    Thanks for the tip. Ford wanted to charge me $250.00 dollars for the work. HA! I did the repair myself and it only cost me $16.00 dollars and one beer. 😁

      I don't know man, I think invite the neighbor over and make it a 2 beer job. 🙂 (you really don't have to invite, they always come to watch something like this)

    awesome.....gotta admit it took me about 12 minutes but that includes the trip to my shop to grab my snips and just cut the cable out of the slot instead of fighting to extract it from the busted handle....it's going to the trash anyway.....SUCCESS !!! Thanks brother !

    Thank you. Just finished my passenger door handle. However, I cheated when removing the cable clip. Since I was replacing the part, I grabbed a pair of pliers and snapped the plastic away to free it! Thanks again!

    I was glad to come across your video. My driver's side handle did the same thing! Does your wife know you took one of her steak knives for working on your truck?

    Do yourself a favor-remove the plug in the door panel that goes around the lock pull. Much easier to drop the panel back on without fighting the lock trying to get it in to the hole with the plug in.

    Hey Bob, I was able to replace my unit WITHOUT removing the door panel in 5 minutes.I was very careful when tightening the long 8mm bolt an did not loose the captive nut, otherwise I would have had to remove the door panel.

      Tried to replace it without getting the panel off. Quicker. Broke off the the old broken handle assembly and replaced with a new one. But your way is more delicate. To each their own. Your video helped in getting it done. More power.

    Very nice sir. 👍 I did use a small pair of plyers vs. 🥩 knife. To extract the cable. But we’ll done ✅ job complete easily

    I prefer to use needle nose pliers to releases the cable and a curled pick to pop parts out. Steak knives are for fine dining, And the pick or knife will bite you if not careful.

    Lose the steak knife use a pair of needle-nose to get the cable off of the handle and use a trim tool to pop the trim plates off.

    Did anyones door handle break like this and then their car alarm would go off sometimes?

    • @robertdoiron1379
      @robertdoiron1379  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Trevor. I haven't heard of any problems with alarms going off. Sorry.

      Who knows if you have resolved this but I wonder if that is connected to one of the issues I am having. My rear left door something messed up and now says it’s always open but at first it would go back and forth between saying it was open/closed. I don’t have an alarm in mine to know if this would have happened but maybe this helps you.

    i lost the nut that the bolt for the door handle goes in. It just fell into the door. any idea how to get a new one?

    • @robertdoiron1379
      @robertdoiron1379  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had the same thing happen. I pulled back the paper on the door and reached down at the bottom of the inside of the door and found it. You can also use a magnet on a stick. hopefully this works for you.

      @@robertdoiron1379 I was able to do this job thanks to your video. I decided to put the door back together at the time since we had rain coming. Upon inspection it seems fine without that handle screw, so I'm gonna leave it be for now. Thanks for the video.
