When I cook steel cut oats overnight in the crockpot I put them in a Corningware baking dish with all of the ingredients. I sit the dish in the crockpot and add water to the crockpot until it's about halfway up the side of the bakeware. I put the lid on without covering the baking dish and cook overnight on low. It comes out perfectly and doesn't burn.
Well that was a surprise! I’m laying on the couch watching this, hear my name and my husband looks up and says, “is that you she’s talking about? Do you even know her?”
A Country Life-"Do you even know her?", that's hilarious!! I literally jumped the first, ok, only time someone mentioned my name on their channel. Great recipe!! :)
The roast recipe reminded me a lot of Mississippi roast it’s literally the same stuff just u add au ju gravy packets in as well! Sooo good and u can also do that for other meat , not just beef roast , chicken , pork it works well with those too ! So yummy 😋
I was just coming here to say the same thing lol I make Mississippi roast all the time. It's one of our favorites. I've done the chicken as well but my husband wasn't a fan (I think it was the specific chicken used, not the concept).
Not only are you not crazy, but your boyfriend is entirely in the wrong? Was he raised by wolves, how does he not know you put onion soup in with a roast?!
You must try doing a beef brisket in the crock pot with a packet of dried french onion soup mix and a cup of water. Chuck it all in the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours
The ranch and peroncini recipe was the first meal my grown up son cooked for himself that he was super proud of. I think he makes it twice a month or so :D
We ate that chicken for ever--"Red Chicken" we called it, but we used cheap Apricot jam. It's really good if you overlook all that high fructose corn syrup!
Apricot jam sounds yummy im going to try it out with raspberry jam as that is what I have on hand. Was just thinking about apricot jam with a pork loin that would be delicious as well. Pork is amazing with a sweet sauce
Love your videos! You’ve taught me a lot. Something my mom always taught me is if you’re chicken isn’t as flavorful as you’d like you can put the chicken and sauce into a container to marinate it first in the fridge over night!
The oil on the counter will stain your quartz and the small dish holding your dish soap will also stain the quartz. I don’t know if water gets under the dish soap container or what but it left a yellowing stain on my quartz. Also wine will stain! Fyi
I do a peppercini beef and or pork butt. I use the sliced peppercinis (large jar) juice and all and the meat. I don't do the different seasonings. When it is ready I take the juice the meat and peppercinis was cooked in and use it to make couscous instead of the water the box calls for. My kids absolutely love it.
Crockpot oatmeal tip! Put a smaller (oven safe) baking dish in your crockpot - one that's more suitable to the amount of oatmeal you are making and then add a cup of water to the crock. One of the big issues is that the amount of oatmeal made tends to be dwarfed by the crock (unless you have a really big family or a mini crockpot.) Since the crockpot is calibrated to heat a full one it helps to offset the heat. This is a Stephanie Odea tip back from... 2008? I think? The blog is how I started making crockpot oatmeal.
This is a great idea for custard too! Do you think it would work? 🤞🏻😋👍🏻 I’m doing keto and custard is my go to dessert but I just don’t want to use my oven for 2 teeny ramekins. Imma gonna try! 🏃🏻♀️.......
I use bartenders friend to clean my pots, pans or casserole dishes then follow up with dish soap and rinse well. All of my pots are still that new silver color despite being 8 years old!
I do a chuck roast seared on stove then crock pot then stick of butter on top sprinkle one envelope of brown gravy one envelope ranch or Alioil then the can of Pepperchini’s but I take the stems off cook on low as you did for like 6-8 hours. Shred meat abit and pull some of the fat off if you like. it’s my family favorite served over mashed potatoes.
SOS/Brillo pads will remove the baking dish stains. It's oil that the soap stick to but doesn't wipe away when washed then dries darker and stuck. You can also use baking soda and a dry to damp paper towel.
When you dumped the cinnamon in there my heart dropped! Bcus I’ve never known anyone else use cinnamon the way I use it! 😂 I love it!!! 😋 I put it in yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal, rice pudding, toast and even my coffee.
😂🤣love it! He's sad that he's full! Too cute!!! 💖 Thanks ,I love Crock-Pot recipes,so much! This time of year, especially, Crock-Pots are my friends! We have two and have been known to have both going at one time. 😎👍
Better Off Dead is a Must See 80s movie. When John Cusack is in the dumpster and the guy says “ Look. Someone threw away a perfectly good white boy,”. Classic. Also, since we left Idaho I can’t tell you how much I miss Winco. Oh, and my family, too.
If you ever have a lid that is hard to get off, invert the jar upside down, tap lid on counter (straight down, not at angle)...it releases the pressure and the lid will twist off with ease. Keep the videos coming :)
So cool everyone sitting down at the table for dinner. It's a lost art. I use a crock pot I was given last Christmas very frequently. I am making chicken cacciatore tonight.
All really good, love your families reaction to all of the meals, you feed them well and you can see how much they appreciate it! :) The rice dish that you made reminded me of a dish I do called Baked Rice Pilaf. It's very similar to what you did except you cook it on the stove just for a few minutes first so that you can also caramelise an onion diced along with a bit of garlic, then add the rice and the stock, allow it to cook for a few minutes and then transfer it to a baking dish, covered, and cook it in the oven for about 25-30 mins. I know the point of this is that you are using your crockpot but you could add some onion and garlic to your version and see what you think of it, just really adds something and takes it up another level. Also, you add the butter to this afterwards and just kind of fork it through once all the liquid has absorbed, really nice though so would love it if you'd try it sometime. Think the way your family are with garlic you'd like it! :)
About opening jars...it's hard to open because its been vacuum sealed. You have to break the vacuum. Get a bottle opener and gently lift the top slightly. Now the top will come off easily.
I thought the same thing. The only difference i noticed was the Italian seasonings which I am sure made it delish! I usually only put a few peppers.... Apparently I need to add more!
That beef recipe looks like Italian beef, just a little different. We make it, slice it, then get good sub rolls and provolone or muenster cheese. Sllice rolls and put in oven with the cheese until the cheese melts, top with the beef, some of the peppers (remove the stems) and a little of the beef au jus. So good.
Yeeessssss i LOVE buttered rice! I make it on the stove, but seriously put the same three ingredients! Rice, butter, chicken bouillon. So good! Ooo! But i also grew up eating it with some canned corn in it too! So so good!
I'm making the cranberry chicken today. It's in the crockpot now but taking into consideration the tip about the blandness of the chicken by itself I poked the chicken with a knife a few times to see if that helps the marinade mixture seep into the chicken for more flavor.
Here are some easy good crock pot recipes I use Creamy ranch pork chops Good and easy beef and gravy Cabbage rolls Stuffed peppers Pepper steak Chicken enchiladas Maple bacon wrapped pork loin Beef stroganoff Beef hash Beef barley soup Pot roast Lasgna Meatloaf Mexican corn bread chili
The butter roast is a variation of Mississippi pot roast but I use onion soup mix instead of au jus mix. I've made is several times and a chuck roast works the best.
Use oven cleaner on your stained casserole dish. Found out years ago on a pyrex dish that I couldn't scrub clean. Been using it on glass dishes ever since. Works great!
Try using a chuck roast ( or two) and shred it, then return to crock pot for an hour. Serve over mashed potatoes. Leftovers (if any) can be made into sandwiches. I’ve also added a packet of brown gravy mix, but usually leave out Italian packet, as it becomes too salty.
This is how I do the Butter Beef from Tiffany: 1 pkt Italian dressing mix, 1 pkt Ranch dressing mix, 1 stick butter, 1 jar sliced banana peppers with liquid, 1 (3 lb) beef chuck tender roast. Place roast in crock. Sprinkle both pkts of seasoning over the roast to coat well. Place stick of butter on top of meat. Pour entire jar of peppers and liquid around roast, careful not to disturb seasoning. I don't add extra water, it doesn't need it. I also don't pour the peppers over the roast because I want the meat to cook with the seasonings on it before I pull it apart. SO super good!
This is very similar to the Mississippi Pot Roast recipe that is all the craze. I believe it uses a pack of Au Jus instead of the italian seasoning pack. Also, the 1/4 of reserved juice is what is supposed to be added to the recipe as the peppers are supposed to be drained. The way it's worded makes it seem as if that 1/4 will be used later for something. I prefer more liquid as it adds more of a tang. Thought I'd clear it up in case others had questions or don't prefer such a tangy flavor from all the extra juice. My family isn't a fan of peppers at all so I recently made a chick roast using 1 pack of ranch, 1 pack of italian seasoning & 1 pack of brown gravy. Combine that with a little water or beef broth & cook in the crockpot all day. My crew preferred it that way. I also add potatoes & carrots in with the roast to cook all day. Love that you tested these recipes out. Would love to see another video testing others from Crocktober.
I made the roast but use and onion soup packet instead of Italian seasoning. I have seen others use a packet of gravy or au jus. In Pinterest it’s called a Mississippi roast. My family loves it! Just giving alternatives for something you may have on hand.
Take a Brillo or S.O.S. pad to your casserole dish that you fixed the rice in that you paired with the first crock pot dish (the cranberry chicken) in order to get whatever got baked onto the rim.
My recipe for Missippi pot roast is 3 lbs of chuck roast, 1 pkt of onion soup mix, 1 ranch dressing mix, 1 stick butter & pepperoni to taste. I cook it for about 6-7 hrs on low. It is amazing!
Even baking soda + dawn or your favorite liquid dish soap made into a paste and rubbed on with a wash cloth would do the job. But, Christine, for sure clean it BEFORE baking in it or it just gets too big a deal. Might have to bribe a kiddo for that kind of elbow grease!
Try some baking soda with a damp sponge for the stains on your casserole dish. I use it as an all purpose stain remover around the kitchen especially. Thanks for all the awesome videos, I enjoy your channel!
I used to make overnight steel cut oats. It's not your particular crockpot--many do this with this kind of recipe. One workaround is to plug the pot into a light timer so it runs only 3-5 hours on low. If you're not comfortable leaving the milk out at room temp that long, use water and just add a splash of milk in the morning.
You should crock out the rest of October. Make a few different meals and make ready made frozen dinners! Just grab what you want for dinner in the morning with all the delicious crock pot meals she shares. That’s what we are doing! 🥰
I just ran across your videos about 2 hours ago I absolutely love love love how do you make things look so easy so very affordable and I love using my crockpot as well, while I'm cleaning my dinner is cooking and save some electric bill from not having to use the oven oh, well I take that back I just learned how to make my mother's yeast rolls dealership thank you for your videos I'm watching all that you have. And such a nice looking family you have and you are all so funny I like that also all-around great videos!!!
If you switch out the Italian seasoning for an au jus packet on your roast, you've got a Mississippi pot roast (I don't know why it's called that 😆). It's good with pork or chicken too
Hats what I was going to comment, too! I also prefer to cut up my peppers because I found them difficult to cut after they’ve cooked, and I throw in a bag of baby carrots because carrots and ranch go together always.
If there's no such thing as French dressing where you live, there are easy recipes to make a small batch to have on hand. Pepperoncinis are a type of mild pepper, usually bought pickled. They're also known as Tuscan peppers, sweet Italian peppers, or Greek peppers. You could substitute with any mild pickled peppers. Onion soup mix can be substituted with dehydrated onion or onion powder and some powdered bouillon or other all-purpose seasoning mix.
FOR FRENCH DRESSING: ▢1 large clove garlic ▢2/3 cup sunflower, safflower, or other light vegetable oil ▢1/4 cup white vinegar ▢1/4 cup apple cider vinegar ▢3 tablespoons honey, more or less to taste ▢1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce ▢1 teaspoon Dijon mustard ▢1 teaspoon paprika ▢3/4 teaspoon salt, plus additional to taste ▢1/2 teaspoon garlic powder ▢1/2 teaspoon onion powder ▢Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
The first recipe is impossible to make in Europe. The only thing that i can buy here is the chicken. There are so many great American recipes that you can make from scratch but many Americans love using cans and jars of things that are hard to find outside of the US. Try finding frozed orange juice concentrate ;-)
We call that beef roast a Mississippi pot roast and we use Lipton onion soup mix instead of Italian seasoning and don't add water. But yes, it's absolutely delicious!
For crockpot steel cut oats, I have to add double the liquid than what they typically call for to keep it from doing that. You can also COOK it with water and drizzle on some half and half or cream when serving instead of using a whole bunch of milk from the beginning. I mix in some vanilla extract with the cream to make it extra yummy! Also, since you already have a Dutch oven, you could start the oatmeal on the stove top and then stick it in a 350 degree oven. Turn the oven off and let it cook with the residual heat overnight. Absolutely no burning! Might be a little thick in the morning, but you can just stir in some extra liquid of choice to loosen it up. I would suggest cooking with water for this one, though.
We call the beef recipe Mississippi roast..we make it the same and add a packet of aju. You don't have to add extra salt between the ranch and aju. You can also serve over rice. You can use really any kind of tougher beef like a top or bottom sirloin
"Whiskey business" 😂😂😂 and "doodly doo".. 😂 😂 😂 Try baking soda with a bit of dish wash liquid paste (equal ratios) for the casserole dish stain. Spot treat, leave for a 5-10mins and wipe off with a soft sponge.. Make sure to pre soak the dish in warm water, so the dish is warm when the paste goes on, it helps loosens the stains🙂
I usually make a paste with baking soda, vinegar and dish soap. It will get gunk off my enameled cast iron stuff super easily and same for my casserole dishes!
I’m so shocked at the amount of crockpot TH-camrs I’m finding that don’t use liners. It makes it SO much easier, you don’t have to clean the pot at all. That’s me being “efficient” lol.
Howdy from Texas! The cranberry chicken reminds me of the apricot chicken that my grandmother, then my mother, and now I always made/make. Three generations - WOW!! Anyway, it was a cut up chicken that she salted, peppered, and layered with onions. She baked the chicken for 1/2 an hour, then added the "sauce" which was one envelope onion soup mix, a bottle of Wishbone Russian dressing, and a jar of apricot preserves, whisked and then poured over the chicken and baked another 1/2 hour. There was a "dry" period in which we could never get the Russian dressing (thank heavens I can get it again), during which we substituted - you guessed it, FRENCH (or is it Fransch 😂) dressing. We always ate it over mashed potatoes. Like I said, my grandmother and mother always cut up a whole chicken, but I usually always use chicken tenders. They bake in half the time!! I never thought about using a crock pot for this! Oh my GOODNESS, that would be SOOOO much easier!! I also want to try the cranberry instead of the apricot. That would be great for the fall months, and cranberry is so good for you, especially cranberry sauce - yes, the OFFICIAL kind that has can rings - my table knows no other!!!😂🤣😂 I think I'll stick with the Russian dressing, though. If you haven't tried it, you might want to give it a thought - it's lovely! Thank you so much for sharing these recipes, I'm not good with coming up with crock pot stuff. We always had a crock pot but never used it, so I don't have any "heritage" references, nothing to go by. I'm physically at a point where I have to find ways to make things more easily. Dump and go sounds right to me!! So thanks again for sharing!! 💖💖💖
For the oatmeal- I have done steel cut overnight in the crock pot for years! I do 3/1 liquid to oats ratio (or 4/1 if you like it a little thinner) and keep it on warm for at least 10 hours. I add frozen fruit, applesauce, almond butter, spices. I usually add any other sweetener in the morning to test how much it needs. Unless I do it on low or don't add enough liquid, I've never had an issue!
“I’m so sad I’m full”.
What a huge compliment (and witty!).
Oh my! I say that all the time ⏲ 🤣

"I'm not lazy, I'm efficient." Pure gold 😂
To make that beef dish go further, shred it and serve on hoagies a la French Dip. Could even top with sliced Swiss cheese and broil briefly.
Omfg...why does that sound SOOOOOOO freaking GOOOOOOOOD!!!!😳😋😋😋
Right!!! Just tried the beef on hoagies with the sliced peppers and cheese. It was bomb as a sandwich
Good idea doing a broil! Will do that next time
Ya I though she was going to serve it on a roll I was surprised that fed 6 people lol. I might use provolone only cause I don’t like Swiss cheese

Yes! I have a crock pot that's round and I put the ingredients in a bowl that sits inside and use a water bath to prevent that burning.
I basically do the same thing but I take a 7 inch round cake pan

I season pretty much EVERYTHING with onion soup mix 🤣😂 Roasts, meatloaf, potatoes, spaghetti sauce, tacos, etc lol
Me too!! Adds such good flavor!!

You must try doing a beef brisket in the crock pot with a packet of dried french onion soup mix and a cup of water. Chuck it all in the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours
If you like wine try replacing the water with red wine. Even better
I put mustard on top of the roast, then the onion soup mix. Yum!

SOS/Brillo pads will remove the baking dish stains. It's oil that the soap stick to but doesn't wipe away when washed then dries darker and stuck. You can also use baking soda and a dry to damp paper towel.

"These mashed potatoes are so creamy ..." movie reference? While You Were Sleeping.
You got it!!!
@@FrugalFitMom right?
I made the roast but use and onion soup packet instead of Italian seasoning. I have seen others use a packet of gravy or au jus. In Pinterest it’s called a Mississippi roast. My family loves it!
Just giving alternatives for something you may have on hand.
I really like the new counter and backsplash
Take a Brillo or S.O.S. pad to your casserole dish that you fixed the rice in that you paired with the first crock pot dish (the cranberry chicken) in order to get whatever got baked onto the rim.
19:15 Your hair actually looks very pretty when it's "not done" Christine
My recipe for Missippi pot roast is 3 lbs of chuck roast, 1 pkt of onion soup mix, 1 ranch dressing mix, 1 stick butter & pepperoni to taste. I cook it for about 6-7 hrs on low. It is amazing!
Try BarKeeper’s Friend on the rice/casserole dish!
Yeah, I was thinking something like that or a Magic Eraser
@@kerrough try cleaning with BOTH- it gets rid of everything
Even baking soda + dawn or your favorite liquid dish soap made into a paste and rubbed on with a wash cloth would do the job. But, Christine, for sure clean it BEFORE baking in it or it just gets too big a deal. Might have to bribe a kiddo for that kind of elbow grease!
SOS pads are awesome for cleaning stains off Corning ware.
I would be terrible at Crocktober. My crock pot meals go for three days to a week. Of course it's just the dog and I....
That’s how I am, except substitute cat for dog. I often fix meal that will suffice for 2 or 3 meals just so I won’t have to cook as much.
Nothing wrong with that! Even easier with fewer mouths to feed.
Lol Christine, stop stressing about wearing makeup, I like you for you and I don't care if you wear make up or not. Just letting you know.
Better Off Dead is one of my favorite movies! The way she pronounces "French dressing, French bread, Peru." So funny! Can't wait to try these recipes.
It is really a big deal with how nice your videos are looking now with the white countertops! 🙌🏻
French dressing? Pepperochinis? Onion soup mix? European fan confused 🤷🏻♀️
FOR FRENCH DRESSING:
▢1 large clove garlic
▢2/3 cup sunflower, safflower, or other light vegetable oil
▢1/4 cup white vinegar
▢1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
▢3 tablespoons honey, more or less to taste
▢1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
▢1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
▢1 teaspoon paprika
▢3/4 teaspoon salt, plus additional to taste
▢1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
▢1/2 teaspoon onion powder
▢Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
yeah watching americans cook is crazy!
Oh we get confused by you guys too lol. Milk in a bag? Pudding that looks like charcoal briquettes ? Beans on everything? Why?
The first recipe is impossible to make in Europe. The only thing that i can buy here is the chicken. There are so many great American recipes that you can make from scratch but many Americans love using cans and jars of things that are hard to find outside of the US. Try finding frozed orange juice concentrate ;-)
Sos pads work great on the stained casserole dish.
For the staining on your dish, try a magic eraser.
This or an SOS pad! Saves you from scrubbing your arms off 😆
The pepperoncini roast is a family favorite! We eat it on rolls. Yum!
Our family favorite too! I got this off of Pioneer Woman Cooking Show several years ago. Fantastic!
"Two dollars....I want my two dollars". Love that movie, a forgotten gem.
My steel cut oats always turns into flavorless concrete.
My mom used to make the cranberry chicken (baked) it was the first meal I cooked for my now husband too.
I'm obsessed with "efficient" and will be stealing forever.
Same girl!! ❤️🙌🏻👏🏻
Same 😂

My sister makes that beef as a beef dip sandwich , put on buns and add French fried onions! And shredded cheese! Yumm
Sweetie, you don't need makeup!
I agree, or is it just those new countertops?! The lighting has always been your friend, but maybe because you love them so much, you're glowing!
We call the beef recipe Mississippi roast..we make it the same and add a packet of aju. You don't have to add extra salt between the ranch and aju. You can also serve over rice. You can use really any kind of tougher beef like a top or bottom sirloin
I will never be a home made cranberry sauce person. I will always be a "slice the cranberry sauce with the ridges of the can" type of person
We do that beef roast with a packet of ranch dressing and a packet of au jus gravy mix instead of the Italian seasoning and it is soooo good
"Whiskey business" 😂😂😂 and "doodly doo"..
That pumpkin oat dish looks amazing. I think I'll add a little ginger too. Yumm.
Going to make everything in this video.
I love how the littlest dude ate double meaning the biggest dude didn't get any!
I use Bar Keeper’s Friend on my white pans to keep them clean. Hope this helps you.
Best movie ever! It’s a real shame when folks be throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that. 😆
The Chemist-I was looking for this comment because I mention liners in an upcoming video, lol!! I never cook without a liner. I'm "efficient" too :).
I can't find liners that fit my pot.😣
never even realize that it was a thing. Will definitely be looking to buy them now, thanks
Your down to earth and so much fun to watch keep your videos coming. Thanks and God bless
Note to self: watch better off dead once kids are sleeping
Soft scrub with a gentle scrub pad will remove the stainon your casserole dish. ajust gently scrub until the stain comes off.
The beef dish is almost Mississippi pot roast in the Instantpot. Delish!
To clean your casserole use a lil baking soda and water. I have the same ones and been doing this for years. Works great.
