Currently doing A-Level English Lit, these videos helped me get a 9 in lit and lang at GCSE. Looking back to help a friend out. To anyone revising, good luck! The exams go quickly once you start :)
The questions: What is the question about? What are the assessment objectives? How many marks / how much time? Variation in the question so far? Tips for doing well? Things to avoid?
This has just appeared on my feed and It takes me back to this time last year when I was studying for my GCSE exam... these videos got me from a 5-6 in lit-lang to an 8-8! Anyone studying right now, just keep up the good work! :D
A useful tip is if Language Paper 2 Question 2 tells you to look at differences, but you find 2 things that are the same, you could write about how they are represented differently. Seems obvious, but it's Vital to know for the exam!
@@ThawhidNp Good luck tomorrow, also watch a guy called Mr Everything English his videos are only up to 10 minutes long & his Instagram has model answers too.

IGCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE is the most difficult gcse I ever studied. I thought it was so easy! I really need help preparing for the exam, especially for paper 2.
A lot of students think English is an easy exam that they can just wing with no prep because after all we all speak and read and write English all the time - so what could be hard about it? I am currently helping my nephew who has his exams in May/June this year - good luck with yours.
Is it possible to go from a grade 4 to a 6 at this point? I found out that I need a 6 to do the college course I want to do but I’m only working at a 4. Can I bump my grade up enough or should I pick a different course to do at a-levels? Edit: I did in fact manage it, and I’m now doing a degree in creative writing! Thanks for making these videos.
U gotta grind hard man. I went from 4-4 in november to 5-5( couple marks of grade 6) in february. Then since i wanted to do medicine at uni, i needed at least grade 7 in english so i grinded hard and got 7-8. Its possible but u gotta put in the work. I mainly revised english lit quotes and poem comparisions as i knew the novels and plays thoroughly as we read multiple times and watched a lot. And for language i just remembered how to answer the questions like PEARL ect. You got this
Since Christmas I have gone from a 5-5 to a 7-7, these vids are really useful and if you use them as revision tools you will defo get the grade 6 if not better

(they're here if you need them, in case i forget; if you don't need them, ignore this!) PAPER 2: viewpoints, perspectives, and non-fiction q1 = true or false statements; it's usually the "true" part so it will say "shade in the boxes where the statement is true" this may require a little inference; read between the lines! 4 marks, 4 minutes! q2 = SQI (statement, quotation, inference). 8 marks 10 minutes i think? anyway, arguably the hardest question across both papers; it's a comparison but not comparing, so it's rather a summary of differences or similarities. use synonyms of words from your statement in your inference. NO analysis under any circumstances; don't talk about word classes, techniques, any of that :) q3 = normal language analysis question but without the bullet points. think of it exactly like p1q2! AWHW structure. 12 marks, 15 minutes q4 = full comparison; treat this almost like a literature essay. VEMHW (viewpoint, evidence, method, how, why) this can be structure and language analysis- use the whole of both sources. 16 marks, 20 minutes q5 = using the remainder of your time, write the non-fiction essay. this will be an article this year, so practice article writing. use ethos (trust and credibility), pathos (the emotion you make your audience feel) and logos (facts and statistics- you can make these up) to support your arguments. write formally but light hearted, use a lead (a lead is the first paragraph consisting of a brief summary of who, where, what, how, why, when etc) to start off, then lead into a slightly biased introductory paragraph and follow through with newspapery stuff until the conclusion. it's best to leave the conclusion on a rhetorical question, for example, if the article was on the environment, you could say "wouldn't you want a better future for your children?". use this to guilt your reader. you could also use hypophora (rhetorical question with an answer) e.g. "don't we all want to save the planet? of course" that's pretty much it!
