About:
Downton Abbey is a British historical drama television series set in the early 20th century, created and co-written by Julian Fellowes. The series first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2010, and in the United States on PBS, which supported production of the series as part of its Masterpiece Classic anthology, on 9 January 2011.
The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey between 1912 and 1926, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era-the great events of the time having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy. Events depicted throughout the series include news of the sinking of the Titanic in the first series; the outbreak of the First World War, the Spanish influenza pandemic, and the Marconi scandal in the second series; the Irish War of Independence leading to the formation of the Irish Free State in the third series; the Teapot Dome scandal in the fourth series; the British general election of 1923 and the Beer Hall Putsch in the fifth series. The sixth and final series introduces the rise of the working class during the interwar period and hints at the eventual decline of the British aristocracy.
Downton Abbey has received acclaim from television critics and won numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie. It was recognised by Guinness World Records as the most critically acclaimed English-language television series of 2011. It earned the most nominations of any international television series in the history of the Primetime Emmy Awards, with twenty-seven in total (after the first two series).[citation needed] It was the most watched television series on both ITV and PBS, and subsequently became the most successful British costume drama series since the 1981 television serial of Brideshead Revisited.
On 26 March 2015, Carnival Films and ITV announced that the sixth series would be the last. It aired on ITV between 20 September 2015 and 8 November 2015. The final episode, serving as the annual Christmas special, was broadcast on 25 December 2015. A film adaptation, serving as a continuation of the series, was confirmed on 13 July 2018 and subsequently released in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2019, and in the United States on 20 September 2019. asmr

I watch Downton Abbey every night for about an hour, from the series all the way through the movie!
I go to sleep with DA every nite
Keep the new generations alive! More Downtown Abby please!
We need as much Downton Abbey as possible.
Yes an episode for every day in the week, a double one for the weekend.
Can’t wait for the next episode of Downton Abbey. It’s totally different from the trash that’s in the movies today.
All in! Loved the series, the movies! Ready for the next adventure!
Let's hope Julian Fellowes keeps writing great stories!
Bertie was relieved of the tour obligations by Cora asking the queen for Bertie to be excused. “Bertie asked the king, I asked the queen.”
I would like to see more of the children in the future. I would also like a prequel, violet and the Earl , a young Robert and Cora with 3 young daughters
Greetings from Canada thanks for sharing this video update about downton abbey
Thank you :)
Magnifique série, superbement bien interprété, j'adore, hâte de revoir les protagonistes 🇨🇵💗🌼❣️
OF COURSE I would watch films led by the next generation! I would love to see how the family weathers the "Great Depression", the spread of fascism. & WWII. I would like to see the children become movers & shakers as society evolves & progresses.
Love this series. Hope it continues.❤️❤️👍
Correction: Lady Cora Grantham was responsible for Bertie staying for his and Edith's baby (Peter) not Mary... Cora talked to the Queen
Looking forward to new movie luv this show so much
It was Queen Mary, not Lady Mary who enabled Bertie to stay home for Edith's pregnancy.
And had he gone, Bertie would have been accompanying the Prince of Wales not the King. The errors are numerous in this video like many others by Movie Addicts. Fact checking is unheard of.
Yes for sure the children would grow up and have interesting lives.
Yes can’t wait
Would love a new film “The New Generation”
Keep downton going
I am a big fan of Downton Abbey. I appreciate your wonderful update. Could you run me by on who is Maude, Lucy's mom. I love crocheting things to wear from the Downton Abbey era.
I think Maude is Robert's cousin. Remember in the first movie Lady Violet got on her case for wanting to leave her money to Lucy instead of to Robert. Lady Violet had no idea at that time that Lucy was not just Maude's maid, but also her daughter; which made Lucy her rightful heir.
Thank you in clearing my confusion up for me! Now that you explained it to me, it hit a recall memory for me! Have a great day!@@jacquelineroque5707
@@JJW77 your welcome. Glad to be helpful to another fan😊😊😊😊
In real life she is the wife of the man who play mr.Carson
I love to see the New granation 😍😍
I think a sequel in the present day featuring George's descendents would be awesome.
First of all, we were never told the sex of Tom and Lucy's baby. All babies were dressed in dresses at that point of time. Even boy toddlers were dressed in dresses I have photos of my father in dresses in the early 1920's. complete with frilly bonnet. Second, Tom and lucy's child is NOT a Crawley grandchild since Tom is not a Crawley AND Sybil was long dead and not the baby mama. If Lucy's mother is Robert's second Cousin which is what Violet said in the first movie, (Maude's dad was Violet's first cousin) Lucy would have been Sybil's 3rd cousin. So, Lucy's baby is Robert's second cousin twice removed, NOT his grandchild.
They are considered family. I had tons of close family friends that were like relatives to us.
Tom has two girls sibby and violet😊
Violet's cousin Maude wouldn't be a Crawley.
@@suziel6588
How do we know about the 2d girl's name?
@@jaynekranc8607…But these people were all about BLOODLINES back then, not close family friends.
Well I will miss the current Downton characters but It might be good with the grandchildren if they are interesting characters and it is well written.
I think if they held off a few years and just do a reboot a series around the time George V dies and covers Edward VII abdication then lead into WWII (1939) they could go on for several seasons. The girl that played Sibbie is now 14. all the original kids are growing up and obviously older than their character ages in the 2nd movie. The series ended in New year's 1926 (which on TV in Egland was late 2015, in USA early 2016) and the 2nd movie was summer 1928 but filmed summer 2021 so 5 years had passed since the series ended so of course the kids got too old looking for their supposed ages. Not that it matters, if they did an 8-year time jump from this last movie they could just use new actors for the kids. By 1936 Sibbie, George, and Marigold would all be in their teens. Sibbie would be 18. George 15, and Marigold 13 or 14. In real life Michele Dockery is 41 soon to be 42, and Laura Carmichael is 37, They could play women in their mid 40's in another 3 or 4 years. Heck, Michele would be her mid 40's by then.
Typo, Sibbie would be 16 in 1936.
Sybil died POST giving birth.
Keep on DOWNTON.
So are we getting another movie coming out..if so l'll be definitely watching! Excellent movie! 😊
Downton Abbey 3 is due out in September 2025!!! 🥰
I would love to see another sequel but please dont change the vibe
Yes please
Tom and Lady Sybil’s child could not have inherited, since the entail confines the Downton title to heirs in the male line.
She inherited the estate of her grandmother.
Preeclampsia can still be deadly!!
Violet is not a Crawley grandchild.
Yes more with future generations.
I would watch if they brought Thomas back.
Spero davvero che si farà un seguito. Sarebbe bello
More please
Nothing really to connect to the series or the previous films. But good and attractive young actors with a great storyline and dialog to take us into the prewar era and Violate could appear as a ghost to her great grandchildren.
No let her rest in peace as one of her own earlier lines requested
The actor who played Henry had other filming commitments 👎
Bertie able to stay for Edith regards Queen Mary, wife of George V1, not Lady Mary.
No no no I can’t let go of lady mary
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No interests in the grandchildren.
The whole point of the show was to secure a new Crawley heir. A male heir. 😮
How is Violet a grandchild of Cora and Robert
Her father happened to be married to their late daughter Sybil at one time but that does not make her their granchild
I guess Tom is now considered family. And Lucy, Tom's second wife is a member of the Crawley family.
I stopped watching when I saw so many people die unsensably!
In my book, children are seen but not heard.
No, in fact we DON'T have to respect the wrong, unprofessional and selfish decision of the actress who forced the killing off of Sybil.
Nor should we!
Nor should we respect the equally wrong decision of the actor who played Matthew.
It's just a job to them, just a small part of their lives.
@@jaynekranc8607 That is not how the acting profession works! At all!
When you commit to a long-term project, you are reliable for it "to its natural end". You don't quit for ANY reason other than serious health risks or death.
But they fulfilled their contracts. The contracts did not say they were tied to the show indefinitely. The actress who played Sybil specifically requested a three year contract.@@DUCKDUCKGOISMUCHBETTER
Not true. From all reports her contract was limited from the get-go.@@DUCKDUCKGOISMUCHBETTER
Jessica apparently said from day one that she would only commit to three seasons. As did Dan Steven’s.
No. I love the original crawley’s. The children won’t make it for me.
Would have preferred hearing about the children without having to sit thru a rehatch of the enture Downton plot.
NO
