- When Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal, raffled off his own Model 3 Tesla this week, he raised more than $2 million for his non-profit group Big Green. The younger Musk has been working to increase food literacy among the nation's school kids and to increase access to fresh, wholesome food for people everywhere. Barry Petersen reports.

Good, someone needs to fix our food industry. So hard to get healthy good affordable food.
My son's school had the first Teaching Garden in Sonoma County. This was in the late 90's. There's something magical about growing your own food. My son started loving eating salad and vegetables

Every elementary school in the country should have a garden for the children.
I pass by an elementary school twice a week that has a sort of garden, but when school's out, nobody is there to water it and it dies real quick. Imagine if it actually had crops/berries!! Class time is already planned out to the minute so to _make_ MORE time for something NOT "educational"...
I don't know what exactly but something has to change from within(!) the school system to allow a garden.
I don't think an elementary school or even a middle/junior high school will have enough extra money to hire a part-time gardener for the off-season.
As someone who used to be a student in schools, I only know what's wrong/inefficient in hindsight.

It is! Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a school garden! But from the financial shortages I see reported on the news every so often... ::sigh:: 😞
My high school counselor never told me home economics was available to me.
And probably a good time later after I graduated (20-ish years later) the high school finally gets a green house. I've never been inside but I'm sure it's been abandoned by now.

This is to say that what if some _don't_ want to go to college. Will what they learn in high school be enough to live by? Gardening could be something that's important to learn. Grow your own crops to live off of.

Awesome video after battling cancer I have all my freezers filled to the max with greens and make homemade arugula and kale chips almost everyday along with fresh salads fruits nuts Etc I try to eat every vegetable & fruit (raw for max nutrients) known to man that's available in our area & love that we import too. Walmart had kiwi from Italy which was fantastic. Im very picky about tomatoes but stem tomatoes at Giant Eagle never let me down. Farmers markets are great too but really wish we had animal drawn vege cart come down the street every day. Thats my dream.

@@snowballeffect7812 i dont know about him. He seems nice. But from what Ive seen, to be rich and sucessful, the prerequisite is selfishness. Everyone who have ever made any money has to be selfish in some way. Intelligence is an added bonus.

Granted, I'm not billionaire level rich, but considering the harm wealth inequality has wrought on this country, only the rich themselves and their naive minions would think it was a good thing to be that way.
