I got to know tanner when he was with the Blackhawks minor league team he is such a great guy. Really worried about him hoping he will be ok that was a real scary hit.
It's definitely a bad hit. I don't think there was intent to injure there, based especially on Connolly waiting around to wish Kero well before quietly skating off with his head hung low. It shook Connolly emotionally as well, and that's pretty evident. I do think this will get somewhere from 1-5 games, as it should, but this is clearly not a Raffi Torres/Matt Cooke/Claude Lemieux situation.

In the moment,you're worried about your teammate. If it was something where Kero was on all fours,shaking it off,ok,but he wasn't moving and having difficulty breathing. Your priority becomes getting the trainer and doctor onto the ice to help your teammate- and you can't do that in the middle of a brawl. The last thing you wanna do in a situation like this is to brawl, literally,on top of your injured player. With regard to Connolly,if it was something where he has a history of hits like that,and factoring in the rivalry,I'm sure he'll have to answer for it in the next matchup between these two teams. It makes no sense to fight someone who just got thrown out
