Welcome in the Tupac world, it's great to see new people going back and listening to old rap/hip-hop. To me Tupac is the best rapper ever, hope you'll have the chance to learn more of his amazing discography and his crazy life. Please react to his songs "Pain" and "Lil' Homies (OG)". Make sure to listen to the original version for that last one, many Tupac songs have been remixed after his death but I think you'll love the original beat of "Lil' Homies" :)

Hip hop definitely has much more of a competitive nature to it than any other type of genre but this time it was personal for 2pac, he got robbed and then shot 5 times and believed that Biggie knew it would happen

Right. Including 1 shot in the head. Somehow Tupac recovered from all of that rather quickly and was extremely pissed to say the least.

Unfortunately at this time in hip hop there were very much malicious things going on behind the scenes.

The other rappers were his group "The Outlawz". Pac's style was often simplistic...he was straight to the point and wanted to be heard clearly to the masses on any intellectual level. And made sure every word had meaning. Also recognizable in "Dear Mama". Pac and yaki kadafi(his cousin, m*rdered shortly after Tupac) were originally from the east coast as shown in the documentary "Tupac Resurrection". "Ether" is also one of my favorite diss records because it was direct and not subliminal, however of course this pre-dates that. Pac felt Biggie's "Who Shot Ya" was directed at him plus he was surrounded by so much negative energy after being shot and getting out of prison. He even stated he was paranoid. I'm from Louisiana so during that time I was indifferent to the beef but thought it was unnecessary and unfortunate and had gotten out of control..I'm sure someone may have already commented the sample was from Dennis Edward's(members of the legendary Temptations)"Don't look any further", which Biggie and Junior mafia sampled in "Get Money" first. So Pac took his sample to diss him😂

It's a DISS song towards Biggie during the West Coast East Coast beef. That's his half brother in the Outlaws that was participating in the video as well. I think that half brother died as well.
Tupac was an AMAZING LYRICIST and POET.

Tupac had my ear the FIRST time the radio station in L.A. played Dear Momma. I immediately called the station to find out the name of the artist. I'd love to hear a Dear Momma react.
Tupac was a name of an Inca warrior. He was born from a very intelligent mother who was a Black Panther member. She educated Pac on history and social injustices. Born in New York then eventually moved to California. He first started with Shock G but eventually wanted to do his own thing. He started off with with great raps like Dear Momma and Brenda Had A Baby but eventually merged into gangsta rap. He was popular with many different groups of people because of his lyrics. People related to the social injustices and systemic racism in America. Listen to his interviews, many were powerful!
I miss him as I write this. I loved his work at the beginning and even in the middle, I really didn't vibe with his gangsta rap however others did (BUT I LOVE Hit Em Up). He was on the verge of moving away from gangsta rap and separating from Death Row Records when he was ambushed and killed in a drive by in Las Vegas. I thought for sure he was going to make it............Rest in power Pac. The youngsters are still bumping your shyt!

Hey Mr Binge, his crew was called "Outlawz" fashion changes you'll be wearing bagging pants down to your knees again before long, but stopping the video every 60 seconds won't bring viewers to your channel. Watching a DIS Track doesn't require apologizing for its content. BTW, those were look-alike actors certainly NOT Little Kim.

Classic hip hop is almost like a sport...ESPECIALLY in diss records..fueled with raw confidence, ego driven. And Pac was one the best to do it.

Havent listened to pac much, but I do enjoy this one. I really like that 'Grab ya glocks...' atonal bit too, and i'm not sure why it works so well. Kid Cudi does it a lot too. Biggie was another rapper, him and pac were friends, but they (and their crews) had a falling out that led to both their deaths. Crazy. I'm surprised you like this one so much, but i'm glad you did! Is this the one you meant when you said you'd just heard one of your favourite rap songs then?
Please do The blacker the berry soon, this is as close to a guarantee as I have to offer. Pay attention to the lyrics if you do, right up until the end. They're phenomenal. It's also a sonic masterpiece, if you're in any doubt just listen to the first 11 seconds!

The “Grab ya glocks when you see 2Pac. Call the cops when you see 2Pac” is a play on Biggie’s lines “Grab ya d*ck if you love hip hop. Rub your t*tties if you love big poppa.” on the Junior Mafia track called Player’s Anthem.

Yes Tupac is part of the Mount Rushmore of hip-hop Tupac Biggie Eazy-E Dr.Dre and of course to other hip-hop bands Eminem belongs up there I don't disagree with that but I do disagree with people that think That Eminem is the best there ever was I disagree and that's simply because I grew up in the 90s so I grew up listening to a little bit of n.w.a. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony a lot of other artist

I honestly think it's just a tendency people have - Like to say that the most popular artsits of a particular genre are the GOATS. Sure, Eminem is great! But I don't personally find him to be my favorite rapper (yet at least). Same thing goes for the greats in metal - Metallica and Black Sabbath are great. But they are by no means the greatest ;)
