  • Elysium! An amazing Neill Blomkamp film that some people loved, others didn't, but since Blomkamp's new movie Demonic just came to theatres, it felt like a good excuse to take a look at this one. So here's everything right with Elysium!

I think something that I feel gets overlooked in this film is the fact the ships in Elysium are already stocked with med bays meaning they could of already helped or solved the issues at hand, possibly eluding to Elysium was probably a station designed as a medical institute but probably got monetised when shit hit the fan led to people that had money fleeing to it.

And far more than either Chappie or District 9. Mostly because I hate stories following terrible, unredeemable people. And both of those movies followed TERRIBLE people. You can actually root for and sympathize with the central character of Elysium. Not to mention that the visuals are top notch as is the case with the other films in Blomkamp's central sci-fi movies. This is by far, and without hyperbole, one of the most underrated sci-fi flicks out in the wild.

Amazing review. The casually brutal and personal killing in this movie still sticks with me even though I watched it years ago. Almost scarier to see how little human life is worth rather than how unequal that society is.

I remember seing this movie for the first time. It does not hide away the fact that it's about class war. Elysium makes it slightly more litteral imo by making the station's forces act like a '' realistic'' (for the standard amount of displacement of this movie) military. But if I say that the movie is worse than reality, people will find me some counter examples, and I don' t wish to be depressed by this

  • @HughMannFace

Phenomenal episode, bright and shining example of how you can in fact address the horrible things about reality that need to be changed, the ways you can change them, and the joy and hope that comes with that full cognizance

not capitalism. Spiralling out of control capitalism. Both ends of this spectrum are bad. Sadly humans always need someone in charge, usually quite few people. If they control who gets rich, they ill themselves get rich. And make their friends rich. And we are back at starting line.
And if they only rule but do not control who gets rich, then some indyvidals will peak (mostly due to being socjopaths, its real) and having money they can buy people to gain power.
Literally our only hope is AI overlords. I'm not joking. AI taking over the world can be the biggest blessing for human kind. That's why it will never happen

Don't have a choice of ISP and are paying to much? talk to your local government making it impossible to have any competition in your market. no regulation you have 10 ISPs actually competing for your money.
