- In this no-talking video, watch me do the hard work of setting up the no-build/pop-up Citroen Berlingo for a few days of solo car camping at Fforest Fields and then cook some lovely pork belly before sitting back with a beer or two!
This time, I set up a solar panel for the complete off-grid experience at a spot on the far edge of the site away from others.

Hi everyone - did another 'no-talking' video from Camp Berlingo again this time! Some say it looks hard work to get set up, but sit back and watch me do the hard work! I do get a reward or two at the end though!
Absolutely bloody love this set up! Bit of Shipyard and Boondoggle..Classic. Hope you're well, dude. 🤙
£9 for six assorted beers at Sainsburys at the moment!
@@104s_Unplugged Cannot go wrong!
I have a similar set up and I use an awning from Redcote Leisure just fits over the tail gate lift up roof with 4 pegs to keep in place on the ground sheet comes in a bag and very small and lightweight I highly recommend it as not so bulky.
Thanks for the heads-up - they've got some good micro-camper kit on there and will certainly go for one of hose awnings when my gazebo finally gives up the ghost!
Hi Gary,
Another fine video from you sir. What size is that gazebo you use?
Do you have any problems going on to campsites with a vehicle that is not a proper camper or motorhome? I've seen some videos saying that some campsites don't allow self-build vans or vans like yours or estate cars used to sleep in. I believe some sites don't allow awnings or gazebos, have you came across any of these sites.?
Cheers,
Sky.
Hi Sky - gazebo is 2.5m x 2.5m.
Indeed some sites to prohibit car camping and vans (especially sign written ones), but I always check out the terms and conditions of a site before going. Some don't allow gazebos or charge extra for them. Generally I avoid sites like these, but the Durdle Door site is quite strict, so that was the reason I booked the pod when I was there last Winter.
Just in case though I do have a small tent that I could set up next to the car - I could sleep in that, or pretend that I am, and stealth it in the motor ;)
and..... relax :D
Sitting down with that beer was the most authentic bit of video ever - I'd forgotten the camera was even running!
Aloha
Greetings - hello there!
The way you booted that kitchen carry bag out the way made me laugh :D How did you find the solar set up, was there enough power to last your stay? All the best mate
Solar was great - I ran the phone (used as an Internet Hotspot), the tablet and ran the cooler (on 'ECO' mode during the day). By the end of it all after 3 nights away, the power bank was on 100% charge. It was sunny that week though with input as high as 45w at times. Cheers.
Where did you get the gazebo?
Hi, gazebo was an eBay buy back in 2017 - £33 at the time and it's a 2.5m x 2.5m.
