Hawk 250 On The Interstate Highway Ride

  • I decided to finally take the Hawk 250 for a rip on the interstate. The speed limit is 70 here and with the hilly terrain the Hawk had a hard time maintaining that speed on uphill grades, but did fine otherwise. My goal when I started this whole project was to be able to go 70mph so I can at least say I achieved my goal. On flat terrain I had no problem maintaining 70mph. The GPS on my camera usually reads a few MPH lower than the Hawk speedometer. I will need to compare it in the future to my Garmin GPS. I think I will continue to stick to the dirt roads and smaller paved roads but if my travels requires a quick blip on the highway, I know I can do without causing too much of a traffic nightmare.

It's at 5,000 miles now and the engine is running great but I've had plenty of other issues. It's rattling itself to death. Everything breaks or falls off but it's a blast and I've abused it on the highway so the bike isn't really to blame.
