      Because if the black and brown migrants in sweden find out your location you will get visits from them... like in south africa white farmers get visited by blacks.
      Guess what happens to the farmers if they don't have guns and other forms of protection ????

    I live in Småland which is in the southern part of Sweden and I too am surrounded by forest and lakes, and lots of wildlife as well. Last evening while driving home I saw 1 moose, 1 fox, 2 deer x 2, and a bore(wildhog) with a litter of babies.

      Used to live in a small town called Mullsjö, on the outskirts there was a road that you would pretty much always see deer and sometimes moose next to. It's a smaller road that runs a bit parallel with the road 47 (southeast of VIP hotell) and goes past a small place called Västerkärr. Ironically, the same road was in the news for having a dude with insane christmas lights setup. People slowed down to look at it to the point of it almost becoming a traffic hazard 🤣, he paid like several hundred dollars just to those light on for like a month.
      Ive seen moose in Mullsjö itself, close to the elljusspår. Me and a friend where out walking when a female moose trotted across our dirt path. Think it was maybe one meter in front of me, was quite awesome to see such animals up close.

    Welcome to Sweden. Glad you chose the northern part. You should probably get some new padels made for canoes (those you have now are for rowing) Also its important to use a lifevest. Good luck with the photos. Summer just started and there should be a lot of animals around. Greetings from Umeå.

    • @matshjalmarsson3008
      @matshjalmarsson3008 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      I second the opinion of the paddles, paddling with oars seems very uncomfortable.
      As for life vests though, due to experience, I know that they can cause more harm than good, there's always a risk of a loose strap or some part of the vest catching onto something making you fall. Not a huge risk in a canoe, more so on a sailing boat, on the other hand, falling off a canoe is quite less likely than doing so on a sailing boat.

    • @Raj-nh3fc
      @Raj-nh3fc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

      Life vest is a must on a canoe or a boat. It is a sensible choice that may one day save your life. Never seen a Swede go out on a boat without a life vest.

      @matshjalmarsson3008 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      @@Raj-nh3fc Perhaps you haven't done much boating?
      Life vests in general are like bike helmets, you put them on children but not on adults albeit some do.
      I have about 50 years of experience of sailing/canoeing, and have experienced some of the problems a life vest can cause, including falling into the water, getting spine or neck injuries when falling into the water, tripping or falling down, not being able to handle a situation quickly enough, getting stuck when climbing up the rig.
      I'm not saying that they're bad, just that they can also cause problems.
      ETA: Life vests, or any protective gear for that matter, can also give a false sense of protection, making you take more risks, I've seen it happen many times

    When I was five years old, my parents, my little sister and I went on a short trip to southern Sweden. Our parents slept in a tiny tent while my sister and I were supposed to sleep in the car. But we couldn't, it was just too uncomfortable, so we took turns waking up our parents to complain. Around 3 a.m. my father had had enough! He was very upset and declared that we were going home to Danmark "right now!". And so we drove through the beautiful landscape in the sunrise, and through the morning fog we saw a moose cow slowly and majestically crossing the road with her calf. And to think we would have missed all this if we hadn't complained!
    Now this was in 1965, and back then there was left side driving in Sweden, but that changed two years later. And I noticed in this video you're seen driving on the left?
    You say you heard your first cuckoo? Our wildlife in Danmark is very similar to British wildlife, I think, and I've heard many cuckoos from my childhood and throughout the rest of the twentieth century. But in later years all birdlife has suffered greatly from the farmers' use of pesticides, so it's been a while since I last heard one.

    • @onewomanarmy6451
      @onewomanarmy6451 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Just came across her video and I think I can sort out the two querys you had about her video.
      The driving thing is just that she is driving on a rather small, slim forest roads. We see two different roads in the video. The first one has a left and a right "lane"(they are wheeltracks on a dirt road but you know what I mean) but we never see her drive on it in the video. The second road has a single "lane" and this is the one we see her actually driving on. That is clear both by how close the forest edge is to her driver side window and by the fact that we see the road in her rear window at one point. I get the confusion though since the road that is very clearly seen for a long period of time is the two "lane" one and that is shown shortly prior to her driving with the forest right next to her driving side window and you have that strong memory that already connect Sweden and left side driving.
      What she probably (99% certain since they are so common here) meant when she said that she just heard her first cuckoo was that it was the first cuckoo she's heard for the year. The cuckoo is a migratory bird that leaves Sweden at the earliest in July and at the latest in September for eastern Africa and they return to Sweden in May. That's why hearing a cuckoo is a sign that it is proper early summer. I don't know if she knows about this but there is an old saying about how the first call that you hear from a cuckoo in the spring is prophetic concerning the rest of the year. It's not so much the cuckoo itself that is important but from what direction/cardinal point you hear the call. The saying in Swedish goes "Södergök är dödergök, Västergök är bästergök, Östergök är tröstegök och Norrgök är sorggök", a local change is instead "Norregök är torregök". It translates to "Southern cuckoo is a death cuckoo, Weastern cuckoo is the best cuckoo, Eastern cuckoo is a comforting cuckoo and Northern cuckoo is a mourning cuckoo", the local change is "Northern cuckoo is a dry cuckoo". It was believed that this rhyme was an indication of what would befall you during the rest of the year, now it's just a fun thing to note.
      I hope this makes sense, take care.

    I've lived in Norrland for about 10 years now and absolutely love it here. I've just started with wildlife photography and it's been a blast so far. What I enjoy so much about it is that you're building this relationship with nature where you start to observe the details and try to be present in every moment. Sometimes you're richly rewarded with astonishing views or contacts with animals that almost invites you to their domain. Some people might think that it's all about taking great pictures, but to me they are just proof of the amazing experience I had when taking them.

    We moved to Sweden from the UK last summer and haven't looked back. We're in a very underpopulated part of Kalmar Län in the south and have similar landscapes. The feeling of peace and tranquility isn't something that I've ever really found in the UK. Our family home was similarly cheap, albeit we're in a village. And I cycle a lot, so see a lot of the wonderful wildlife. On Saturday, I saw a golden eagle ahead of me on one of the forest tracks. It was eating something (that smelled foul as I cycled past it) and proceeded to fly along the track ahead of me, between the trees. It was quite stunning.
    Anyway, welcome to Sweden 😁

    If you live in northern Sweden I'd recommend that you pick blueberries and/ or lingonberries at the end of the summer and early in the autumn. It's an experience which you cannot compare to anything else imo. Stay safe though there are bears in some places, they usually stay away from humans, but it's good to keep an eye out for them.

      It’s really boring so I’d rather answer it here. I applied for a self-employed residency and my partner, Juan joined my application as my partner. We created a business proposal with links to videos and existing businesses. After waiting 12 months and not hearing a response, we went to the migration office and they said we can apply for a case closure. And basically within a month they will have to close our case. And the next week we got a migration officer who contacted us for our current bank statements and then the next week we had a residency cards made 😂 No interview. That’s it.

    It should be noted that these prices are only in the far north (and maybe other remote areas). In the southern half och Sweden and anywhere near or in the larger cities, you'll have to add another zero to the price, and perhaps double it on top of that, depending on where you are.

    • @DaniConnorWild
      @DaniConnorWild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      You can find some rural houses in southern Sweden at that price. I found one last week that was going for $45k.

    • @basonjillett1

      You are correct we bought ours for that price backing onto forest and between 2 lakes under 2 hours from Gothenburg.

    • @demopem
      @demopem 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Well, yes, but that's what I consider to be remote areas. 😉 I just wanted to point out that these prices aren't the norm. There are huge variations depending on location. You wont find anything like that within an hour from Uppsala for instance. But in the west (Värmland), close to Norway, you can find very cheap houses, but that's pretty rural and far off, even if it's in the southern half.

There is a fish which grows to a large size at the heads of such rivers also.
