I think Henry was very boring not the actor did not suit Mary at all Charles Blake was suited to Mary after saving the pigs they got a lot closer bring him back for her
I love downtown abbey I wish they would bring the series back I miss it do you keep making the films but after a while they will make to many prefare every week over the winter months
@@olly-kaithey haven’t ruled out the possibility that the Gilded Age will eventually tie into Downton Abbey. It is set in New York around the time when Cora would be nearing her “debut” into society and just a few years before she married Robert. The first season was set in 1884, which would have been 7 years before Mary was born.
Violet Crawley was my favorite character!!! I honestly enjoyed binge watching all 6 seasons and the movies thanks to her witty humor. I didn't want the show to continue because I knew her death would be inevitable, but I am so addicted to watching the life of this family, I am so happy they're giving us more. Maggie Smith is one superbly talented Dame.
I agree Maggie Smith was also my favorite character. I really don’t want the divorce I like Henry and I thought he was good for her. I wanted someone like her first husband a man who held his own. I don’t know if I will enjoy it as much without Violet.
I want more! First a prequel about Violet and her many adventures (and lovers?) then one about the romance of Cora and Robert and how her money saved Downton.
I'd love to see Robert & Cora's early courtship and/or Violet and her early years. She had an exciting past that we were barely privy to. Also, more story line for Tom Branson. Please don't let Lady Mary & Talbot get a divorce. Let them work out their marriage be renewed. Mary is a fighter and I think she would fight for her marriage. I hope there is a 3rd movie. I think it would be a hit, especially with the amazing talent of Julian Fellow's at the helm.
Interest had waned and he was disappointed, but it was still very popular. The issue though is fans want more than a fluff movie which is all he is giving us. That makes it his fault fans are losing interest.
@@peachygal4153 How has interest waned?.So many people had gone to see the new film and more had bought it as a dvd.And people are watching the series on Netflix and other streaming sites.I didn't like the the first film much, but the second was much better
Well if Henry Talbot is on the way out, they should bring back one of her old flames such as Charles Blake or Evelyn Napier. That would be fun and make the most sense.
Me and my daughter vote for Evelyn! The actor , Brendan Patricks, that plays his part is so damn kind and sweet on Instagram! He always answers our questions and comments! He even said to my daughter that he would make a video for her 14th birthday which theme will be "English Tea with Violet on Downton Abbey".
As a constant rewind everything Downton Abbey I'm always wanting MORE!!! The divorce line sounds good to me. Just whatever to get another movie out or better still a new season of the TV series !!!!! Please oh please! It would make the whole money making and fame of everything involved more legendary than ever !!
Oh you mean, like this: Lady Mary wakes up with a start relieved to discover that she's still married to a very much alive Matthew and the story about Matthew's death in an accident was just a scary nightmare. That might work...
More Downton please!! the producers could carry on with the children growing up and everything that happens in their lives. Can't imagine TV viewing with Downton on the horizon! I've watched all the series and the moves three times now. Its just wonderful.
I’ve been reading many suggestions that Julian should make another spin off of Robert and Cora’s lovestory from the Gilded Era. When Downton almost bankrupt then Cora saving it. I think this spin off deserves to be considered. I’ve read some people who’s against of the idea, but to see young Rob and young Cora’s life pre marriage then early months of their marriage would be amazing. Cora did mention that Rob fell in love with her a year after their marriage (or maybe less than a year, claimed Robert). I guess I prefer that than the Crawleys constantly fighting the notion of constant change or adjusting to the modern world. Dont get me wrong, i think it’s nice, but I want something different now.
@@judylittle5285 Julian and his team did an outstanding job of casting the perfect actor to play the part, and every single one of them exceeded expectations. I’m sure they can do it again-cast the perfect actors to play the young characters.
That would go be good for a miniseries, a prequel. I just do not think it could last long. Once they are raising small children it would not be as interest. Let it follow through until he realizes he has fallen in love with her and end it there. I do think though to add more to it we could see Violet flashbacks. So, 2 parallel running stories similar to how This Is Us was done. Have 2 actresses portray Violet at different ages, one as the middle-aged Violet the mother-in-law and flashbacks of a much younger Violet with the Russian prince and the French guy. I think Nicola Walker would make a great middle-aged Violet. Emma Corrin maybe for the younger Violet.
I believe the 2nd movie wrapped everything up very nicely. Except, of course Marry's marriage. I don't believe you can have any more without Maggie Smith. She was the soul of Downton.
We NEED MORE !!!!!!! Focus more on all the kitchen staff as well. My wife and I have the disc collection and we have been watching them over and over. Love this masterpiece 💜
I would like to see Tom Branson more prominent in the next sequel. He marries at the beginning of A New Era, and then he and new wife and baby are shown at the end, but neither had a really prominent part in the movie. And the French Villa was to his daughter Sybie’s. Do something with that storyline!
I like the idea of a fast forward in time. Downton Abbey in the WW2 era? Having city relatives/ random people stay there because they are afraid of German bombing. Perhaps one of Mary's children could fall in love with a newcomer? How would she react? However, I like the idea of a prequel too. No to the idea of a divorce!
Why couldn't they do both prequels in alternating segments in the same movie? Start with Lord Grantham and Cora's meeting and courtship, on up to when he introduces Cora to Lady Violet. Cora is terrified of her, but Lord Grantham says "To understand Mama, you have to know more about her past, who she's always been in her life...", and then the flashbacks begin, starting with her love affair with the Russian Count, following the dramatic account Violet has already told Mrs. Crawley in the series, about how she was trying to run away with him, but was caught by his wife mid-flight. Then more of Lord Grantham and Cora, then another flashback showing young Violet's meeting the guy in France who left her the villa, etc.
WWII is packed full of drama. Children and young people are going to be heavily impacted, the number of pilots lost was insane, sending kids north, the Blitz, it was also a war of spies which really hasn't been explored. German planes landed in the countryside all over the UK, sometimes with horrific to heroic outcomes (didn't Hess (#3 nazi) fly in and become imprisoned in a large home?) Plus the Vichy French/Germans controlling their new home. LOTS of opportunities!!
I think a divorce would be interesting because divorce in their class would have been very scandalous, but since DA is going into the 1930’s, divorce was becoming less unthinkable.
Divorce was less scandalous amongst the aristocracy then for middle and working class people, until the mid-19th century divorce could only be granted by a private Act of Parliament, that certainly wasn’t an option for most people.
Isn't that real life? Never the same, but life goes on and most people still manage to have happy life after losing a parent, grandparent or even a partner. Besides, many said that after Sybil and Matthew's death, but the series was still good though "not the same," as you said. The reality is Maggie Smith is 88 years old. She has more than earned the right to retire and enjoy what time she has left. Downtown Abbey Fans and Whoopie Goldberg BOTH need to stop laying guilt trips on that poor woman.
The actor who played Henry was unable to film due to other obligations. According to the storyline, Henry was abroad. Oh, and it isn’t a hobby, he owns a business along side Tom.
I can see why the Brits liked this show. I ended up binge watching it. Was sad to see that Maggie Smith won't be in it anymore. She's the best. Always loved the Brit shows and anything with history of the English Royalty.
She should never have married Henry. She should have married Charles Blake, the man who slopped the pigs with her. They had super chemistry and I just didn't feel it with Henry, much as I love Matthew Goode. He's an amaz8ing actor but I didn't like him in that role.
Yes I wanted her with him I did not like the other guy who was around the same time as him. I did not like him that much I do not even remember what his name was.
I agree. Charles had it all - looks, brains, money. I was so disappointed when Mary chose Tony over him, and I had hoped when she passed on Tony she would give Charles a chance. And really, what did Mary and Henry have in common? smh
L'ho sempre pensato anch'io, tra tutti solo Charles Blake aveva le caratteristiche per stare al fianco di Lady Mary. Henry è stata una conclusione troppo frettolosa!
But apparently their marriage wasn’t a passionate one, at least according to Violet. But I would like to see how Robert married Cora for her money but then fell madly in love with her by their first anniversary.
I believe something is in the works that features Violet's life as a young woman. I'd also love to see the youngest generation growing up and how they handle the shifting sands. Little George and certainly Marigold have to be nearing their teen years... the Great Depression (which had global ramifications) isn't far off. And I'd love to know how George feels about his stepdad racing off when its a car that killed his father on the day he was born. I'm also totally here for some Gilded Age drama with Cora and Robert and their courtship.
Sybbie in real life is 12 or 13. Back in 2015 she was 5 in real life although her character was 4. Little Marigold was supposed to be almost 3 when Edith married Bertie and that done almost 8 years ago. I am guessing the twins who portrayed Marigold are around 10.
To tell you the truth, I never wanted Lady Mary to marry Henry to begin with. I was appalled when everyone pushed Henry on to Mary. It was like they were trying to convince her that she was in love with him when she really wasn't. I didn't like the Talbot character at all. He was too needy and begging. He asked Mary to marry him right after his best friend is killed in the car crash. This is like being on the rebound. Then when his heart heals he really doesn't need Mary anymore so he travels all over car racing leaving Mary on her own. He never seemed right for Mary compared to her many other suitors. I never felt the love between them like there was between Mary and Matthew. It always seems so phony to me and never liked the two of them together. I hope they will do something about that in movie 3. Get rid of the actor since he's too busy and doesn't want to be in Downton Abbey anymore anyway and find someone more suitable for Lady Mary. I also think a pre sequel movie starting out with the young Lady Violet showing her suitors and all the things that happened to her when she was young that she revealed in Downton Abbey's series and movies.
I would love to see a third movie. As for Henry Talbot, why? I love Henry--handsome, charming, charismatic; I can't take my eyes off of him when he's on the screen. They should do a third movie, and the actor who plays Henry Talbot should return. Matthew Goode, don't sabotage your career. Don't go all "Regé-Jean Page" on us. 😄
Except for Matthew Goode is a big-name actor who makes much more money than an ensemble movie can offer him. Why would he turn down a starring movie role and a lot of money to make time to do DA? The same goes for Lily James. The real Lady Catherine of Highclere Castle divorced her husband din the 1930's and had remarried by WWII. Since this happened in real life It could work. Now if Matthew Goode is willing to do the DA movie of cousre we want him back but if not, a good story could still be written.
@@peachygal4153 I think it's more to do with the contracts actors have that bind them into struct timelines resulting in performers not being permitted to take time off to do other films and projects at the same time. Some companies are very stringent and can renaig on fees etc. Arguably Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery are as big if not bigger names than Matthew Goode and Lily James, and Downton Abbey itself as a story has even more popularity.
I never cared for Henry Talbot and there was really no spark between Mary and that aristocrat she spent the night in the hotel with... can't even recall his charter name. I liked Evelyn Napier though and he's been there since the beginning. Wasn't he getting married to someone else though? Can't recall. If the actor portraying Henry doesn't want to continue, I say, "Let him go!" and get someone else so that Mary doesn't become a bitter old lady. In any event, please continue with the movies #3, #4, #5, #6 and so on. I'd love to see the children grow into their adulthoods and continue the story. I couldn't get enough of it when it was a TV program and love it as a movie. I just think the movies are too short! LoL! Thank you Julian Fellowes for your wonderful work!
If there is another Downtown Abbey film, the story should jump ahead to the period before or during World War II to explore the lives of children grown up.
I always thought it should end just like so many of these houses did in real life - the family having to give them up (sold or taken over by the National Trust) because they could no longer afford them.
I was thinking the same thing. They’ve practically set up Mary to take over Violet’s role. They could jump 10 years or so and Mary could have been divorced a long time. Maybe she’ll take a lover. But her fortitude could see them through the war years. Branson can help her manage taking in people escaping the blitz or even European refugees. They could do different rationing storylines, get deeper into various famous English families ties to Fascism or anti-semitism. Rose could come to stay while Atticus went to war. Sibby could marry. It would be great.
I feel like they’ve set up Mary and Tom to be smart enough and forward thinking enough to help Downton Abbey stay in the family and survive lean years. I’ve been watching some series about great houses of Britain and also the TH-camr American viscountess. I think it’s really interesting to see what today’s aristocrats have done to maintain their inherited houses and land holdings and to bring their activities into the modern age
The third film uncouples from the previous plot lines and takes place in modern times, with the current generation of the family uncovering a mystery from Robert's and Cora's time -- a murder? an illegitimate child? something scandalous involving the royals? maybe something Violet kept secret. It's really important that this mystery is solved to secure the future of Downton, and it's big, whatever it is. Lots of opportunities for flashbacks and the return of many characters as the modern family tries to solve the mystery. And they must hurry, to save Downton! Things get intense and then take a supernatural turn, as the GHOST of Carson appears and helps the characters solve the mystery! Carson does a little comparative analysis of how Downton has changed over the years, but the main thing is that Downton will be saved and we get to see all our beloved characters from the past once more!
I always liked the gentleman who Mary helped to save the pigs, in one of the episodes of the series. His character was Sir Charles Blake played by Julian Ovenden. I was so sorry that that relationship didn’t progress.
I would Love to see another movie, perhaps 3 hours long to wrap up some lose story lines. Downtown Abbey is the main character along with the beautiful music. I think picking up just on the eve of WWII, would be great. I would like to see the children more involved, and Tom & Lucy, Molesley & Baxter, Daisy & Andy, Anna & Bates, the Carson’s, Isabel Crowley, I think Having Thomas Barrow coming back and Mary finally Marring Tony Gillingham. How that happens is left up to Julian. They key to a successful Film is sorta like the last episode, pull most of the storyline’s together I would Love to see Cora & Robert having a wonderful life, no one needs to die, keep it focused on A new Era, Ms. Patmore Running her B&B, I would Love to see Denker have a role, she would add the spice that the Dowager would have brought but in a different way. Of course Lady Roseamund has to have a role, along with Edith & Bertie. Instead of new characters, focus on the main Character’s & Downtown Abbey. Of course the main event is the looming WWII. Possibly leaving the door open for another movie with WWII, & post War at Downtown. I would Love to see a spin off of Downtown on Master Piece, I have no idea who, except Daisy & Andy. Daisy could open a bake shop & Andy Farming, that way the Abbey would not have to be used, I can think of many storylines. Downton will & still has a huge following, it’s a wonderful Jewel.
The main event is the Great Depression- if they continue then it is likely the Crawley’s would lose much of their wealth. Although, as Mary and Tom have been managing things on the farm, they would probably not lose everything.
After the first film, I sent a story suggestion to Julian Fellows that The King should acknowledge Tom by granting him a title. I thought Viscount Branson sounded nice but Baronet Branson would be okay too. Then I wanted the Crawley girls mixed up in the Abdication somehow. This would not be the first time Mary and Robert were involved with the Royals.
I think Mary’s story line should be more in the lines of the death of her husband since she did not want to divorce. I would like to see her love interest to be Charles Blake. I agree with the comments, prequels would be nice to see. The courtship with Cora and a prequel about Violet’s caracter. One think for sure… we want more !!!!!!!
Please give us another film. I love Downton Abbey so much. Never cared too much for Henry though so it does not matter too much how he is done in - divorce might be the best bet though. Would love to see film using technique like the one used in Godfather II movie - flashbacks giving us the meeting and courtship of Robert and Cora. Also wish we could see more of Rose with same actress. She was delightful. She has that wonderful Jewish husband and the time span is leading us up to WW II. Show something in sequel about how this affects their lives either in sequel or a separate movie or series just about this topic.
I always thought the character of Henry Talbot was rather shallow and useless. I never thought he and Mary had any chemistry at all. It wasn’t believable at all that Mary would even like someone like Henry. She should have married Charles Blake. He had it all: looks, a title, money, wit - what’s not to like? Unfortunately, Julian Ovenden had other commitments and wasn’t available for Season 6.
Comment by Carmencita: How about having some other actor play his part? It would not be the first time this is done, and it will work if they choose the right one.
If Talbot was in a horrific accident that disfigured his face (i.e. Cousin Patrick), he came home and was nursed back to health by Mary which rekindles their love, then when the bandages are removed, voila, a new actor to play the character.
Yes, I'll miss Violet, but I would love a 3rd film. Hoping It's definitely not a musical! Normally, I'm very much a fan of musical, but please wouldn't want to see our Downton cast singing their sweet little heads off or possibly not the expected Glee performance🤣
If there is gonna be a third film, I want them to do a decent-sized time jump. Though I love the cast, I want more of the next generation. I'd love to see the kids being aged up and given more of a storyline.
I think the kids would be boring, especially because they'd have to move into dreary 1930s and 40s. Much more interesting--pre-quels going back with the characters!
@@carolinaalbuquerque2784 that’s what my mother and i (i am female, 50+ years old) were talking about as we left the theater after the first movie (neither of us saw the most recent movie, she didn’t want to be bothered, i didn’t want to go by myself and didn’t know anyone who wanted to see the movie). “Would the next movie take place when George is ‘of age’ for WWII? Would it show him arguing with his mother about ‘dad fought in wwi, and grandpa a war before that!,” and his grandfather, “you fought in a war, talk with mother.’” And would Sybbie and Caroline go to war as nurses? Would they meet with Marigold along the way?
@@jacquelinelynch4713 I think the 30s and 40s are fascinating, maybe it's dreary to you. Read Aline, Countess of Romanones' books if you think those times were dreary.
Henry Talbot was never a good fit for snobbish Mary with a phobia for cars since her first husband's death. Out of all her suitors, he was the least suitable - no wealth, no title, nothing but a glorified car jockey then salesman. Downton already raised one such in the form of Tom Branson from mere chauffeur to riches and social climbing through 2 marriages so it was déja vu. There was zero spark between the actors playing the Talbots. Ms Dockery must have known that Henry's character as written was a poor match putting Mary so far below her sister and rival Edith as to make Mary look pathetic.
why did she marry that guy. They have very little in common and apparently the actor is not available for films. the viscount Charles was perfect for Marry and they had so much chemistry. I just don't get why they made her marry him.
I was interested in watching Downton after I found out Julian Fellowes wrote the script. Some in this comment section have not watched “Aristocrats” from 1999, neither “The Manor of the Glen” in which he had extensive parts and I thought he acted very well. My thoughts would be 1) why did the writers introduce Henry Talbot in the first place, and 2) why did the actor accept the role since he had some prior commitments?
Well his career has gotten a lot bigger. The end of season 5 (the first time we saw Henry) was in 2015. Then season 6 aired January through March of 2016. How could he possibly project out five or six years to 2022 thinking he would still be needed to work on a project when everyone thought season 6 was the end?
@@bevdiaz2531 An actor would not a role for some 5 - 6 episodes and stories about actors who quit because their roles were minimal were rampant (not Dan Stevens and Jessica Brown…others, such as Samantha Bond as well as a couple more - can’t think of the name).
@@marinazagrai1623 I don’t understand your reply. An actor would not … what a role. If you mean take a role then you aren’t quite correct about that. Maybe some actors wouldn’t take a role for only a few episodes, but there are plenty of times when someone is considered a “guest star” for a couple episode story arc. Plus, when Matthew Goode (the actor in question) took the role, the cast already knew it was the final season. There would have been no way he expected it to continue. I would also add that everyone expects to enjoy their work. This is a job and the actors are not beholden to people to continue doing a part just because we want them to. I do wish Dan Stevens would have stayed. I loved his character. I didn’t really care much about Jessica Findlay Brown. But neither just up and quit one day. They gave their notice, fulfilled their contractual obligations, and moved on to other work. Both were receiving other offers that interested them. Who are we to say what they can and can’t do with their careers? Nobody ever complains about Siobhan Finneran (O’Brian) leaving or Zoe Boyle (Lavinia) or Charles Edwards (Michael Greyson). All of them went to pursue other opportunities. That’s a normal actor thing to do.
@@jd-no7rw I did enjoy that series but the storyline of Lexi and Archie going to New Zealand was a bit lame in my books. And I think that Catriona and Archie should have gotten married. I'm sorry that Duncan didn't figure in the storylines more. And oh man, Golly was a stone-cold fox...
Why don't they just re-cast the character? As long as he's tall, dark and handsome (as the character calls for) there is no reason to not replace him with some one else who will do the role just as well or better, than the original actor! Easy fix!
I think a 3rd movie would be wonderful & a success. Maggie Smith would be greatly missed but there is still Daisy's wedding to come & Tom Branson's future to explore. Mary's marriage will have to be resolved one way or another. Lots of plots to consider. I truly do hope a 3rd movie is to come!
I’ve watch Downton for ages and I’ve bought all the DVDs I really like Bates and Anna they really played a loving couple.I could watch it over and over love the story lines bring it back on t.v. Please
Bring Tom and his wife into the new Film get him a honoured or something and also see more into lady Edith's life. Can Daisey have children to that would be nice just make it fun and happy! We need cheering up please!!!
Henry needs to return home and to Mary and his daughter. Give him some room for a story that in the end he stays put and takes over the business he and Tom Branson started. Make him the mogul that has made a living selling luxury cars and now has money in his own right. He can with pride support his own family and not live off of Mary's money and estate. He can build his own empire with much success.
por que deberian divorciarse? ellos se aman, a pesar de que henry siempre viaja por negocios, mary demostro que ama a su esposo y el a ella y sus hijos
Prequel sounds good. Also, what about the children? Are they old enough for romance? How is Daisy getting on? Romance with the young man (also a Downton servant) doing handy work?
I would love another! anyway I can get it! yes, flashbacks to cora and robert as young newlyweds, etc stories about his sister and her husband too. Visiting the South of France doing reunions with growing families.
1. New film should fast forward to WWII - as Mary's son, Bates' son etc. will all be of fighting age - and there will be many similarities with WWI and fear of losing the heir. 2. It would be so interesting to see how much more life changes for England with WWII and the aristocratic way of life - I would prefer a more serious tone with some laughter, but not the silly premises of the two movies. 2. You could get Maggie's character back through letters, or other flashback moments with the Dowager - perhaps where she reveals more of her true feelings about her husband, etc.
I think it would be possible to have Talbot just disappear never to be found or have an accident and have amnesia and not know Mary anymore and bring in a half brother of Matthew's (Sam Heughan) that he never knew existed and neither did his mom. Matthew's father had a child with another women so you could introduce her as a new character as well. They don't have to marry but they can be lovers. Ad some passion to the movie again.
This is a long one, read if you dare, storylines a plenty! First off : Matthew still has half of the interests of the business he has with Branson. So will that business fold or will Branson continue it on his own? He is now just as wealthy as the Grantham's and he has to be sure to keep enough money coming in to maintain the villa in the south of France Violet leagued to little Sybil. ---- Now The movie stops just before the Crash of 1929, it would be interesting to know how everyone will fair through that. The roof has just been repaired and Downton runs a profit, Branson and Talbot's second hand car and repair shop might do really well. Either Bertie or Lord Grantham could lose everything they have (maybe pushing one to suicide, most probably Bertie) but I would love to see them sail through that. Since most of the money is now run by Mary she might not have invested that highly in the stocks and has always tried to invest in the Downton estate to be able to support itself and it is situated in an area which was not that greatly affected by the great depression in Britain, Downton would sail through it, so would the Hexham estate. So probably Cora's brother loses all of his fortune and kills himself, having the family head over to the USA to assist Cora's mother in the funeral arrangements and trying to find a way to keep her in het ways but maybe far less grand. another option is that he saw it coming and made the wise decision to limit his risks in the stock market and followed the likes of Getty, Hughes and the Kennedy's making a even bigger fortune whilst his mothers trust fund would be near annihilated, still making some of the family take the SS Île de France to go assist. Cora, Lord Grantham will go and Mary and Mr. Talbot too. Making a potential divorce possible as Mr. Talbot would prefer to stay in the USA due to the possibilities there but Mary having to accept she is responsible for Downton and her son's legacy (There could be scenes in the Chrysler building). It also gives a possibility for Mary to rekindle her love interest with her charming director from "A new era" and bumping into Barrow who's short lived fling with his actor didn't last due to drinking and violence and ends up taking care of Cora's mother as a Butler/Valet and even Rose and Atticus (who will probably commit suicide after losing everything as he works in a bank with Rose returning to the UK) . Edith is pregnant again and Branson is also looking forward to a new child and the sales of Edith's magazine goes through the roof thanks to the great depression making her wealthier than before. She might even try to get on the Graff Zeppelin around the world flight losing the honor of it to Hay Drummond-Hay (who actually did fly her) but getting another deal out of the loss with Hearst offering to buy her publication but Edith refusing as she thinks he is to bullish but in a way he gracefully accepts and that allows her magazine to flourish. 1929/1930 are two exceptional years on the world stage, giving lots of possibilities of storylines, new loss and great fortune making for the Grantham's and their extended families. There could even be a scene where they meet Wallis Simpson as she was in England since 1928. The Nazi party gets to the foreground in Germany, which make Edith remember what Mr. Hitler did to Marigold's father and which could lead to a bitter fight between Mary and the rest of the family because Mary takes the stand for Hitler and the rest of the family doesn't with Branson understanding part of it but refusing to adhere to it as he thinks all humans are equal. The fact that Atticus is a Jew could play nicely here too. and don't get me started about downstairs. Mrs. Patmore will have to retire and with Daisy being a new mother it will be impossible for her to take over the kitchen, maybe enter Alfred again as the new cook or Butler? Lady Crawley's ladies maid is now well off too with Molesley's scripts being very in demand and having an opportunity to move to California which leave Cora looking for a new maid. Anna and John might lose a lot of money as Bates invested in stock but looking at it positively that it can only go up even though he has to put his dreams of dependency for his wife and kids on hold for a while longer. The staff will automatically be further reduced as it becomes harder to find staff for domestic service, which also gets more and more expensive but as long as a large family lives in the house it is acceptable to have a larger staff of say Butler, Housekeeper, 2 ladies maids as long as Cora and Mary are there, 2 live in maids, 1 cook but only one footmen and some hired professional help on grander occasions. The Crawleys being one of those rare families that respect their staff and tries to keep them and try to stay ahead of their times with innovations in agriculture. Julian Fellowes has written a masterpiece all along the seasons and set up things, voluntary or not, to allow for new plots years in the future. He knows his history! I mean Rose got married in 1924 to Atticus, Edith's boyfriend got killed in 1923, Mary with her extreme conservative views give a great feud with Mary hopefully seeing that it is wrong or maybe she just goes ahead with her views behind everyone's backs. this could also end up with a break between her and Anna. Also Lord Strallan could die and leave everything to Edith, with her turning the money over to Downton with the extra cash needed to modernise their agricultural on condition that both Sybil and Peter also get to profit making the Downton estate larger and potentially opening the door that they create a trust so they have to pay less taxes etc... So many possibilities are any of these good?
I agree his name is Charles Blake actor Julian ovenden great actor and singer to.look home up on you tube Julian ovenden you will.heat him sing he is magical
Don't forget to look him up on you tube he is a fantastic singer Julian ovenden you have a lovely day or night he as just finished a musical on tour South Pacific brilliant from start to finish I saw it in Manchester in July I love this guy and follow him on Instagram take care janette
I don't think Henry and Mary will, or should, divorce. They come from similar backgrounds, but Henry's not as posh as he had no title. He also had a career as a racer so in that respect he never quite fit in, but the family is very accommodating of outsiders coming into the family. They also have a daughter together, and if nothing else, I believe they will continue to be married to carry the Crawley torch. The impression I got is that maybe Mary feels like the responsibilities of being mistress of the manor challenging when she has a husband that has his own separate career. I hope there's another movie, it would be great if they could make one during the early days of WWII. But to get the entire cast back together would require quite a bit of luck. I guess we'll see!
I am one of the few who don't think Mary and Henry should divorce. It's not the 1990s. Mary was also more serious than people really understood. She was looking for a life partner, not a fling. Her conversation with her father about Henry shows this. She didn't want to be stuck with someone she didn't like, for life. I think only something truly heinous would make them part ways. Otherwise they would simply do as they are currently doing. Carrying on separate lives, until a reconciliation might be possible. As pointed out, they have a child, and she does too. It wasn't considered normal to just up and divorce. Since the actor does want to leave, his character should be given a graceful out instead of creating a false and anachronistic ending.
So exciting!!!! Your thoughts?
I think Henry was very boring not the actor did not suit Mary at all Charles Blake was suited to Mary after saving the pigs they got a lot closer bring him back for her
Thankyou for the heart 💓
I love downtown abbey I wish they would bring the series back I miss it do you keep making the films but after a while they will make to many prefare every week over the winter months
And something to look forward to like Julian ovenden I am a devoted fan of him since the royal and foyle war terrific actor and singer
And A very sincere guy met him twice got is autograph twice lovely gentlemen
They should do a pre-quel; the courtship of Cora and The Earl of Grantham.
A prequel is a great idea!
@@hollyhumbyrd3362 Dame Maggie Smith would be too old to play Violet Crawley let‘s say in 1890.
It's actually been discussed...
what an awesome idea! I'd love to see an earlier time period of the Crawley family.
Maggie Smith is one superbly talented Dame.
they should do one about her youth...they hint at it in the last movie. A fiesty young Violet would be good
I agree Maggie Smith was also my favorite character. I really don’t want the divorce I like Henry and I thought he was good for her. I wanted someone like her first husband a man who held his own. I don’t know if I will enjoy it as much without Violet.

Please come back Downton Abby. It is a breath of fresh air from some bad TV.
I want more! First a prequel about Violet and her many adventures (and lovers?) then one about the romance of Cora and Robert and how her money saved Downton.
A prequel without Maggie Smith playing her young self would be ridiculous. Nobody can fill her shoes.
@@judylittle5285 *how* is an 87 year old woman going to play “her younger self”????
I'd love to see Robert & Cora's early courtship and/or Violet and her early years. She had an exciting past that we were barely privy to. Also, more story line for Tom Branson. Please don't let Lady Mary & Talbot get a divorce. Let them work out their marriage be renewed. Mary is a fighter and I think she would fight for her marriage. I hope there is a 3rd movie. I think it would be a hit, especially with the amazing talent of Julian Fellow's at the helm.
Let there be a divorce!
I also would like to see a prequel.of Tom kn Ireland.I.dont like.Henry.Divorce.
Julian Fellows has said several times,as long as fans still love the films,he will carry on making them!
Interest had waned and he was disappointed, but it was still very popular. The issue though is fans want more than a fluff movie which is all he is giving us. That makes it his fault fans are losing interest.
I pray, beg, hope he does!
Not the guy around the same time as Charles Blake I did not like him I do not even remember his name because I disliked him that much.
@@nicoleackerman205 Tony Gillingham? Yeah he can stay away
I vote for Charles Blake.
Def Blake. He was perfect for her.
As a constant rewind everything Downton Abbey I'm always wanting MORE!!! The divorce line sounds good to me. Just whatever to get another movie out or better still a new season of the TV series !!!!! Please oh please! It would make the whole money making and fame of everything involved more legendary than ever !!
I want an alternative reality where Mary and Matthew are living happily ever after! 😂😍
That would never work.
Oh you mean, like this: Lady Mary wakes up with a start relieved to discover that she's still married to a very much alive Matthew and the story about Matthew's death in an accident was just a scary nightmare. That might work...
Also Tom, Sybil and Sybie.
OF COURSE WE WANT DOWNTON ABBEY TO CONTINUE VIA ANY MEANS AVAILABLE!!!!!!
I would love this especially
No, let's not go back in time, with completely different actors.
And we can't forget the servants a young Carson as a hall boy and Mrs. Padmore
They should do a Lady Violet life story. Downtown Abby prequel.
I would loooooove that.
That’s what “The Gilded Age” was supposed to be
We NEED MORE !!!!!!! Focus more on all the kitchen staff as well. My wife and I have the disc collection and we have been watching them over and over. Love this masterpiece 💜
I'll settle for anything as long as no one gets pernicious anemia or arrested.
LOL!! Agreed. That & the statement, ‘But am I worthy?’ And I’ll miss Maggie Smith but not Denker.
I would like to see Tom Branson more prominent in the next sequel. He marries at the beginning of A New Era, and then he and new wife and baby are shown at the end, but neither had a really prominent part in the movie. And the French Villa was to his daughter Sybie’s. Do something with that storyline!
I wonder how Sybie is going to afford keeping her inheritance.
Not a fan of 1940s dreariness. Nor divorce. Do like the prequel idea--there's a whole lot that can be done there!!
And we've already gone through a divorce with Rose's parents, but of course, Mary's divorce would be very different.
Less unthinkable but still rare and frowned upon at that time. More likely Mary will lose another husband to a car accident.
Divorce was less scandalous amongst the aristocracy then for middle and working class people, until the mid-19th century divorce could only be granted by a private Act of Parliament, that certainly wasn’t an option for most people.
I think with death of Maggie Smith’s character it’s never going to be the same. She was the glue that held it together.
I don't want Mary to divorce. She was adamant she didn't want that. I like the prequel idea about Cora and Robert.
Can't they just get another actor to play Mary's husband It'd Be horrible for Mary to have more tragedy in her life she seems so happy xxx
The actor who played Henry was unable to film due to other obligations.
According to the storyline, Henry was abroad. Oh, and it isn’t a hobby, he owns a business along side Tom.
I think a third film would really be pushing things. If they do one, it should be a pre-quill with a young Violet.
prequel
I thought Charles Blake was more perfect for her also.
@@TallyDrake they had nothing in common. They really blew it with that one. I even liked the director in the movie with her better than Henry.
I think we should do Violet as a young woman and meet her husband
But apparently their marriage wasn’t a passionate one, at least according to Violet. But I would like to see how Robert married Cora for her money but then fell madly in love with her by their first anniversary.
I'd like a sequel, but Henry Talbot needs to be there. Not killed off, please. He's gorgeous and a great actor. So don't throw him out!
Yes, there is a lot of , sibbie and marigold presented at cort, evt
Ohh I’ll love a Downton set in the 30s and early WW2
FYI I am absolutely signed up for Downton Abbey 3 4567 whatever. My favorite show of my life I pretty much know every thing by heart I'm a fan.
Bring back the Honorable Evelyn Napier!!!
I love downtown I’ve bought some dvds please bring it back to our tv screens loved Maggie smith a legend actress 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
i hope it's not a divorce. i loved watching him fight for her. He's just as strong as she is.
That would skip over the 1930s though, which was a very important era in the UK.
Anything Downton Abbey, but make sure Julian keeps all the original actors & actresses.
This series is ripe for numerous films bringing them up in time! It would be great to see the family change.
More please. I still watch the TV series a few times a year. Loved the sequels.
Marry her off to Charles Blake or to Evelyn Napier. Mary should go to visit Henry on the road and find him cheating.
no DA without Maggie Smith...she makes it worthwhile
Henry and Mary was a bad match-up to start with - never thought their characters blended well.
I would rather see the courtship of Violet and her husband the Earl.
Mi dispiacerebbe e molto se non ci fosse Matthew Goode nel terzo film. È un attore bravissimo, straordinario!!!
They key to a successful Film is sorta like the last episode, pull most of the storyline’s together
I would Love to see Cora & Robert having a wonderful life, no one needs to die, keep it focused on A new Era, Ms. I would Love to see a spin off of Downtown on Master Piece, I have no idea who, except
Daisy & Andy.
I think Mary has been through enough and Henry should come back. 😊
Can they bring back Cora’s mother from America?
I think Mary’s story line should be more in the lines of the death of her husband since she did not want to divorce. I would like to see her love interest to be Charles Blake. I agree with the comments, prequels would be nice to see. The courtship with Cora and a prequel about Violet’s caracter. One think for sure… we want more !!!!!!!
Sure do want more! Moseley too don't leave him out!!!
Keep Henry on. I love his and Mary’s relationship. They fought so hard to be together.
I need more. I’m still binge watching all seasons and movie. Let Mary’s husband go, and bring that cute director back.
Back in that day in time, that would have been a REALLY BIG SCANDAL!
Good one. Sort of like that weird one episode “Patrick” story during season 2.
Great Idea!! 🤗
Yes, I'll miss Violet, but I would love a 3rd film. Hoping It's definitely not a musical! Normally, I'm very much a fan of musical, but please wouldn't want to see our Downton cast singing their sweet little heads off or possibly not the expected Glee performance🤣
A pre-quel about Violet would be fantastic!
The Edith character could play a young Violet... Violet's youthful picture looks soo much like her!! 😍
If there is gonna be a third film, I want them to do a decent-sized time jump. Though I love the cast, I want more of the next generation. I'd love to see the kids being aged up and given more of a storyline.
I don´t know about that, because if the kids are young adults we will fall right into WWII...not sure I want to see that in Downton Abbey.
Would it show him arguing with his mother about ‘dad fought in wwi, and grandpa a war before that!,” and his grandfather, “you fought in a war, talk with mother.’”
And would Sybbie and Caroline go to war as nurses? Would they meet with Marigold along the way?
Yes! I want to see Downton during the Second World War.
I think they rushed the Mary and Henry
storyline because the show was ending
and JF always had to have Mary in a relationship.
Make as many sequels/prequels as possible, please!
why did she marry that guy. They have very little in common and apparently the actor is not available for films. the viscount Charles was perfect for Marry and they had so much chemistry. I just don't get why they made her marry him.
I'd live to see a film about the Dowagers life esp the time when she almost got swept away by the russian prince!!!
I hope it moves to a third chapter. I miss the characters. Such a wonderful story.
Ho pensato anche io al ritorno di Michael Gregson, erano una coppia bellissima lui e Edith
I think you mean Monarch of the Glen, and yes, he did quite well as Lord Kilwillie.
There was some others that would like to have another DA show where the kids were adults and had to deal with WW2.
No divorce of Mary and Henry!! Bring in Granny Maggie Smith somehow !!!

Why can't you get another actor to play Mary's husband? It beats her divorcing him or killing him off.
Bring Tom and his wife into the new Film get him a honoured or something and also see more into lady Edith's life.
Can Daisey have children to that would be nice just make it fun and happy! We need cheering up please!!!
Think they should do the next generation, See how the now adult grandchildren deal with WWII .
Trip to America for the uncles wedding, grandmother's funeral visit to Rose an Atacus ect.
She should have ended up with Charles Blake.
Yes please 🙏!!
maggie was like i’ll do one more film if you finally kill violet ffs
It was a poignant end and Maggie Smith knows she’s not going to be around for ever
Yes. Yes we need another Downton¡!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love a fiilm about lady Violet when she was young.
Brilliant idea
I think it would be possible to have Talbot just disappear never to be found or have an accident and have amnesia and not know Mary anymore and bring in a half brother of Matthew's (Sam Heughan) that he never knew existed and neither did his mom. Matthew's father had a child with another women so you could introduce her as a new character as well. They don't have to marry but they can be lovers. Ad some passion to the movie again.
Die hard fans will always want more and more. Do it!
@MovieAddicts Is there really going to be a 3rd Downton Abbey movie??? I really hope so, because I really would like one.
Thats what we have heard ❤
Bring back the pig man please

If Hugh Bonneville doesn't come back it will not be very good.
She should have married Charles Blake
