I don't believe Neil's father had to self-awareness to take responsibility. He believes his children are just clay that he can mold them into what he wants. So from that point of view it's Mr Keating's fault. Side note, I love how the portrayal of Mr. Perry landed Kurtwood Larson Smith The role as Red Foreman in that '70s Show.
