Corgan's solo is obviously epic for so many reasons - no doubt about it. Hands down a superior guitar player. But the continuation of the solo during the bridge by Iha is so, so critical and well executed every time I hear the live versions of this song. When Billy starts singing again and takes over the power chords, it's just a perfect example of everyone in the band knowing their role at any given time. Iha doesn't get the respect that he deserves!!!
Seen them do this song live old and new and I can say they will hypnotize u with softness then blow your head off as if u get hit by thor's hammer. They've always been the best band at melancholy. Even now.
Yeah pixies never had the catalog sp had. It's just masterpeice after masterpeice with them. They have so many great songs. That a mind blower like starla can be elusive to people that don't dive into the band. I truly believe sp was more than just that. I believe as pompous as Billy is. He was our modern day Mozart. Have u heard 99 floors?
Not sure anything can beat this. Pumpkins have always been my favorite band and will forever be so. The first time I heard Siamese Dream in the 90s changed music for me forever. Mellon Collie is a roller coaster ride of emotions and is the 90s version of Dark Side of the Moon. Nothing ever released can top these two albums.
@@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy6 not at all. Mellon collie was more creative and brilliant then anything Radiohead puts out. I know siamese dreams was the album this gentleman said was dark side. But siamese is meddle and mellon collie is dark side.if we are in comparison of floyd and pumpkins. Radiohead is amazing dont get me wrong. But they have a formula. Pumpkins always tried to evolve. Even if it was not what "critics" wanted. Radiohead is "critics" darling 1st born. Pumpkins just like RUSH were left field, misunderstood, and at the mid 90s NO band DARE put an album out that was completely different from there others. Radiohead only did this from pablo honey to kid A after that they could do no wrong. Pumpkins went gish, siamese, Mellon collie,Adore, machina and so on. I see evolution every album progressed them to what they became. And they are pink floyd of the 90s.
Totally agree. Although... in retrospect... can't choose between Mogwai or SP to be my most favorite band of all time. But the 90s era of SP... just brilliant.
My top for Pumpkins carnage was probably the height of their ‘96 tour. There’s a particularly good version of XYU and Porcelina floating around out there. Best fucking band in the world. They were, at least. ❣️💔🖤 sold out fan as a teenager. I would have died for SP. My room was a shrine. I had 300 boots by the time I was 16. So fucking sad to see my band fall off so hard.
This is hands down the best live version of this song I have found. That moment when the song changes from a sweet, quiet little lullaby to a rage filled bomb going off is the moment the hairs all over my body stand up!
This hits hard bro like chains of bombs exploding inner ear pounding in time with vivid light/colours this is intense how is this legal haha ,quality capture of this all though memorable moment of also finding this gem , With noise cancelling headset and a grainy 240p quality the colour and sound combine what extra dimentional or somthing yeah
looks nothing like him. but this sounds like a compliment, to get inspiration from himself. back in that time kids most likely tried to do something meaningful. today kids strive to post the most clever comment.
Starting off in such a dreamy, underwater blur, only to culminate into a pure gamma ray burst that almost tears the universe in two. What a bewilderingly awesome tune. Ive seen it live more than once, even from this 94 tour. Every time it utterly floors me.
Ok, seriously, Who are the 2 depraved individuals that gave this a 👎🏼. This is one if their best ever songs, being performed to ABSOLUTE PERFECTION 💯⭐️
I remember riding around with my friend and smoking weed. He put siemese dream on. I can explain the emotions I felt that whole car ride driving to Houston. Then the next album came out and I was hooked. Billy is a great song writer and player
The guitar pedals and effects used on this version elevate a great song to even greater heights. Seen them do this song at different gigs but this is the tops. Perfection
Absolutely. I’d love to know the gear he used because it’s incredible. Definitely won’t ever be close to that level of talent (and I’ve been playing since I was 5 - 40 years). It’d be cool to find out which pedals, at least.
chills *everytime* all the way up & down. these songs are such an incredible display of rock 'n roll, i almost can't adequately process the full depth of emotion they invoke
Got into the pumpkins just before Siamese dream come out and blew me away. Still an amazing album and stands the test of the time. The best band of the 90s and criminally underated. Just hope one day we see all of the band together again.
I started listening in ‘91 with Gish, which my much too old at the time boyfriend had given me and I fell in love. 93-94 were Billy’s prime. Siamese Dream had some of the most beautiful and hard songs on it. Plus, Billy’s short hair and beautiful face didn’t hurt, especially in the first few rows.
I've heard a lot of music of many yrs, & this is some of the best shit to ever b!!! 1 of the actual most underrated bands ever, but I have always sung their praises!!!!
Filmed at the Astoria, London, England, Saturday 26 February 1994. Also check out ScottishTeeVee's TH-cam channel, as they have uploaded the full 24 minute footage broadcast on MTV from this gig. That video is titled, "London 1994 HD Smashing Pumpkins."
Monsieur John I saw them on MTV for the first time and thought „how great and powerfull“ and became a big fan until today. Imo one of the best music creative band considering mellon collies as a masterpiece!

yes, and of course it doesn't do any harm that Billy is a perfectionist.
So true. It's seamless, really. Iha's leads on Thru the Eyes of Ruby live are incredible.
Agree on every word!!!
YESSSS James’ part of the solo is so integral to building the climax of the song. Been saying this for years.
Facts 👍
God, that solo...
Craig Wildenradt the solo is legit my personal favorite from Smashing Pumpkins
Savage.
That solo is the best I have ever heard on the Album, but here he missed it Live, sadly
@@Mindrex327 Sounds like he's ripping it pretty good
@@Mindrex327 Billy Corgan never play the same solo twice. That is James Iha's job.

Starla?
OK Computer is by far the Dark Side of The Moon of the 90s.

Best track off the greatest album of the 90s.
For me it's tied with Mayonaise
This is hands down the best live version of this song I have found. That moment when the song changes from a sweet, quiet little lullaby to a rage filled bomb going off is the moment the hairs all over my body stand up!
Gosh you got it to a t with that explanation. Old school pumpkins for life.

Yaa u right.. That solo it's something magical as all song is
You're right, this song changes like an hurricane
Actual Billy in 2:24, travelling time in search of inspiration.
Juan Monterroso damn

Chamberlain absolutely nailing that drum kit 👌
So glad I grew up in the 90s
We were the last generation to truly keep it real
same here man, grew up loving and still loving real music. nothing comes close.
Exactly. Today they have Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus

Courtney Love and D'Arcy
Man this is the most perfect music I’ve ever heard, if I had the talent I’d want my music to sound like this
This is my favorite guitar solo hands down. So much emotion!!
I remember riding around with my friend and smoking weed. He put siemese dream on. I can explain the emotions I felt that whole car ride driving to Houston. Then the next album came out and I was hooked. Billy is a great song writer and player
Ha yes good times. I did the same with the Beatles Love album.😁
He’s one of the best of all of rock n roll

Real talk
Siamese dream to me is a perfect album my favorite album of thd 90s and maybe ever
BEST EVER live version of this- also on the “rarities & b-sides” collection
My fav live version of this song!

Best guitar solo ever. Just my humble opinion.
Pau Lee you are so right
really ??
I am glad they did this video to show what pumpkins were really like in the beginning. I sort of agree.
Wow thats much major praise
Paul Lee get your eye on. 3 on 🎸 is that mean 'solo'.
I remember listening to this whole album drunk, in the dark, at home on 10... Than AIC-Dirt, than Slayer -Seasons in the Abyss! Ex
whoever did the lighting at this gig deserves a massive pat on the back.
I miss the 90's sooo much!!
Magical.
In 1 word yes but it's more... I'm so crazy about this songs of Sp 💓
I was there that night, 30 years later still one of the best nights of my life
best song
this should've been the official music video
You mean as a single ?
I don't think so. It's not very marketable like Today or Cherub Rock if that's what you mean.
Kristopher Ryan 😑
how did the world not explode after this solo?
It totally did.
That scat-singing section at the end... The best little musical idea in the genre.
It’s amazing his vocal range and intensity.
Corgan playin style Is so underrated, he is quite a complete artist!!

There's no going back to the original version after this 😲
❤ just incredible
I can totally relate I have been lied to for a long time
you can actually hear darcy's backup vocs and it sounds super rad
Soooooo good. So true to the album version. Except with that 100% rockin' vibe!!!
I love so much
Awesome band 🌹❤️

Nothing left to say
And all I've left to do
Is run away from you
She led me on, down
With secrets I can't keep
Close your eyes and sleep
Don't wait up for me
Hush now, don't you speak
To me
Wrapped my hurt in you
And took my shelter in that pain
The opiate of blame
Is your broken heart, heart, your heart
So now I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
And I'll betray my tears
To anyone caught in our ruse of fools
One last kiss for me, yeah
One last kiss goodnight
Didn't want to lose you once again
Didn't want to be your friend
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
Crawled back to you
I'm all by myself (close your eyes and sleep)
As I've always felt (don't wait up for me)
I'll betray myself (hush now, don't you speak)
To anyone lost, anyone but you
So let the sadness come again
On that you can depend on me, yeah
Until the bitter, bitter end of the world, yeah
When God sleeps in bliss
I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray myself
To anyone
One last kiss....goodnight
