This is part of why Billy always talks down abut D'Arcy and James as musicians because his version of perfection was so much higher than others and why he played most if not all of the string parts on the early albums. The only reason he did not have issue with Chamberlin was because Billy is not a very good drummer by his own admission so he was always fond of Jimmy as a musician.

4:41 I've listened to this song on the record at least 1000 times and have always been amazed by the guitar. I've read Billy/Butch layered something 40 guitar tracks together to make this solo - some of which used an E-bow. I'm super impressed with how well he played it here, live, with a single guitar.

    As I've always felt
    And I'll betray my tears
To anyone caught in our ruse of fools
One last kiss for me, yeah
    One last kiss goodnight
Didn't want to lose you once again
Didn't want to be your friend
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
    Crawled back to you

As I've always felt (don't wait up for me)
I'll betray myself (hush now, don't you speak)

So let the sadness come again

I love his part. And almost every video of them playing it live, the camera never switches to cover him. (Which always makes me a bit disappointed.) Both parts are amazing, but the way they complement each other is other-worldly. Such a great song. Truly one of my faves by them.

there is actually a really good 90's grunge/alternative/emo revival going on these days, please look for these bands: basement, superheaven, violent soho, milk teeth, recreator, citizen, bully, speedy ortiz.

Siamese Dream is in my top 5 albums of all time, and this is my favorite track from that album. The 90’s was a great time for music, and frankly the last time that music felt important, artistic, with a slight pretentious edge to it. Everything since the late 90’s on, is corporate bullshit. Manufactured stars. Not an ugly person anywhere to be seen.
Its a fucking shame that I have to search long and hard on Bandcamp and youtube, reading Indie blogs and whatnot, to find the real musical artists of today, who are making barely any money.
