+eight6sevenfive3oh9 And great bone structure--ah, the cheekbones! Also, the grace, charm, and lovely manners--all with the British accent that Americans love.
I love how even the most profound insight Bowie delivers always has the verbal touch and winked wit of a South London car dealer. The eternal London Boy.
Such a smart and wise man. I love the person you were and everything you artistically created. You'll always be a great inspiration for many people. RIP
I love what he said about doing the things that you love and success will follow. I believe in that. However, not many of us are passionate / focus enough to figure out at an early age like he did (at 16) to follow our dream. He was incredibly talented, intelligent, and focus enough to make his dream a reality. I so deeply admire his beautiful mind, and the fact that he was so gorgeous is definitely icing on the cake.
I would live by most of David's 10 rules for success. As an artist he tested them all, and at the end of the day he succeeded. I found this piece very inspiring. Thanks for putting it together. I shall watch it many times till the 10 rules sink in forever.
+Random Order He was amazing indeed. He was a musical genius and a very inspiring person as well. Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching!! :-)
+Harley Pebley Didn't really know we were such an important part of the music! Is that what makes me feel so good when I really listen to it? Must be a buddha thing
@@SoftTangerineDreams I took it to mean that once a piece of art resonates with somebody other than its creator then it is achieving its purpose as art
Doing something artistically valid and following my passion. There's nothing more fulfilling than that, even in the midst of challenges. Loved Bowie - RIP!
In the interview with the yellow shirt i like him the most. His power, his Passion, you can feel it. After all these years and even when he is not here anymore.
I think and I sense David Bowie to be very insightful. He is able to articulate his thinking extremely well, and he is passionate about that, too boot. Thanks for posting. These are good lessons for anyone whom needs a sense of success. I particularly like "Be adventurous", "Learn from Bad experiences" (know a lot about that one), "Do what you like doing " ( sorting that out), "Follow your passion" ( I have multiple and they are going well).
Thank you! All of the tips were inspiring, but the best for me was "The Work Is Never Finished," learning that the audience isn't passive, and that good work can and should grow with contributions from thousands or even millions of people is so inspiring and wonderful.
Thank you for this. I am a woo woo person (something I think David would be ok with lol). I am remaking my life at 53 - sharing my art publicly for the first time. I recently had a dream seemingly out of nowhere of David Bowie leading me and others on a hike over misty, expansive rolling grass hills. He told me to "Just do it" among other things. Since the dream, I have been paying attention to David Bowie vids whenever they pop up. Your effort to make this vid is all a part of the creation matrix. David said the art is never finished - through you his message of wise guidance is navigating me to give birth to my creation, which will in turn move others and so on. Once again, thank you for your part and thank you dear Mr Bowie whereever you are, still breaking barriers and being a shining light for us creatives throughout time.
i really like the 1st clip, and how he described the 1st rule for success. I never really knew much about David Bowie, but listening to this video, i like how he described things; like how he would stay motivated, and how he wanted to inspire others.
Wow...all of the above. I gotta share a story. Working in the media at times in life it always amazed me how those who not known are willing to do anything to get the press. They went out of their way to do flamboyant things...and I thought the same of Bowie. So often there were the stars hating the media...dodging them, putting them down. Yet I'd think "Yes; but your the one's who did the over the top renditions to get where you are. When I began seeing Bowie as someone that is simply fascinating..it wasn't when he did all the things to get attention. To hear him say "I had to do somethings I really didn't believe in" makes me see him as just an incredible human-being. Just like the rest of us...he was and will always be.
Thank you for the Bowie piece. Perfect, wonderful…. no words can ever adequately do justice to Bowie and what he has meant to me, and continues to mean. Each of the 10 rules was right on and everything together would create a satisfying life. I must follow suit…..
I I needed to hear this. I am a guitarist, I have been since I was 13. I shyed away from making music for a while, because of low self-esteem. David Bowie is my favorite idol. That being said , seeing this definitely inspired me to start making music again,
@Tom Bradford What is "someone like Bowie"? A pop musician 🙄? Do you believe them all to be so shallow that they could not possibly be a source of some wisdom/something valid? I am not sure you really know something about Bowie and his music.
Very good rules! I think that David is probably one of a few musicians I really liked that was my age. I still listen to him a lot along with some newer musicians and all my Beatles albumns. I think Bowie really inspired me to see how important it was for people to listen to things they liked, while doing the things they enjoyed, in order to become the people that they should be.
It's hard to isolate a "best" from these ten "arrows" in BOWie's "bow", but perhaps the one that's speaking to me loudest now is "Do What You Like Doing", especially the part where he took the advice he'd been given to STOP DOING WHAT HE DID NOT LIKE DOING despite the pressures all around him at that point to continue on a path of success that was not, in Carlos Castaneda's phrase, a path with a heart,
since the moment I heard him he became kind of a father figure, someone I really payed attention to and I remember everything I've heard him say, I wish I could have met him, but whatever I could have said to him I'm sure someone else already said it for me. rest in peace David
hey, you forgot to mention that he was a visionary businessman! but thanks anyway for this great video of my favorite artist and mentor! no one inspires me more than him!

Bowie, one of my favorite. Not just a great artist, he also was a great man. Young generations should go back to old school music, maybe doing that we won't have the non sense you people we do in our current empty society!!!
By the way, I have to accept that I was very peculiar in my musical tastes, as you can see in my photograph of Brian Eno, I always liked the avant-garde, I am British, and originally I was not interested in Bowie's work. I thought it was good music for teenagers and nothing more. In those years I listened to avant-garde music, jazz fusion bands or the first electronic bands, although when I found out that he worked with Brian Eno I was interested and I liked it a lot his work at that era, over time I simply became an admirer of him as a person, he really seemed like a fantastic person and human being, a shame that he left us so young, now I am 71 years old, older than he was. Finally I will say that my favorite song of his is Space Oddity, I always found something different in that.
No 8 Your work is never finished and be selfish about what you love doing because that will make you happy and be the Ray on sunshine to spread out in the world 🌍 love you so much David Bowie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Success is relative. Is it coincidence that Bowie was out of his mind on cocaine and depressed
when he wrote his most admired work, or that he was sober and depressed when he wrote
his most commercially successful work?
I don't think so. I think that he was a sensitive person who valued artistic integrity.
And no self-help advice will help you develop your artistic personality.
You're either truly driven to create, or your not.
Picking up a pencil because you hope it will lead to a fat paycheck has nothing to do
with being true to your calling.
So success is either measured in fame and money, or by how well you achieved what
you felt the need to do. And to me, any artist who's truly successful, earns fame and money
as a bonus to what really matters.
The best artists are those who put all their earnings into their work.
I mean, what could be better than that? Your commercial success allows you to further
refine what you care about.
People who need help becoming successful are those who're only in it for the money.
If you value the artistic process and can't live without it, you'll find a way to express yourself,
even if there's no one there to help you, or no one to witness your work.
The Maquis de Sade wrote books with his own blood while imprisoned.
And when the guards took away any instrument with which he could cut himself,
as well as all his paper, he continued to write on the cell walls with his own shit.
THAT'S the artistic spirit! And if you're that passionate about art, being successful is rather
irrelevant. And advice even more so.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :) #BTA357 Shine
