  • Why AIM for Seva?
At IndianRaga we believe that education is a fundamental right that should be available to all. AIM for Seva is an organisation that is taking education to hundreds of underprivileged children across various cities in India.
"Bhāvaye Paramātmānam", meaning "manifestation of the divine", are the first two words of a composition by Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, one of the most profound thinkers and teachers of Vedanta. These words extol the spirit of Pujya Swamiji’s teachings - "All that is here is Ishvara".
This music video was shot in Manjakkudi (a small village in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu) - the birthplace of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
From a tiny sleepy village, Manjakkudi has today bloomed into an educational hub that provides a platform for education and empowerment for over 5,000 first-generation learners, who come from 300 neighbouring villages.
AIM for Seva has been working to educate the children of rural India through our network of 104 Chatralayas, 6 schools, and 1 college, spread across 16 Indian states, for over 20 years.
We need your help to continue our Seva to the less privileged children of rural India.
Support AIM for Seva generously: www.aimforseva.in/donations
This video is part of a series of music videos created exclusively for AIM for Seva by IndianRaga.

I must have listened to this song about 15 times since this morning...still running repeatedly! What a performance and set to Aarabhi makes it all the more lively! This is a true example of "Hosa chiguru hale beru" (Kannada saying - by Dr. DVG) -meaning "New sprout from Old roots". The young musicians while maintaining the Manodharma have made it appealing to the present generation. The video presentation of a simple, innocent rural life blends so well with the music! Wonderful!

Also all carnatic trinity is 2 telugu one kannada who are all from Tamil nadu,80% compositions are in telugu and next sanskrit Tamil
So you need to understand karnataka is state carnatic is geographical region

@@Infiniteemptiness : Carnatic music's old name was Dakshinadi Sangeetham.. Purandara Dasar, who is known as the "father (Pitamaha) of Carnatic music", formulated the system that is commonly used for the teaching.. Later flourished in Vijayanagara, while the Vijayanagar Empire reached its greatest extent.. It would be a great sin if we confine Puranadasar Dasar to Karnataka only.. Carnatic music is not only for Karanataka or South India, Its for the whole Universe.... Just enjoy the music and compositions ..

The meditation students had paintings on their bodies, those paintings reminded me of africa and of Shiva's body covered in ashes. It is probably a multicultural reference of india, like the chai, that in the version that reached me in Brasil in one of the more popular coffee shops of São Paulo had milk in it. I don't know if indians drink milk because cows are traditionally taken to be sacred in India, at least that is what I heard. Possibly they drink the milk but don't eat the meat of cows and bulls. They washed the cows tit at the beginning of the video, so probably if they drink milk in india, but they don't torture or mistreat animals. Following their culture probably the chai of Brasil shouldn't have milk in it, at least most varieties of milk most people have access to in Brasil.
I heard water has a very deep meaning in India, and ethymologically Saraswati's name is linked to water and rivers. Interconnected rivers and water. It would be even more poetic if the river of this video was the ganges, as it is the most well known river in india and I heard it is taken to be the modern successor of the Saraswati river, but maybe the reference of the river in the video can get even better than that because some rivers in india have a very complex network of meanings tied to them, so whatever they chose should have a very significant participation in this artistic performance. I'm relying on other people to help me with information and knowlege I don't have access to or to help me overcome the limitations of my body's resistance to studying or my limitations of time and money.
Wikipedia says Saraswati is taken as, among other thing a goddess of knowledge. They said knowledge in english. I don't know how they say it in indian or in sanscrit. Knowing has a deeper meaning in english. Related to saber in portuguese and sabor, which are respectivelly knowing and taste when retranslated into english from portuguese. Taste is a recurrent methaphor used by a german philosopher called kant. A philosopher of knowledge and the a priori conditions of knowing. I don't know how those things go in german language, but they must be important if they keep appearing in philosophical discussions everywere.
Another side note is that the portuguese colonizers that came to Brasil initially meant to go to India looking for seasonings, and called the aboriginal ethnies of here indians. The brittish colonisers imitated them in the USA and the canadians preserved a name for the aboriginal ethinies of their country, probably through the influence of the french. What portuguese colonisers did afterwards to the people of our country is far bellow the poetic inspiration that drove whatever portuguese navegators whose tradition was followed by Pedro Alvares Cabral, the capitan of the crew that discovered Brasil with small ships named after the christian religious tradition. But I digress.
This artistic performance, I'd say concert for the quality of it if I didn't want to avoid referencing and crediting europeans too much for whatever happened in this indian raga livestream. Stream is a word that ethimollogicaly is linked to water and rivers, so it is fitting. The woman dancer at the beginning of the video was in front of an architecturally much more refined building than the musicians' ones, and she is not even that young or thin so there comes a nice twist to this logic. She was a great dancer and a flawless performer, but she was not white or painted in white like some Sraswati's representatives were. I couldn't tell what was being said at the video, but if the intention was to represent saraswati her body could at least be painted. The architecture of the house the dancer appears in front of seems to be more closelly linked to traditional indian architecture and art, while other buildings seemed to be built with less money or explicit or presential colaboration with architects or studied artists. Maybe the dancer in whatever story was being represented had to marry a rich guy.
I kinda understand the rich guys, if I was rich, marrying a great dancer would be one of my top priorities, but in indian culture the figure of the shákti and female power is closely linked to marriage and the cooperation at least, with a man, which I find one of the most troubling influences of indian culture I had contact with. Indians developed tantra too, probably in part because of their focus on marriage, which complicates things. And feminists who posit themselves as so enlightened in relation to the primitive indians are, in most of the cases, not tantric at all. Not even close. My spontaneus inclination is to have feminists learn from indian culture, but maybe indians can learn a little too, the proportion according to my predjudices would be something like 75% to 25%, as in the feminists learning 75% and the indians learning 25% as compensation for their charitable efforts. I can't tell if the dancer's clothes were traditionally used for different contexts, so I'm also relying on others to "enlighten me".
I put enlighten under quotation marks because of the overuse of this methapor in texts I've read. Be it in european philosophy with the enlightment, be it at chinese martial arts, that were influenced strongly by India's spiritual tradition, particularly in the brahmaist vertent of it. A curious side not on that is that the sound om was very influential in chinese meditation and even in Indian meditation, credit probably goes to Saraswati or of whatever historical figures were linked to her in the development of indian chinese and world culture regarding meditation. It would be nice to know why indian martial arts are not as well known in Brasil as asian martial arts, I guess it is probably due to indian colonization and wars that happened there. The portuguese version of the Saraswati wikipedia article hints at a war that could have extinguished Saraswati original river. It says the fault falls on the arians. Poets and artists should study that together with historians. It makes strong poetic sense even though historically I can't tell how accurate it actually is. The portuguese version of the Saraswati wikipedia article also says her skin was white as milk, which is also a very interesting poetic reference, and could be taken to relate to common ancestors, more than with war. English wikipedia talks about indo-aryan languages. India has a very strong tradition of spiritual development, so I feel much safer wishing for them to study martial arts than for wishing that for other cultures. Their war god is a dancer after all, I really love India. But I digress.
According to my predjudice female dancers were more financially valued in india than musicians. India has a dancer as a main god, Shiva and one of the representations of his wife, Kali, is a dancer too, and this is something I know no parallel of in any other culture or country of the world, and this is one of the main reasons I initially got interested in India. The figure of the Shákti depicted in this indian Raga song is not Kali or Parvati, but Saraswati. One of her names is sharada, which sounds just like the word in portuguese for riddle or enigma. Sounds are important for this Shákti acccording to what I could read until now, there is a possible poetic link between the waters that unite and sounds that unite and music, it is quite interesting that all that is condensed in the representation of Saraswati, be it her representation in texts, paintings, songs or others.
By the way, the influence of brahmanism in asia and its relations to european imperialism should be studied further by historians and philosophers and whoever else is interested in the subject. Another important side note is not to read traditional indian refereces like Saraswati as individuals, a cannonic key for reading that tradition came to me with the name of trimurdi, the three main gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, to be read together and to consider their legacy as a group. Another word is used for the Shákti, Tridevi, refering to Saraswati Lakshimi and Parvati. Those references can be further refined by reference to more than 100 names of shákti, including Kali. The male gods can be further specified too, as can the chakras, normally only though of with reference to the 7 more famous ones.
I had a great time, pleasurable time, enjoying this performance and consulting wikipedia and other songs of the youtube channel buddha's lounge to compose this text. I use compose here to mark my debt to music and art in this text in particular. It would be even better if somebody were to answer it and help me write furter and better, but I feel less lonely now because of the people of wikipedia and of the artists and intelectuals of indian raga, don't know if "artists and intelectuals" is an exaustive denomination for the people of indian raga or the people from wikipedia, but I'm quite grateful to them.
This video of indian raga is enigmatically linked to a charitable event. I can more easily understand it as an effort of transmission. Transmission is a word I like a lot and it is linked to the ethymology of Saraswati, with stream and water that unites all. Transmission is not that directly linked to charity, but either to transmiting and sharing your spirit, in the hegelian sense, or to honing cultivating and perfecting it. I use mostly a philosophical reference when talking about spirit now in part because of a very influential philosopher in my formation called Slavoj Zizek, he dedicated his life in clumsly writing introductions. He is a fun guy and his enthusiasm helped me find other intelectuals and artists brighter than him. He himself introduced many of such people in his talks or writings. That is a biographical note too. I'm not a very religious person as of now. Who knows how I'll be after I find my Shákti.

@@gazibizi9504 Done. Please take note I was greatly enthusiastic by the artistic performance and by learning about such aspects of indian culture for the first time, so please bear with the imprecisions or clumsyness of my text for this time. I'll edit new comments separating them in paragraphs. TH-cam doesn't allow for much editing of texts and I'm often not very optimist about people commenting on my texts and helping me develop them further, so please bear with me for a while. I's be happy if you read me again in the future and tell me what you felt about what you read.
