Jon! You have a gift, Sir! Your vids make me want to go out and immediately buy just about anything you endorse, not having even realized I wanted or needed these. You’re like the favorite brother-in-law that every man needs!
I understand this urge. I was perfectly happy with my Streamlight Micro until I came across his Royvon A8 video. Completely unsatisfied with my Streamlight and now I must buy the Royvon (using his affiliate link of course).
The P30i is a masterpiece, generating a peak of 2000 lumens from a relatively small package. I recall my Olight SR-90 in the year 2011. I bought it from an UK retailer and paid an hair less than £400; it was a monster ten times heavier than the P30i, with a battery pack made of 6 x 18650 cells, and emitted 2200 lumens at turn-on. The P30i is the miniaturised version of my old workhorse, which I only used for show-off at the time, it was too big and heavy for day to day use. The P30i is very, very usable for outdoor night recognition. The P30i is on my list of wanted lights, so one day or another I will get it. Thanks for the comparative review. Greetings, Anthony
I have the P30i and swapped out the standard tailcap for the Nitecore NTC2i U-Shaped Tail Cap. It allows for strobe with the paddle switch and light level changing. For charging, I either use an external Nitecore Charger or replace the original tailcap. 👍🔦👍
I'm blind but if the lights keep on this pace, Doc says when they get to the point they mimic Gamma rays my vision will go up and I should be able to see for a short while. Of course these guys and their progeny will have burnt the eyeballs from everyone else!
I like them both. Fenix being more expensive is out of my reach but maybe they will get cheaper. I like the precision on Nitecore. Thanks for a great review.👍
I wish you'd review Ledlenser MT18, or whatever newer version of that they have now. The big reason I give up on Nitecore and Fenix etc. and went with this German brand is the engineering and innovation-it is much better in that the runtimes are much better, I think that's on account of the superior lenses that the Ledlenser uses; if the light is not reflected off a reflector, you have less loss of brightness. My MT18 is rated to run 5 hours on 3000 lumens, a seldom seen spec at that price! When you need flashlights on farms for overnight work, or where there are prolonged power outages, run times become critical. I also really appreciate the dual food or throw feature their flashlights come with. The lens is why Ledlenser's ML6 is so good: much more glare-free on account of the prism technology, and doesn't blind you even at 750 lumens! Very impressive!
Thanks for the suggestion - I'll def check it out - I have a very old Ledlenser from way back - I need to try and find it - focussing with a lens rather than a reflector
I cannot, for the life of me, fathom the purpose of a battery with both poles at both ends it seems to have absolutely no pros but very obvious cons. This would be an absolute show-stopper for me. That said, it's an excellent review of two products which stand absolutely no chance whatsoever of finding their way into my collection.
It was required because the designers wanted to put the USB-C charging at the end cap together with the button, so that the remote can be attached at the end providing a very usable and sleek design when mounted on a gun. Well, I am sure it is possible to make a more advanced design to allow for a standard 21700 cell to be used. But they went this way. You don't see that many other flashlights with the USB-C charging port at the end cap do you either I guess?
Nice video. I can really recommend the LR50R but if youre looking for something p30i sized I'd rather get something like an acebeam L19 or L18. The throw of the nitecore isn't all that impressive for the reflector size and price. Acebeam K30gt could also be an amazing compromise between the two in terms of size and lumens/throw.
@@JonGadget no problem, keep coming out with that flashlight stuff I can't get enough of those haha. Acebeam in general is a great company, most of their lights don't feature stuff like internal charging and you dont see them in stores or anything like that but they make one of the best lights out there.
Beautiful review Jon. Nice beam shots. I always convert the beam distance from meters to feet, instead of 1000 meters beam distance, 1000 ft That’s the way our eyes see the light. Nitecore and Fenix have been very reliable, I have some going on ten years and they haven’t skipped a beat. One thing, the lanyard is in case the light slips from your grasp. If you were to swing either of these lights around, and struck yourself in the family jewels, that would be the end of the exercise! 🤬😮💨😢
When we have Solid State Batteries and cooler-performing LEDs it will be a game changer. Reflectors and TIR optics. My Acebeam L19 V2 and L19 PM1 will give the Nitercore P30i a run for its money and performance with a way smaler useful size because my L19 fits in my trouser pocket with its holster attached due to its TIR optic making it way smaller (head size) and (Package).... (please! no sexual innuendos) however, I did enjoy your superb review...👍👍👍
I'm curious how manufacturers rate their flashlights to put the range claim on the box, say "300m" or "600m" or indeed "1000m"? Also, after having watched many flashlight reviews, no-one has come close to demonstrating the range the torch boasts. In fact, yours is the best so far at 200m!
Very comprehensible review. Beacon mode is great while walking along a road where cars drive by fast. I just walk with the beacon mode on and point the flashlight to the ground as I am walking. That way I am highly visible, and cars slow down and/or will make a lot more way than usual when passing by. Usually I bright a smaller flashlight for this task though.😎 I own the P30i, I bought it since I had the previous P30 new model, and I agree with all your points on it. My fav pocket thrower that's always with me nowadays is the Manker U22 III W1 Osram emitter. Super compact thanks to advanced TIR optics, it's a dwarf in size compared to the P30i but better throw at 300000 cd. Better performance, smaller size. 🤩 And oddly enough also better while walking as well because the TIR optics does not have a sharp cut-off as the P30i traditional reflector has. It spreads a kind of moonlight level of light evenly around in front of your feet outside the main beam while blasting away the main beam at the far target, so you also see where you put your feet. The P30i sits mostly at home as a very nice shelf queen here. 🥳
Hey Jon, great video! Have you seen the Nitecore TM39? It's a closer design to the LR50R with the larger battery but with a 1,500M range using a single LED.
I have the P30i, it's a pure spot light, not good for area lighting. I use my Nitecore T4K for that. Although, I have many other lights in both categories.
Do you have a recommendation for a multitool with a fixed integrated prybar? Something similar to the Gerber Prybrid that's easy to carry? Thanks, love your videos.
These Chinese flashlights are tech marvels, and product design knockouts. They do the job (illuminating way above the overpriced maglite of the past) and they look the part (like Darth Vader’s light saber). What is the lens technology that amplifies the luminance of the bulbs I wonder? They must’ve pulled that from the automotive industry or something. I like it when intelligent people put their minds into “productive” activities (instead of destructive ones). ☮️

You have one of the best platforms on TH-cam when it comes to flashlights 👍🏆🏆🏆
Detailed, through and honest.
Most Excellent, again!

Thanks for that - I was trying something new there over and above general outdoor demo

finally, just got the p30i

Same.
Wow awesome video as usual.
Would love to to see the Fenix compared to the Nitecore TM28. Both having 4 leds
I Really like your videos.
Can you also start doing videos about backpacks?
In my opinion its the most important edc item.
Thanks for the feedback, yes - I have one coming up 👍

I daily my T4K. I'm getting ready to purchase both the P30i and P20ix as well. I've loved my T4K, but I like the thought of a removable battery.
I love the new battery NL2150HPi. Please revie Nitecore Intelligent Battery System MPB21 KIT: 3-in-1 Light, Charger & Powerbank to see why.
Hello! Do you know how you can factory reset or reboot Fenix LR50R?
Hi Jon can you do a video on 5000 Lumens headlamps which is best
What about superfire brand ? I got many of them and I am very satisfied please, make a video please with top 10 superfire led flashlights ....
Curious how long that beacon mode will last. Surprised the data sheet just says “--“

Is the p30i better than the ace beam l19
ok i'm not embarrassed to admit it .. i have flashlight / torch envy .. lol
always understandable
Can they send fenix light to me in dubai??
No strobe is weird. No lockout is bad.
What a massive flashlights. I bet you can cook an eggs with those 😉
I was waiting for the water to start boiling in the underwater shots!!!
yes!
😎😎😎
I think that is a challenge coin...
Man is different model positioning in different money category. The best of Nitecore to same like to fenix is mucht better
You compare apple to a Orange of course it's not the same. LR50R is $300, p30i is $150.
Check out the Imalent MS18 you probably like it.
P30i spotlight and lr50r fluid 😕
for rifle mounted, nitecore wins
