While I can understand the sentiment, there is the issue of when you've got someone equipped with a Scorpion or Falcon firing regular bullets in a cutscene.
@@Macrochenia If they can't adapt the cutscenes to fit the player's weapon choice, that seems far more laziness than anything resembling a technical issue.
@@antiochus87 That depends. If it's just a scene of the character holding a weapon, you're absolutely right. If it's a scene where the character actually uses the weapon, the programmers suddenly have to account for the fact that there are assault rifles that are fully automatic, semi automatic, fire bursts of different lengths, "rifles" that shoot energy beams, "rifles" that are actually grenade launchers, "rifles" that fire exploding homing lightning... Some of those guns are different enough that they'd have to program in an entirely new cutscene to make it work. And I'm honestly fine if they don't spend the time and effort to do that and instead work on fixing issues with NPCs rubbernecking or having their eyes roll around in the sockets.
@@Knight1029 dude i cant get over Andromeda. it had so much potential to be one of the best games. they really had me going at the main menu song lol. it gave me chills first time i heard it.
I actually don't blame them. If you were working on the same project for years, wouldn't you want to do something new? What I do blame them for is signing up with EA, who has a long history of putting so much pressure on studios it acquires that the studio ends up being gutted. Either people quit or EA outright dismantles them. And what's happened to Bioware? Well over 150+ senior devs have quit the company in the last decade. The worst of it started when EA forced Bioware to make Dragon Age 2 in less than a year. The Bioware we all knew and loved, who made the original Mass Effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age, hell even Baldur's Gate 1 & 2? That studio has been dead for a long time. Yet the people who came in and replaced them had the ego to think "we're Bioware, the things we make will just be magically good because we made them." THAT is why Andromeda and Anthem both failed. Honestly, Bioware making another Mass Effect game feels like a last ditch effort to make money and knowing EA, they're going to stuff it full of predatory microtransactions to access content that is in the damn install files, just like they did with 2 and 3.
@@HULK-HOGAN1 It's not about "giving people what they want" nobody really wanted Mass Effect 1 (over another Star Wars game after Kotor 1 & 2) Nobody wanted Dragon Age 1. Nobody was demanding Witcher 3 from CD Project. Nobody was asking for Horizon Zero Dawn. Nobody really cared for a Doom remake in 2016. There's always people who demand tripple A developers to stop putting out sequels and there's always people who just want the next part in their favourite series and it's futile to pander to both audiences. The only thing that matters is quality and the passion and ability to deliver it. Do they have a compelling story to tell. Can they build compelling worlds (open or linear, doesn't matter as long as it fits the narrative). It's really not about giving people what they want because a lot of the best games of all time are NOT games that people want (looking at you Fifa, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed & co.).
yea that was a really odd decision, I paid full exorbitant price for Andromeda, was it unreasonable for me to expect them to at least finish it? I have now done the same with the ME if they screw this up I will never buy an EA/BioWare game again, by scew up, I mean by not supporting the franchise, as they did with Andromeda. Issues happen just correct them.
Exactly it's what the originals were all about. That's what Bioware didn't get, people never wanted a new "Mass Effect themed" game, they wanted ME4. If they had done that fans would have forgiven the gameplay issues. But as it is there's the gameplay issues, and nobody cares about any of the characters or their stories.
The open worldness of Andromeda really made it a slog. Don't want to do that again. ME2 and 3 are prime storytelling for me. More structure like that please.
I just started playing it expecting to like that, but you're right. Mass Effect trilogy everything you do is important, and well planned out. Andromeda I find myself driving around an empty desert that somehow seems vast, but still linear, and utterly pointless.
I completely agree. Andromeda had open world sections for the sake of there being open world sections. Planetary exploration is cool, but not in Mass Effect. In the next Mass Effect I would like to see the same structure as the trilogy, linearity, awesome characters, awesome story, and most importantly that everything in the game matters.
If they could do decent open world (e.g. populate it enough to make it interesting), I'd be happy with it. I'm also a huge fan of Bethesda games, but Andromeda and especially Inquisition were a massive slog that way. If they can't then don't try.
I don't mind the open worldness of Andromeda when the context of the story is that you're basically an explorer in a new galaxy. I really enjoyed that feeling personally. However, I do agree that it does become a slog after a while. Too many fetch/scan quests with no real story attached to them. I think it's more a matter of balance in the gameplay. Make the maps a little smaller, pact with great story quests. At the same time, more linear levels make for a better story experience. I guess I'm saying that I would like a bit of both.
Agreed, the open-world aspect itself isn't bad...it like much of the development of the game was the lack of follow through due to the various factor that turned it into what we got, open-world can be fun when it's given proper attention and vision...and not tacked on as said for the sake of saying you have an "open world".
Shepard can survive in one of the endings of Mass Effect 3 and I don’t see the reason for why they’d confirm his survival if they weren’t going to have him in future Mass Effect games
I feel like people forgot or just haven't gotten that ending. Shepherd only survives if you have over a certain amount of military force for the finale battle. It seems like the new mass effect is going off that ending which would make sense since it's the only ending that earth, the alliance, you're companions, and shepherd live
Shepard's possible survival is not a confirmation of anything, it was just a "sparkle of hope" at the time, an icing on cake of the best ending. I doubt they'd actually bring him / her back in some significant way
With an older Liara coming back, another long-lived "youngster" from the original trilogy, Grunt, would be cool to see. I could see him as the leader of the Krogan, having either ascended peacefully after Wrex finally succumbs to age, or by violently usurping Wreave.
I so desperately want something akin to Dragon Age: Origins race and background system. If we had multiple races, and being able to pick more of a background apart from what we had in the original trilogy would be really nice. At the least I NEED the option to be something besides human.
Definitely. I just wrote a comment saying that before I saw yours! I don't have high hopes for Bioware honestly, but I'd love to see multiple starts and backgrounds and race choices that affect your playthrough drastically.
It's actually weird, everyone loves the Origins system but I've never seen it successfully replicated in another game since. It's been a long time, it was looking like Cyberpunk was going to do it but nope, still nothing.
As long as they do it right. If they are going to include other races, I'd rather they put effort into it. Culture, perks, the works. I don't want to play as an Asari skinned human. Turians, Krogan, Quarian...they all have rich backgrounds, culture. YES, it would be a nightmare to write, program, and implement (which is most likely why they HAVEN'T done it...especially since stats show that most people play as generic a role as possible), but it would make the game infinitely better. In DAI, since the races intermix regularly, you can KINDA get away with it...but in ME? Turians should have bonuses for weapons skills. Asari should have bonuses for biotics, and diplomacy (one of their hats). What about Krogan? Which clan? Each had its own thing. Quarians? Tech bonuses galore. And for Pete's sake, bring back classes. Making the character into an all-powerful biotic god is just...no fun. I liked MEA, but Ryder managing to out N7 actual N7s, in a span of a few months, or less than a year? AND unlock EVERY SKILL on one character? Meh, where is the challenge? The ACTUAL RPG elements? Being able to steamroll everything because you have access to everything pretty much makes EVERY teammate the Liam. And who wants to be the Liam?
@@thedarkstarr11 I couldn't agree more. I would love to play as a Turian, or Quarian. I would play and still play ME3 multiplayer from time-to-time just to have that small fantasy. Their cultures are so great, as well as their designs. I'd rather the next Mass Effect take years upon years to get right rather than have it lacking changes for the sake of time. And yes if the class system doesn't return it'll break my Sentinel heart.
I think the race and background system from Origins could be a great addition. If they managed to do it in 2009, I see no reason why it shouldn't be possible now. Quarian - Engineer - oppressed, Asari - Biotic - highly respected, Krogan - Soldier - everyone is afraid of you, Human - whatever - no one cares about you, so on and so on. That'd be fucking cool.
After Inquisition and Andromeda, a big thing I want Bioware to avoid in future games is deserts. No more deserts. Please god no. The Hissing Wastes, Western Approach, Elaaden, and Eos. Large swaths of sand and rock with nothing of any true interest in them that take forever to traverse. I'd rather die.
So we know Shepard survives in the best Destroy ending, which is probably canon at this point given the fact that there's a dead reaper and everybody isn't half synthetic. But does anybody remember the post credits sequence with Buzz Aldrin and the kid? "Can you tell me one more story about The Shepherd?" "Okay, just one more." I'm hopeful.
8:37 We all Hated collecting those damn shards. Now imagine collecting all of then 4 times for 4 diferent playthroughts. Quoting Dorian " the stuff of nightmares"
@@AlbonitumG I just can't, XD. I got the feel that maybe they are going to be important later on in another game or mention at some point. Like in mass effect, if you collect some things in ME1 that have no use in that game, they are actually required for a quest in ME3 that can not fully complete without them, unbelievable. XD
Yeah I hated those shards, Inquisition was definitely worse than Andromeda in that area. I've been playing Assassins Creed Valhalla, and if anything that's even worse with collectables...
1)Better voice acting, the two Ryder voice actors were attrotious, as was Liam and SAM. 2) Don't let a new mo cap studio handle the animations 3) Don't waste half the budget and time on trying to make random generation work 4) Don't cut the budget to make anthem 5) Forget about Andromeda and just set it in the milky way as a continuation story 6) Don't make it open world
Definitely agree on the open world point. It's just not a good fit for Mass Effect from a narrative perspective. Mass effect is a story heavy, character driven game and the story elements get diluted in an open world environment. I'd say the same thing about DA Inquisition, if you stack up the time of actual main story missions it was pretty short. There was a lot of filler to pad things out
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou Sure, however the main quest for each zone in dragonage was generally good and one or two side quests, the problem was all the collect shards and close rifts and set up camps ect
You can compromise. Instead of playing as Shepard, you can import your save and play as an offspring of Shepard and their LI. This allows options to play as an Asari, Turian, Quarian etc, some of which may not be lore viable but that can be fixed with good sci-fi writing. This is a great compromise. You get a new protagonist while still pleasing the nostalgia fan base. You only have to have basic codex and dialogue acknowledging the old Shepard’s personality based on the save import. This also gives reward for past decisions and provides incentive to go back and make different choices. If you didn’t have a LI or don’t have a save to import, you can play as a fresh, unrelated Protagonist and pick your own race.
Liara as a Gandalf like companion/character would be incredible. Mass Effect's greatness for me is also the design of your choices carrying over through multiple installments of the franchise. I struggle to picture a new Mass Effect that's as ambitious. We shall see.
@@Khazandar Very true. Although it has been confirmed many MS vets have returned to work on this project, it's been a whole other Bioware for a minute.
As a big defender of Andromeda I hope somehow we get to see some of the characters brought back to the Milky Way, or vice versa. And I hope the writers actually tie up the loose ends that the writers of Andromeda left open for DLC. Like who the mysterious benefactor was. Plus one of the things I loved most about Andromeda was getting rid of the paragon and renegade paths. It shouldn’t be so restrictive. And I loved being able to negotiate my way out of a conflict as getting into one. This should be the perfect mix of Star Wars and Star Trek.
Glad I'm not the only one that likes ME3 combat over Andromeda. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot that's good about Andromeda's changes, but the cover based, solid feeling shooter was much more satisfying.
I LOVED combat in Andromeda. I don't manage teammates well. I forget them. Not having to worry about was a plus for me. Andromeda's combat just pulled me in.
I kinda agree, I would often forget about being able to control them, but I used to like directing them in some instances. I think it would've been better if your squamates were just programmed better. I found they were a bit dumb in Andromeda.
I would really like the option to play as your squadmates during combat like you can in Dragon Age. It could have the benefit of making your squad unique with squadmates having powers and abilities not available for the protagonist.
In destroy ending we saw sheppard breathing breastplate..in trailer for mass effect 4 we see liara climbing destroyed reaper and find N7 human Spectre helmet element.. But peoples will still saying Sheppard is dead.
Same. Really great set up for a trilogy. Honestly a shame it got canned when it did, Andromeda currently has a 9/10 on steam and really has proven its self to be a pretty solid game. Just got super fucked by its launch, and if it hadnt gotten so much shame that they stopped working on it I think it would be an amazing game. So hopefully a sequel can fix things.
@@scoutieofficial it's designed for first-person shooters, and it makes hell of a headache to adapt it for RPG games like DA Inquisition or ME Andromeda. Because of that, developers spend extra time on engine adaptation instead of making the game itself
@@SophiaAstatine Yeah like it’s been so long since I’ve played Mass Effect that I genuinely would like his story to continue somehow. Especially considering how bad the new protagonist in Andromeda sucked
@@HULK-HOGAN1 I don't think Ryder is that bad. Biggest issue is how the tone isn't really like the other games, and we don't really know what to expect from Ryder so she feels a bit hollow. But another reason I'd want it, is to experience super soldier Shepard in the fast and bouncy combat gameplay from Andromeda. Best part of Andromeda if you ask me.
@@danc1513 Yey few problems the music was shit, the dialogs was shit, the world unimaginative: good guy in a side, and one bad guy on the other. Thanos and Ultron seem to have lot of deeps in comparison of the bad guys of Andromeda. But you spend your money like you want ...
Would be amazing if there was some kind of galactic bridge that joins the different galaxies in the universe. Like a mass relay on steroids and that Liara has set out to find.
@@antiochus87 I personally was thinking inquisition since the origin system was a nightmare to develop and the implication-based origin of Inquisition left more to the imagination. Maybe the human is a Talon merc, the Asari is a commando in training, the turian was dishonorably discharged from the military on bogus reasons, the krogan was a bounty hunter who never had interest in returning to Tuchanka to revitalize the race after the cure, and the quarian is simply taking their pilgrimage assuming they didn’t remove it from their culture when they returned to Rannoch
@@koalakid6277 I'd prefer the Origins way because it would allow for more unique characters with recurring characters from their background but I think you're right, it would be a lot more difficult to implement (or to be accepted by management). I'd be happy with something similar to Inquisition as an alternative. I would just hope that the story would offer more room for player choices than Inquisition, which felt extremely limiting for the character and player and had no meaningful ending. (The player is forced to become leader of the Catholic Church crusade whatever their beliefs and everything leads to a meaningless choice at the end of Trespasser)
Me: *talks for hours about all the in-depth, important changes that I hope are made to enhance the story and correct things from the original* Also Me: *NEW HAIR NEW HAIR NEW HAIR NEW HAIR*
So how many people know about if u get wrex's family armor back aka his side quest u can save him without having to do a paragon or renegade check on vermire
I can’t really see the feasibility of that - think of all the main voice actors you would need and how you would need to tailor each protagonists’ dialogue to their race and also how they’re spoke to by npcs. Sounds like a nightmare to write.
The main problem in my opinion is that the Bioware who made those classic games (Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age etc) is not the Bioware we have today, barely any of the staff that worked on those games is still around. The studio is now only Bioware in name alone. Do not get me wrong, I really hope they can turn it around and the new Mass Effect and Dragon Age are great games, I do not want to see them fail, however I think people really need to temper their expectations as this is not the Bioware we knew and loved anymore.
very well said and I agree with this, Honestly bioware hasnt been the same since the ending of ME3 though ME# was overall a great game the ending of that game seemed to be the start of the end for the company. Since then all of the huge names have left the company. So am i happy we are getting a true sequel to ME3 yes but my expectations are very low i hope they can finally prove us all wrong but their track record says otherwise going almost a decade
3 things: 1.we see Tali's face, not just a random picture off the internet. 2. An option to mock the Turian council member in ME3 when he asks you to help fight off the Reapers. 3. A way to defeat the reapers, like you have to replay the original and the ledgendary game just to get it.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I hope that the Andromeda story continues one way or another. I really liked the feeling of being an explorer driving around Andromeda, but I agree that the maps are either too big or need more good story content to justify the quasi-open world aspect of it. All we really need is good characters driving forward great stories. And squad commands to come back, definitely. Good vid.
I didn't really hate Andromeda... it just felt like the most recent Star Trek movies. Braindead story with very generic scifi everything. It lacked the charisma of the first 3 ME games. The developers had zero passion for it and it showed.
exactly what i been saying! maybe if they focused less on those millions of pointless side missions they couldve focused on the story, facial animations and fix the impact of the choices we make. so much wasted potential.
I actually loved the story 😅😩 like a lot I was so invested honestly lol. Sure it could have been better. I really hope they tie up loose ends from Andromeda, and it’s a sequel to both mass effects. The only thing that bothered me the most was the awful animation lol.
Fully disagree on Shepard not being the main character in the new game. In fact if the game is set any later than 1-2 WEEKS after London, then its completely pointless. The entire third game was riding on "save the galaxy while theres still a galaxy left to save" and wrap the war up as fast as possible before everything is destroyed. Any later than a few weeks and the damage done would be too much. The best solution would be to continue the moment after Harbinger hit us with his attack, climb out from under the rubble in London, regroup, use the Crucible with less power to save EDI, Geth, Mass Relays, Citadel, other AI that we need, and fight the Reaper ships that werent killed by the Crucible with conventional means. I made a video about it years ago, in the description theres way more details, and so far most people like the idea.
We have to understand that the old bioware we used to love is gone. Now, we have the new team, trying desperately to capture that old magic, and missing the mark.
@@hopefulmayhem5744 No they haven't. They all were crying when the trailer finally came out because they've had to keep it a secret for so long that they are all coming back and are committed to doing right by the sequel.
I roleplay as a human. I’d be bummed if I had to be one of the existing non human races. I ❤️’d being Shepard. However, I’m good with a new protagonist. I didn’t enjoy being Ryder. I prefer being a hard core bad arse than a young person given power not earned. Shep was a N7. Backstory to support the rise through the ranks. Shep fought hard and forged forward against unheard of odds. I’d like the same immersion. Doesn’t have to be a similar military story... but... I loved being famous and infamous. I loved being feared and being kind. BioWare doesn’t appreciate the fan love for the trilogy and what made the trilogy special. The relationships. The story. The atmosphere. The feels. The laughs. That music. The adventure. The optimism and the heart. All of it. I want more of that please.
The attention to detail is fantastic in this video. Really appreciate how many game edits were exactly what Lucy was talking about rather than generic b roll. Getting Mass Effect lore right is difficult and it's rarely represented this well with this level of production. Really impressed I hope we see more like this.
Mass Effect Andromeda is the only ME game I’ve ever played. I’m so stoked about the Legendary edition coming out. I really enjoyed Andromeda. I just wanted more.
seeing that liara is older and the fact that asari can live for a thousand years i think that this game will probably take place a few hundred years in the future meaning none of the other original characters will be in this game. I think it is also possible that the andromeda mission will have a small role as well.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing Shepard back (if Destroy Ending is the chosen canon). Shepard was an awesome protagonist and I would like some kind of epilogue-ish type of closure for him/her. Not saying Shepard should be the main character again, but it be nice to see Shepard again enjoying life after the Reaper war.
Imagine in a few years you start the next mass effect for the first time and youre on the citadel where theres a huge memorial to commander shepard, a reaper technology museum and stuff like that
Add in the mix, the Battle of Shanxi, ,Jack Harper, (the Illusive man) the origin of Cerberus, the history of Anderson . And you have something to make another trilogy.
Or, a Mass Effect Chronicles. Playing through experiences of different squadmates. Garrus as a C Sec officer or his time as Archangel. Liara on an excavation or retrieving Shepards remains to give to Cerberus. Tali during her investigation into the dying sun/dark energy. Mordin dispersing the Genophage or other missions with the STG. Samara becoming a Justicar or tracking down a fugitive. Miranda and Jacob saving the council. Jack escaping Pragia. Javik during the final days of the Protheans etc. They have such a rich lore they could tap into and expand in great detail.

Little bit off topic but i would like to see Andromeda to continue. İ like nature graphics characters beautiful planets and story. I don't know why people comparing it to sequel. İt is not necessary to be always in rush(actions and fights) like in the original ME. You're in a new galaxy new worlds new mystery's so much to explore. And the best thing i can say music in Andromeda.
I think the new main character should be the child of Shepard and whoever you chose to romance in the trilogy. I would like to see Shepard again in leadership role.
I always assumed that the Shadow Broker (aka Liara) was actually the one funding the Initiative, which would make more sense why she would try to save as many species as possible
I like my games to be open world because they give me a chance to do what every RPG loyalist wants to do explore and through the open world settings create a story in your head that is unique to you using your imagination and free thinking is what makes RPGs fun the trilogy I hate to admit was little too linear even Mass Effect 1 was far less open then I really would like and games like that many times become more been there done that for me. Mass Effect Andromeda allowed me to freely explore and take on different quests at different times and in my own way tell the story in my own way and in my own mind as I wanted the story told. T
I don't think that spoiler about the purpose of the Andromeda Initiative is that big of a spoiler. If you played the Mass Effect trilogy and you understand when the trip to Andromeda began, you can theorize why thousands of people would leave the Milky Way. Especially when you learn that Liara was in communication with Sam Ryder.
Well, it comes across as a very anti-climactic and obvious spoiler "Oh wait, so you didn't build an insanely expensive bunch of generation ships thousands of lightyears across the vast void of space to the next galaxy even though much of the Milky Way is unexplored just for the hell of it. Oh wow, I'm so surprised." It could have had more impact with more details, but there was no DLC or sequel.
@@antiochus87 I don't know about anti-climatic. Andromeda was a big departure from the trilogy and the developers wanted the game to feel like Mass Effect and not just a game with Mass Effect aliens and guns. Call backs to the trilogy helped accomplish that and The origins of the initiative was a huge call back.
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou I disagree. I started Andromeda immediately after finishing Mass Effect 3 and two weeks after finishing Mass Effect 2. Andromeda feels like a Mass Effect game while still also being a huge departure from the trilogy.
@@kylefunderburk4194 No, Craig is right, it didn't feel like a mass effect game. It had the game's face, the alien races, the aesthetic of the series. But the way choices were made, the lower quality of the characters and story lines, the way it was open world rather than linear, it wasn't really mass effect, it was just a game called mass effect.
Tbh I have a theory. This game is set hundreds of years later down the line when Liara is in the Matriarch stage and the use for the Reapers is fulfilled so no matter what the ending of ME3, the Reapers have been shut down whether in the battle for Earth or shut down because all the repairs (Mass Relays, cities and such) are done so they serve only one purpose: War, and no one wants that so they got shut down. Makes what you choose canon no matter what and gives it the same start point. Just a theory but I think it could work. . .
Exactly ! one of the reasons mass effect 2 is considered the best one is because of the fucking pacing ! we don’t need stupid open world stuff we need a few HUB areas sure, to talk with the crew outside the ship, but mass effect being a military focused story you just need to do a linear mission then check your crew after the mission that’s all 😭 just make sure the missions are varied and hub areas are interesting like omega and ilium to make sure the game has a bit of length and you get another masterpiece like ME2
Despite everything andromeda is probably my favorite game of the franchise the crew, the main character, and the mysteries. I really want more andromeda.
I agree with the open world, if you're going to do a large explorable map, fill it with things to do and discover. Random encounters would be awesome. I always love stumbling across random happenings in Red Dead 2! Maybe a mix of the two would be good, but more focus on levels. If going by what we've seen of the new game, it looks like there will be exploring of some kind. The only map I really enjoyed driving around in ME:A was Elaaden, and I think that's just because it had the most going on. It had the paradise, New Tuchanka, crashed Remnant ship, several of the more interesting side missions within the game, A random remnant worm thing. Despite being largely "Another" dessert after already having Eos, I think it was the prettiest map too. For a game built in just over a year, it could've actually been a lot lot worse. (Looking at you Cyberpunk 2077!) I'd love more customisation options too, and mix up the combat. I like the player combat in Andromeda but I did miss being able to direct my squadmates.
Some might disagree but I do agree with the idea that Shepherd's storyline Is done for Mass Effect 4. But if they were to bring him back in a way I am curious on how were they to do so. 🤔
Valid opinion tho to Original Trilogy fans what made Andromeda not feel like a Mass Effect was lack of Shepard (and lots other races like quarians, hanar, volus, batarian and elcor). Too strong lack of bad dancing and "I should go" :P
I'm a call it. They're gonna do something akin to Dragon Age Keep where you can go in and make a world state that shapes your adventure in ME4. Tying the originals and Andromeda back together as best as they can while also giving us more to look forward to in the Milky Way galaxy as well as potential spin offs for stories in Andromeda.
I could take or leave the vehicle segments but there needs to be a bigger emphasis on exploration in general. I really loved the lower budget, world building sidequests of ME1, they're probably my favorite content in the whole series and I just always expected them to take the bulk of the focus moving forward, but instead they only got smaller until they were gone completely. ME2's side quests were quiet and short and didn't really offer much in the way of story, while ME3's were mostly... swing by planet, send down probe, go back to Citadel. What I'd really love to see is a game full of side quests similar in scope to the loyalty missions from ME2, but instead of being attached to the characters or the main plot, they're just there to immerse you in the universe. That was something ME2 and 3 were sorely missing out on. Like, imagine a bigger budget version of helping Nassana Dantius with her sister, or working with Admiral Kahoku to follow up on Cerberus, or the Geth incursion, or the biotic fanatics, so on and so forth. Mostly I just want smaller, more personal stories to follow up on, and what I loved most about being a Spectre in ME1 was getting immersed in these little stories where I got to help people around the galaxy, and learn more about the political situation and galactic history as I did it. I'd ESPECIALLY love to do it as someone not tied to the military, since I'm kind of sick of playing sci-fi games where my only option is to play a space marine. The sense of exploration and discovery was the best part of the whole series, but it never really got developed after ME1, and that still makes me sad.
@@LastRedStar Glad to hear, if that's the case. I just can't imagine Commander Shepard - renegade or paragon - choosing any other option except total destruction of the Reapers, considering everything that he/she had witnessed & been through. Just my take on it.
Worst thing about that ending is that it kills off EDI and the Geth too. The scene with Tali mentioning that “the Geth are actually helping”,”instead of generations to live on our planet without suits it could just take decades” is flushed down the toilet. The Geth are probably my favourite sci-fi race so them being deleted from the series would be a real let down, won’t be able to see how sentience actually affected them, because you don’t see enough of them post Rannoch to get a good idea
BioWare can do a compelling story with a prequel to Mass Effect. There's a lot of lore that's never seen really. The Geth rebellion, the Krogan rebellion, nuking of Tachanka, First contact war.... NEEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDDD!!!!
I agree with the new Mass Effect having a new player character, but I personally really dig the idea of an old man/old woman Shepard filling the kind of role that Anderson did in the trilogy. That might allow them to have a limited enough scope of dialog that you could maybe do a little save importing magic, as long as the previous choices didn't affect the new game too much, more just with flavour dialog for old Shepard.
I think it might be cool with the legendary edition allowing for what ending you chose to carry over. A dead reaper could still die in the control and synthesis. It might be cool for a control ending to see liara looking at just see some random reaper and realize that Shepard’s probably in there somewhere.
I agree with all you said, and from what i know, the fate of Shepard was sealed since the begin of the 2007 trilogy...Bioware designed a story with a hero who fight the inevitable cycle of the reapers invasion who wipe out ALL lives in the galaxy, and this is why imo the story is so eye-catching and intriguing. I hope for the best in the near future.
You raise a good point as to how would they import choices to bring Sheperd back, but I have to disagree with wanting him/her back, I think it’d be amazing and I think the legendary edition is a way to accomplish that.
A few things I wanted to mention is that the Quarian book did not with them being at the Neux just telling what they were doing in between the two galaxies. They are still lost and need to be found that is how the book ended. On the open world point I think they can do it just segment it better. The open world parts can serve as hub areas where we get quests dilgoue and what I think would be cool to see the changes that your choices made in those hub worlds. Then have linear levels from those hub world were you can get a quest then go to a specific area to do it.
*1.)* I am very curious as to how they'll tie together the three different endings in ME3. Creatively the endings are nothing more than what Photoshopfilter you have on your space explosion and a few slides with text on them. Narratively however, it has huge implications on the story forward. Synthesis changes *all* life in the galaxy, combining synthetic and organic life. While Destroy ends up with the Geth wiped out, along with all synthetic life. Dominate ends up with the Reapers still around, hanging out as guardians of the galaxy, maybe even helping galactic society rebuild and help with new technology. Making this timeline more technologically advanced. *2.)* I agree, Shepard is done. Shepard's story is amazing (though I think the ending isn't worthy of it), it's time to play as someone new. Though I disagree that meeting Hawke in Inquisition was the wrong choice, I loved it. My only complaint was that you had to tweak your Hawke's appearance all over again. Though I wouldn't want Shepard to show up as a side-character, Shepard either died a hero or died later. Judging by Liara's aged appearance enough time has passed that Shepard would have died by old age. It takes hundreds of years for Asari to show signs of aging. *3.)* Yes, I'd like to see new Alien races. I'd like to see all the old ones in the Milky Way make a return, and some new ones that has joined galactic society in the time that has passed since the trilogy. Though this is so dependent on the ME3 ending. In one of them, the Geth are supposedly destroyed. In another all life has been rewritten, no matter whether they wanted to or not. *4.)* I don't feel the need to directly control my squadmates in Mass Effect, but I agree that allowing us direct control of their abilities is something that was extremely useful, as you could combine them. For example, have a biotic squadmate Levitate a powerful enemy, then have your other squadmate use Concussive Shot to knock them out of bounds, removing the threat entirely. Just leave in an option to have your squadmates use their abilities freely, limited use or only when you order them to. I also agree that the classes should feel more distinct, but I was *not* a fan of the constant changing in Andromeda. Either you're a Biotic or you're not for example. I was also *not* a fan of the limited number of abilities you could have. On PC I had a loooot of buttons left unused compared to the Mass Effect trilogy. Let PC use their buttons for all their abilities and give consoles a radial wheel that you open in combat for the abilities you use less often, while having the most used ones on hotkeys on the controller. *5.)* I agree that checklist quests in a huge open space is in no way fun or interesting. I like open worlds, but only if there's interesting things to do in there. *6.)* Agreed, DLC squadmates should not be a thing. If they are integral parts of your squad or story they should be in the main game. DLC can stay as side stories, interesting bits on the side, but not pieces of the main story. *7.)* As for the dialogue system, I really liked the one from Dragon Age 2. There's no "good" or "bad", but the personality of your Hawke was dependent on the personality score from what you used most often. Sarcastic Hawke is amazing. But the one from Andromeda was also good, where you had the "tones" of the conversations. I agree that combining it somehow with a "morality score" has the potential to be really good.
I would absolutely love to see a Dragon Age style of character customization in the upcoming Mass Effect, where you can choose your race and origin and really have the world you're playing in respond to that. Playing a Human from the Alliance is all well and good, but what about a Krogan Battlemaster, maybe a Turian merc and having the world respond to such is fun. Unlike in something like Skyrim where you'll be told at the gates of Windhelm that Argonians aren't allowed into the city, buuut it doesn't apply to you. Orrr in the same city, you get stopped and asked if you have Dark Elves WHILE YOU ARE A DARK ELF.
The one thing I really want, is if they go for the destroy ending, find a way to make the Geth survive!!! Was heart broken when I went through all that to bring peace to the quarians and geth, and legions sacrifice all for them to be wiped out by the destroy ending! Still hurts. Also this vid was a bit of slogg due the sheer number of ad breaks, 10 ad breaks for a 12 min video is a bit much.
The parts of Andromeda I liked the most were the morally grey choices I made. Whenever I found the dirty secret of an important NPC I buried six feet deep. The funny part is that in principle I'm for openness and accountability. obviously, i a specifi situation I'd go another way... Also, I want my armor to be customizable in appearance in a way that doesn't affect the staqts. I often had to choose between a useful piece of armor and a good looking one. Combat: I much liked the ME3 system, but wouldn't mind jet packs. Biotic powers: I found the system used in ME:A interesting but clunky. A Drag-and-drop powers into slots would be better. History wise, I wouldn't mind if it involved exploring remote parts of the galaxy, seeing how the many pockets of civilizations developed alone, without the Mass relays. And the villains need to be the Leviathans.
As for the morality system, I think they should do something similar to D&D with four major fields on an XY axis: Lawful/Chotic (X) and Good/Evil (Y). Certain choices will push you in one direction, the other, or even along both. With special opportunities for resolution only opening up if you are sufficiently lawful/good, chaotic/evil, or even neutral (close to 0 on either axis) in either order or morality and the nature of the situation or individuals involved. Like a bunch of thieves (chaotic) who are stealing supplies to feed their families (good) might be persuaded to give it back if you're sufficiently chaotic or good in a peaceful manner. If you're extremely Lawful Evil or opposing you could also get an option to resolve the situation "peacefully" through intimidation, but the end result would be that they continue stealing or join the opposition to you later on
Cutscenes should be equipped with the guns that you're currently using, not just a default Avenger rifle
It wont happen because cutscenes are mini-movie.
@@omegaman7377 was just a bit hopeful :D But still excited!
I would like to see a return for armor customization in the story mode for all the companions
Yes I would also like a breast enhancer mod for all female characters
I like alternate options for costumes but having to micromanage the team and make sure they're always using the best gear like in ME1 was obnoxious.
I thought I was the only one who wanted it!😍🤣 (I loved the inventory of ME1)
Andromeda did have companion stories and it did have armour customization a lot of it in fact.
@@Knight1029 dude i cant get over Andromeda. it had so much potential to be one of the best games. they really had me going at the main menu song lol. it gave me chills first time i heard it.
Still disappointed that EA chose to support Anthem instead of Andromeda
And the leopard ate their face and they removed the multiplayer from DA4 to save face.
@@twohorsesinamancostume7606 I blame them. We wanted ME. Not a new IP. Give the people what they want.
Story, story is paramount. A good story and non-bland characters. Then the chances of it being good are quite high.
Totally agree. Great story and memorable characters is was what made me love the original trilogy and replayed it multiple times.
Exactly it's what the originals were all about. That's what Bioware didn't get, people never wanted a new "Mass Effect themed" game, they wanted ME4. If they had done that fans would have forgiven the gameplay issues. But as it is there's the gameplay issues, and nobody cares about any of the characters or their stories.
i am so ready for the remastered trilogy
Getting it only for ME1. Never finished Andromeda (somewhat yuckies)
@@lordoftheflies4121 Evidently that's the canon ending as well.
Shepard's possible survival is not a confirmation of anything, it was just a "sparkle of hope" at the time, an icing on cake of the best ending. I doubt they'd actually bring him / her back in some significant way
Please lord just give me a better character creation system.
Agreed. I actually liked the character creator in the original trilogy. But the Andromeda's character creator was god awful imo.
Oh, yes pleaseee.
Let us create a main character that's not human!
@@Saugerdees right? Let me make my krogan battle, aster already!
With an older Liara coming back, another long-lived "youngster" from the original trilogy, Grunt, would be cool to see. I could see him as the leader of the Krogan, having either ascended peacefully after Wrex finally succumbs to age, or by violently usurping Wreave.
That would be super cool, nice way to tie to the original trilogy too

Too bad she doesn't get the lore right.
Agreed, I'd love to be Quarian or Krogan
I could watch Lucy talk about Mass Effect for hours.
The thing that i want the most is to play as Shepard again. He IS mass effect.
A story conclusion where our choices actually matter and not a cutscene with different colors as an ending.
That's it. That's all I want.
I SECOND THAT!
This ^^. The extended slide show does not cut it.
Second. I'd have wanted my Shepard to... you know what.
My face is tired of waiting for the release
So we know Shepard survives in the best Destroy ending, which is probably canon at this point given the fact that there's a dead reaper and everybody isn't half synthetic. But does anybody remember the post credits sequence with Buzz Aldrin and the kid?
"Can you tell me one more story about The Shepherd?" "Okay, just one more."
I'm hopeful.

@@AlbonitumG I just can't, XD. I got the feel that maybe they are going to be important later on in another game or mention at some point. Yeah I hated those shards, Inquisition was definitely worse than Andromeda in that area. I've been playing Assassins Creed Valhalla, and if anything that's even worse with collectables...

3) Don't waste half the budget and time on trying to make random generation work
4) Don't cut the budget to make anthem
5) Forget about Andromeda and just set it in the milky way as a continuation story
6) Don't make it open world
Definitely agree on the open world point.
It's just not a good fit for Mass Effect from a narrative perspective. Mass effect is a story heavy, character driven game and the story elements get diluted in an open world environment.
I'd say the same thing about DA Inquisition, if you stack up the time of actual main story missions it was pretty short. There was a lot of filler to pad things out
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou

@@the_dropbear4392 yeah but there wasn't enough story for my liking. As you said, the majority of time was spent doing tedious filler quests.
Commander Shepard = Mass effect
Mass effect = Commander Shepard
Anything coming out of Bioware these days is gonna be mediocre at best. They've lost most of the people that made the company great.

Yeah, take a lesson for Dragon Age (Origins preferably) and allow for different player races and different origins and interactions.

Mass Effect is my Star Wars, I've already spent a few hundred on any and everything i could order from BIoware shop. i love it..

Agreed. The newer Star Trek shows is too focused on character, and not the ship. I'd love for ME to switch to a more group focused approch.
I enjoy this concept.
We have to understand that the old bioware we used to love is gone. Now, we have the new team, trying desperately to capture that old magic, and missing the mark.
Yeah well said mate!!! Many OG bioware employees are gone sadly.
@@trooperodst6880 Many OG employees came back to work on the new game.
@@gibster9624 and then left again.
@@hopefulmayhem5744 No they haven't. They all were crying when the trailer finally came out because they've had to keep it a secret for so long that they are all coming back and are committed to doing right by the sequel.
@@gibster9624 didn't bother watching did you. 3 people announced they were coming back from the senior team. 150 plus have left.
I just hope that it won't be an open world. It really hurt the story of Andromeda.
Well said.
God bless your optimism on BioWare
The attention to detail is fantastic in this video. Really appreciate how many game edits were exactly what Lucy was talking about rather than generic b roll. Getting Mass Effect lore right is difficult and it's rarely represented this well with this level of production. Really impressed I hope we see more like this.
Mass Effect Andromeda is the only ME game I’ve ever played. I’m so stoked about the Legendary edition coming out. I really enjoyed Andromeda. I just wanted more.
Then youre really ahead of something great :)
Is that right???
Well buckle up cause ur in for a hell of ride
Enjoy
seeing that liara is older and the fact that asari can live for a thousand years i think that this game will probably take place a few hundred years in the future meaning none of the other original characters will be in this game. I think it is also possible that the andromeda mission will have a small role as well.
Im pretty sure we would still be able to run into grunt in this scenario aswell as krogan live past a thousand years i think?
The illusive man was the real hero of the story.
I miss Shepard, his crews and the Normandy
I actually wouldn't mind seeing Shepard back (if Destroy Ending is the chosen canon). Shepard was an awesome protagonist and I would like some kind of epilogue-ish type of closure for him/her. Not saying Shepard should be the main character again, but it be nice to see Shepard again enjoying life after the Reaper war.
I would feel bad for leaving Tali a Widow just doesn't seem right.
Imagine in a few years you start the next mass effect for the first time and youre on the citadel where theres a huge memorial to commander shepard, a reaper technology museum and stuff like that
Would love a pre human contact Mass Effect one day. Krogan Rebellions or Rachni Wars era ME game would be AMAZING.
@@omegaman7377 Battle of Shanxi would be epic! Though that’s a particularly short event. Anderson’s story and how he almost became a spectre are in a book called Mass Effect: Revelation if you haven’t read already. Primo writing.
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou honestly that would be insanely fun and I’ve been wanting something like that! The comic books dive into the Archangel story, Mordon’s dispersal of the genophage and Liara retrieving Shepard’s body but a video game would be fun af
Shepard becomes the new Anderson!!
And he finally gets promoted from Commander after saving the universe 3 time lol
I'd definitely be down for that.
For starters, Bioware can stop pandering to middle-school students and create an adult story.
I love how you used the menu music from andromeda, is one I love so much
its honestly one of my favourite tracks in all of ME's music. andromeda had some pretty great music
Commander Shepard is the reason I played the trilogy & never created my own Shepard he is crucial to the story he needs to be in Mass Effect 4
I would love to be able to choose to play a different race. To have a main character as a Drell would be *chefs kiss* amazing.
I wanna meet my shepard's kids. That's all I want from this new game.
Oh wow, I'm so surprised."
It could have had more impact with more details, but there was no DLC or sequel.
@@kylefunderburk4194 but that was the problem, Andromeda didn't feel like a mass effect game. It felt like DAI in space.
But the way choices were made, the lower quality of the characters and story lines, the way it was open world rather than linear, it wasn't really mass effect, it was just a game called mass effect.
we want shepard backkkkkk
It won't happen, but playing as Liara and Shepard's child would be awesome.
Love this idea. You need to 'assume control' of ME4 development lol :)
Just a theory but I think it could work. . .
BRING SHEPARD BACK!!!
me2+3 (besides the ending) storytelling with andromedas gameplay. thats all i want.
Exactly ! one of the reasons mass effect 2 is considered the best one is because of the fucking pacing ! we don’t need stupid open world stuff we need a few HUB areas sure, to talk with the crew outside the ship, but mass effect being a military focused story you just need to do a linear mission then check your crew after the mission that’s all 😭 just make sure the missions are varied and hub areas are interesting like omega and ilium to make sure the game has a bit of length and you get another masterpiece like ME2
Despite everything andromeda is probably my favorite game of the franchise the crew, the main character, and the mysteries. I really want more andromeda.
Why would you go back to Andromeda if you wanted to re-experience Mass Effect?
Also: Garrus deserves his own spin off 😘
Mass effect : Archangel
Return Shepard..
(Looking at you Cyberpunk 2077!)
I'd love more customisation options too, and mix up the combat.
Shepard be like
I died... Twice. And I'm still kicking ass
Every point in this video is 100% spot on!
I really hope BioWare gets Mass Effect as well as you do.
Destroying the Reapers is by far the best ending, so hopefully they made the "destroy" ending cannon.
It's cannon
Small, alive and detailed map > big empty map with scattered resources
BioWare can do a compelling story with a prequel to Mass Effect. There's a lot of lore that's never seen really. The Geth rebellion, the Krogan rebellion, nuking of Tachanka, First contact war....
NEEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDDD!!!!
This was a fantastic video. Made me think a lot about what I want from the game. Thanks for making it.
thank you for watching!
It might be cool for a control ending to see liara looking at just see some random reaper and realize that Shepard’s probably in there somewhere.
i want to see them bring back Shepard
I agree the re-manufactured endings are problematic. I dis-agree about Shepheard. I would like him back as my character.
I admire your love for mass effect
I want to play a Mass Effect game where you play as a Hanar and try to convert others to your religion.
Just go into Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons or other cult for the VR experience
This one would like to know if you heard the good news?
There's probably a Crusader Kings mod for that.
