- In this Sound Design tutorial, we'll be diving into the captivating realm of creating generative and atmospheric ambient soundscapes with Arturia Pigments. We'll unveil the art of crafting generative patches that infuse an exciting unpredictability into your music, setting it apart from the ordinary.
I'm excited to show you the creative potential of the Arturia Pigments Sequencer. Together, we'll explore the intricacies of creating evolving atmospheres and harnessing the magic of generative sound design. I'll guide you through essential techniques and demonstrate how to use macro and MIDI controls to truly shape your sonic landscapes.
And here's a little extra option! For those of you who are as passionate about Pigments as I am, I've put together a special sound pack. It features 10 handcrafted presets in the style of the ones showcased in this video. Check them out here: bit.ly/3KyPkWe

Thanks a lot for watching- I hope you feel inspired to build your own generative synth patches ✨

Hello Jannis! I got the preset tonight, and will study them. I just got Pigments, so I am learning a lot about this powerful synthesizer. Thank you for the video =)
@@NexxuSix Thanks a lot for your comment and getting the sounds, wishing you lots of fun with them and Pigments 💚
The tape echo is wonderfully
Thanks 💚
All you have to do now is couple the ambient sounds from the Pigments with “Dawesome Love” and you’ll float away 😉
Maybe I'll try it some day ;)
New subscriber, thanks 🤙🏼
Glad you joined 😊
Thanks for sharing this, it’s just what I was looking for to use in a current video scoring project. I’ve been a fan of Pigments since day one, and it just keeps on getting better. Great job, Jannis, with a really clear and helpful explanation 😊
So good to hear that you could directly apply it- thanks for the warm comment 💚
Thanks, i do generative sound physical installations using VST instruments in Max MSP (cycling74). I used Stochas a lot and some controls of Cc in Chromaphone3 but not in Pigments yet. Your presentation really inspired me to try to make the leap to adapt my patch to those nice ambient possibilities. Thanks again for your work. Martin
Hey Martin, thanks for sharing! I'm really glad you got inspired by the video :) And yes, I think Pigments is amazing for anything generative while also looking inspiring and colorful.
Learned some stuff and I have been using Pigments for Ambient since it came out. One thing on Shimmer- I found that it can help by using the pitch shift for something other than octaves 5ths and 10ths are my fas but fourths can say something too- to me, it avoids "cheesiness" that way.
Thanks for sharing! I agree, fourths can sound pretty interesting!
Very well done, thank you for the efforts of putting this together.
Thank you, really glad you liked it 💚
Your pigments videos are so dope thanks for inspiring top quality tutorial
Thank you 💚 so glad to hear!
Is it possible to do one of these where you fully show the settings? I'm finally learning Pigments 5 with your videos, it is a lot more fun when you have cool output (this one sound great!) but there are typically things left out so it takes a while to recreate, and some things I don't understand at all (what's going on with the macros, what is ENV2 linked to, why is my mix quieter and unable to be as aggressive with filters).
Thanks for your feedback! With pigments it’s sometimes tricky because I get carried away so easily 😅 but I made some other tutorials from scratch, you can check out the playlist on my channel, and will make them from scratch in the future as well!
thank you so much for your video! It's an amazing software. I loved it. :)
Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it 💚
I am having an "issue" when I try to use a Dummy Clip to trigger the Pigments 5 squencer to play, it will only play the first couple of steps, usually 2 or sometimes up to 8, but never the full 16. If I record a clip of me playing the note in instead, then it works, but if I pencil a 1 bar note in, I cant get it consistently play the entire 16 step sequence. Thoughts?
Thanks✌
💚
Hey man good stuff, appreciate your work and time that you put into these videos. It would be great also if you spoke a bit less.. at least for me, I can follow along by simply watching the moves you're making. I think it will render a more relaxing viewing experience.. especially when yoire making ambient pads.
This isn't to say I'm for zero speaking.. just think a little less and simply more action would be useful.
Anyways great stuff and Goodluck to you
Hey, thank you! I’m always thankful for feedback, so your thoughts are well appreciated 💚
Please, go from the ground up next time. I’m unable to follow you going backwards.
I’m new to pigments, so yeah. I can’t follow along at all in reverse
