When should we AIM for Seva?
Seva is a selfless service - and there is no better time than the present! When we heard about AIM for Seva and their goal to take education to hundreds of underprivileged children across various cities in India, we were immediately onboard! At IndianRaga we believe that education is a fundamental right that should be available to all.
"Madhura Madhura Meenakshi" extols the divinity of Meenakshi, the ruling female deity of the southern Indian city of Madurai. This beautiful song was composed by Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, one of the most profound thinkers and teachers of Vedanta.
Meenakshi, who was regarded as a knowledgeable, wise, and benevolent ruler, represents the power that complete education can bestow upon a girl.
For over 20 years, AIM for Seva has been helping to educate the girls of rural India through a network of Chatralayas (Free Student Hostels) and educational institutions, spread across 15 Indian states.
We need your help to continue our Seva to the less privileged girls of rural India, who will benefit greatly from Vidya Dānam (Gift of Knowledge).

I am from Bihar, Recently, I visited Madhurai and was deeply entrenched by the magnanimity of Meenakshi Temple. I have now set up a dream to establish a temple in my city after Meenakshi Devi. It might take 30 years to 40 years for me. But I will start. Hope my children would benefit from it

Kannada prince Kumara Kampana,son of Vijaynagar emperor Bukkarayappa saved Madurai Meenakshi temple from complete destruction by Sultan army
The Kannada prince came all over from Hampi capital of vijaynagar to Madurai 900 kms away. The Kannada army defeated the Madurai sultan army Kumara Kampana ( Kampana means to shiver -enemies used to shiver on seeing and hearing the Kannada prince) killed the sultan with his own hands
Madurai and entire Tamil Nadu came under Vijaynagar rule All temples were rebuilt in vijaynagar style called raya Gopura style
All the dramatic events are recorded in Madurai Vijayam book written in Sanskrit by the young princess Gangambike wife BV of prince Kumara Kampana
Ibn Batuta Arab traveller has also recorded all the events including the torture meted out to Brahmins by the sultan The Arab traveler praises kumar Kampana for his brave acts

This is how I would imagine thousands of years of human excellence condensed into 8 min would look like.
This brought tears to my eyes. I was present at the first Kumbhabhishekam of the Dakshinamurti temple at Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, performed by Swami Dayananda Saraswati. The highlight of the celebrations was a recital by the late great Maharajapuram Santhanam, who presented the first ever unveiling of Swamiji's extraordinary compositions. Swamiji sat hugely enjoying Shri Santhanam's interpretation, particularly of the piece "Bho Shambho," occasionally turning to the person seated next to him, chuckling with indulgent delight, or raising an appreciative hand to the stage from time to time. Such a privilege to witness and a healing memory for keeps.

Though I have not practiced any form f art, I had been trying to define art for quite some time.
My negligible understanding improves little with my experiences like these & when I hear or watch other greats like Yamini Krishnamurthy, Aruna Sairam, Ranjani Gayatri, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi etc.
For now I believe,
Art begins with a great intention,
Takes the form of a great sankalpa,
And reaches our senses through a blessed presentation from yogis like yourselves.
Its always a joy to see such depth in Indian performing arts.
The expression on your face, the control/ the rhythm/ the composure/ the fluidity of the voice & performance, cannot be expressed in human words.

Excellent lyrics composed by the saint, excellent musical composition ,rendition and choreography. One should note the saint using the word ' bhageshri' while the raga is generally pronounced as 'bageshri' in both hindustani and carnatic music 9with the solitary exception of Thamizh song 'karpagavalli nin', in which the word 'bageswari' is used. Muthuswami Dikshithar invariably mentioned the raga name in his songs, with his excellent command over Sanskrit. When he used Aabheri raga, the word did not have a meaning so he used the word 'veeNaabheri', combining the words 'veena' and 'bheri' both musical instruments, with grammatical employment of s'savarNa diirgha sandhi'. Similar expression of the raga name by the saint composing this song.
