6-8 weeks is about right, i had the same thing happen a couple years back. Broken fibula, very painful, initially it is shockingly painful then you start thinking maybe I just pulled something, doesnt seem that bad, but it doesnt get any better either so next day I went to the hospital, I was in a boot and crutches for a couple weeks then just a boot for a couple more weeks. If I was a prop athlete i could have probably been on the ice after 6 to 8 weeks.
Not only the ankle, the knee was also affected... as Mike Dubois said, 6 to 8 months considering the physio therapy that will be needed... Wishing him the best for a speedy recovery though...
@@bernardomontesdeoca130 obviously, that fall Trochek had was brutal, i'm hoping for a quick recovery for the underrated center. P.S I was cheering for Ottawa
I'm gonna assume he has a severed achilles tendon to go along with whatever else happened to his leg. That video is hard to watch in slow motion. If that happened to me I'd wouldn't be screaming in pain, I would pass out instantly and just lie there. this will definately affect his career in the short term, I hope he recovers well and comes back stronger than ever.
There are some good signs here that may not seem good, hopefully they're accurate. The pain is actually a good thing, the time to worry is when a serious looking injury doesn't come with much pain as it tends to mean there's some nerve damage as well (any really serious injuries I've had always seemed to be numb more than painful at first). Then when he was bending his knee under his own power with the doctors tending to him at around the 1:00 mark, they wouldn't be doing that or letting him do that if they thought it was a super serious knee injury (one would tend to think). Still looks really bad, but hopefully nowhere near as bad as first impressions give. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a positive diagnosis Vinny
@CrAzYCaM 8 You agreed and then contradicted yourself, go figure. The more severe the immediate pain, often times, the less severe the injury. Kick the couch with your pinky toe sometime (without breaking it, just a good stubbing) and compare that to a total dislocation of an ankle. Upon immediate response, the toe will be ten times worse (speaking from experience). Of course give it a few hrs and the ankle will then win easily, I'm simply talking about right away though.
@CrAzYCaM 8 Contradicting yourself again, not worth the bother to argue it, you disagree and agree. I stand by my assertion that most times with an injury like this, more pain tends to indicate less severe, and less pain can often indicate more severe long term damage.
"Pain is not a good indicator." "The more severe the pain, usually the more severe the injury." = contradiction. "Pain is not a good indicator" "the more severe the pain, the more severe the injury." = contradiction.
@@shelbymay9949 Sounds like it was just the ankle, and doesn't sound like an open dislocation or anything of the sort, not the knee or anything else. Seems like a fairly positive diagnosis considering the possibilities that such a fall could have come with.

This was so hard to watch but hats off to everyone on the ice. They didn't show a replay at all after the incident here in Florida. Such a weird night with the delay from a medical emergency etc hope he can recover. Such a big part of our team and keeps team moral high always. Was a dark and strange night overall if you watched the game. Prayers to him, his family, and whoever suffered the medical emergency in the arena late in the first. 0:55 What a good sport. Dzingel coming over to Trocheck after injuring him has to mean something about him and the hit. Hes a good sport, and didn't intend to injure.
This sucks as a panthers fan he is a great center and score the puck and now that he could be out for the rest of the season is bad I’m praying for u vinny
Ouch! Potential knee injury? I honestly think Vincent Trochek has played his last game this season. Also, not too long before (in real time), the first period was halted because a fan was in cardiac arrest and had to be taken to the hospital.
Eichs was his ankle tho, this is his knee. The way his knee bend reminds me of the zach miller touchdown that almost ended up with him needing to have his leg amputated below the knee.
Poor trocheck I remember watching him down here in san Antonio for the rampage good tell he was already much better then the players around him down here. Get well bro
This appeared to be more knee oriented. His leg flexed (the wrong direction) but it appeared to do so at his patellofemoral joint. Which isnt any better cause the way it bent he may have torn his ACL,MCL, and Patella tendon. Where as alex smiths leg was bending the wrong way below his knee in the tiba/fibula area where there shouldnt be any bending ever. For Vinnys sake id hope its just an acl or mcl cause you can comeback from those. But if he needs his knee pretty much completely restructured then hes in trouble
I agree with you there, but if you look at the replay in slow motion, you can see that his ankle/lower leg also bends unnaturally, but not as much as I first thought
Damn... I’m a Canucks fan but that’s hard to watch. Hope Trochek gets well soon! Well judging by those screams I assume it won’t be very soon but I hope he is still the same player once he is back.
The worst thing is that you don't have any class and at least whatever fans we do have here in Florida sure as hell aren't bandwagoners. Broken ankle? That’s a 3 split compound fracture. Immediate surgery and plates will be placed. He will be out for 3-6 months unless his skating is effected he might be done.
