Hello. First, welcome to Sweden. Thank you for an interesting post, as born in Sweden but with a background of having traveled a lot, I can share your interest in other cultures and through that I have learned how comfortable life in Sweden can be if you make the bed well. I am keeping this in English as that is the language you use in your posts. If your partner works from home, you can deduct it from the annual tax! Calculate what the m2 price is for the house, not the plot, multiply it by the area that your partner uses as a workspace and you get what you have to write as a tax deduction. As for your address, well it took 10 seconds for me to find your address, both phone numbers, living space, etc. What you have to remember when you move to Sweden is that ALL of this information is public. I don't want to go into it more for your sake but think about it, protect your real name from public platforms like YT if you are a public figure which you indirectly are through this channel! This applies throughout Scandinavia, so be careful, there are sharks in even the shallowest waters so just be a bit careful dude
Regarding not handing out your location. As I see you've changed the channel name which helps, but remember that if the registration number on any of your vehicles (car, motorcycle, trailer etc.) is shown in a video your name and rough location can be looked up incredibly easily. Then that information can of course be used to find your exact address super fast.
Marion Nijssen
Remember, there are reasons why Filipstad and other places have cheap properties. If you are fine with the reasons you'll ofc do a bargain until the day you sell.
@@osleoh oh god yes, they are bad in summertime. Together with the midges they can drive you crazy if you're not well prepared with bug protection. They're certainly worse than in NL but it makes sense and still a worthwhile tradeoff.
Almost no jobs I've had had fixed hours as to when to arrive and leave, in theory I was supposed to arrive between 7-9 and work till 15-18, or something like that, but in practice I could come in at noon and work to midnight, or come in at 4 and leave at noon. That was in IT and very independent work, it doesn't really matter what time of day you hack a bug away, as long as you get it done. I don't even remember when I last had to make a phone call, probably in the late 90ies, it's been all online for quite a while. This could very well be different if you don't have a personnummer and bank ID (or whatever the bank used for verification of identity previous to bank ID). A thing I think you missed in shooting tests is to be able to see if an animal is close enough to be shot at, ie a hare must be max 50 m away from you.
Thanks for the in depth answers. Tack för de utförliga svaren. Bedankt voor de uitgebreide antwoorden. Heb je inmiddels de diepvrieskist al vol kunnen stoppen met wild?

Hi Tom! Great video with a lot of useful information. I have follow up question on your experience of getting a personal number. Were you able to get it without any problems while being unemployed in Sweden or it went smoothly because your partner is hired in Sweden? Thanks
@@ojszcz you need to show a contract of employment or enough savings. We had both (yes because a partners income also counts) but you don't HAVE to have a job. Not sure what the amount of savings is that you need but suffice to say you need to prove you can live here for about a year.
Tax for good video. - but there is no need to be afraid of someone finding your address, 20 sec online and you can find all information about you and your wife, its just how sweden is. I would recommend that you remove your phone number from online search, if you call your provider, they can help with that.
Freedom and integrity are things that seem like something from outer space for most "fellow" Swedes. Same with that gun license nonsense: through most of Sweden's history gun laws didn't exist at all. To buy a gun you simply went to a gun store, a hardware store or a pawnbroker's and bought any gun you wanted. You could carry it anywhere as well. In 1934 gun licenses were introduced with the specific purpose to make it harder for socialists (REAL socialists, not the typical NPCs believing in social democracy) to buy guns the legal way. And people just accepted it. They also accepted every NEW infringement almost every 10th year from then. So it went from free guns for more than 500 years to draconic gun laws within just the last 90 years. Swedish conformism and worship of authority in a nutshell.
@@hannayoung9657 it wasn't when we moved and maybe it's only for non EU immigrants or is it for everybody? Also, usually it's tied to receiving benefits which we don't get anyways.

Yes you do need a certified gun safe and you need to tick a box to say you have one when requesting the gun licenses. Theoretically the police can come and check to see if it's in order and if it's not, you may get into trouble. I did not need to hand over any evidence that I had a safe though I believe. But it's a no-brainer even if it wasn't the law to have a safe place to store your guns. Mine was about SEK 8.000 so it's an additional cost but it's not the end of the world.
I realised that and although I think I'm not big enough for any type of trouble, it is all public so I've now changed it. When I come up with something better I might change it again, but at least I'm not as exposed now as before.
