaming history
You missed an opportunity. You should have had Shepard taking a breath at the end.
Started of with me2 loved it. Played it 3 times back to back. Then went out and got the first one. Then replayed the second 4 more times.
Jack Bauer shoutout is appreciated
I thought this video would be about history in the Mass Effect universe.
Cant wait for the new mass effect 5 game ! Pre-ordered mass effect legendary edition too
4:04 If that would've happened, the series could've been more famous than it is now.
Well done Lucy,well done!!!
