@@FromFame you know how Ford advertised the Maverick to be an affordable hybrid truck costing less than 20k? Yeah, that ducked up and the base model now cost the same as a base F-150 from 5 years ago: ~27k. Nobody wants to pay that much because of markups.
The average new car price from 2022 spiked to over 45k, which handily is about the cost of a Model Y, and if Tesla can really make the 25k car with a decent range, people will always flock to the least costly product including that with more bang for the buck (see Hyundai/Kia) and it's just about game over for the competition.

I would dearly love to drive a Tesla, but as a retiree, it's out of the question. At present a used Tesla costs more than a new one, in many cases, so that is not an option. Other EV's with high desirability, like the AWD long range Mach-e are even more costly. A point here is that the Mach-E is a much nicer looking car, but the the Tesla charging infrastructure is so superior that I would choose a Model Y if I could afford it.

It seemed to many like magic. All the people involved were "revolutionaries". Now we consider them old and slow. Eventually the speed of change will slow and we will see Tesla in the same light. According to Reuter's analysis of the EV industry, Tesla's profit margins come from keeping production costs in check by constantly optimizing its manufacturing process. Profit for the year hit $12.6 billion, more than doubling since 2021 and beating the expectations of most analysts. They make 8x more money per car than Toyota, the world's largest automaker. Tesla has taken on a century-old auto industry and is a profitable enterprise making EVs on a global scale. Kudos to the disruption and the future of the EV marketplace.

Seeing Elon and others who kinda speak like me on stage not trying to be eloquent motivates me to turn a blind on my speech limitations and focus more on the content on my messages. People just want the products they've already reserved (Cyber Truck) and paid for (FSD). Even the semi is in Cyber Truck territory right now where not much more than a prototype has been released for one customer to ship fluffy lightweight potato chips who probably signed an NDA not to release the range they are getting. If you can't deliver on products announced 4 years ago you really shouldn't be announcing new products. Tesla stock is going to tank tomorrow morning at the open. The thing that really hurt is when Elon said no new models or remakes were coming out, because it would mean retooling and shutting down the factories. I was so looking forward to a new Tesla model even a remake that would make the price drops make sense if they were trying to unload old stock for the new generation.

When Elon Musk spoke about supply chain, building the vehicle, it inspired me about fundamentals.
What I was inspired with, is the concept of have.
Someone can be driving a car, or riding a car from the out-sider perspective, so like a 3rd person view, which will appear as if the car driver owns the car.
If they are able to use the car, they must own the car, and owning the car is perceived as having a car, or to have a car.
But what if that car was shared.
But what if that car was rented.
But what if that car was bought with a loan.
People might admire car drivers to be powerful, special or cool, but that can be a false perception.
Owning something, having something, or to have something, comes responsibility, and this thinking can be applied to other ownership concepts.
I was riding a car since I was very young, but I didn't own the car, my parents did.
To the poor, I guess I would sound like a spoilt, previledged person, who was undeserving of such luxury of riding a car.
But that kind of thinking, that younger generations are spoilt, is a backward thinking harm to humanity, which is close to the idea of crime.
I was on a car, riding a car in the backseat, up until the age of 20, much more than After my age of 20 to 35.
So I was rich, not financially rich but experience-wise rich, because the industrial revolution and education system of the west made western people more rich, and now I'm poor because I don't agree about things like the concept of Mercedes-Benz working in the modern time and era of 2020~2030.
Back in the 1960s, the concept of Mercedes-Benz dreaming of a car for everyone, was probably ambitious and correct.
But dreaming of a car for everyone, in 2020~2030 is too simplistic and flawed as a concept to make money or milking money.
Maybe people are subliminal, thinking it's a given that human happiness is connected with travelling.
And since the tool like a car is more efficient to travel and do duties, people are blindly assuming that the production of cars at the rate of 1960s is at high demand in the 2020~2030 era.
I'm actually much more interested in fossil fuel, hydrogen gasoline, and electric EV, than this fantasy dream that we are sinfully forgiven to have pride in such material power.

I’ve always felt that logistics is extremely important being a former car dealer. I was always shocked by the expression. Well there’s an asked for every seat. I never agreed with that they put seven dollar an hour people in charge of the inventory in a dealership. Having the wrong cars at the wrong time in a high interest rate economy can put you out of business. To my point at the moment down here in Fort Lauderdale I’m looking at dealerships with a five month supply of cars. How does that happen? They are paying the wrong people too much money. They don’t have any respect for Logistics. The only respect they have is for the car sales people, they get all the money. And of course, it’s also true that Tesla is cutting into their happiness.

  • @bigbirdwpg

If I was there I would comment that at present, less than 5% of the energy produced globally is renewable, ie: wind and solar, etc. For instance California where the rulers are trying to force adoption of EV's, cannot supply power for the present demands, and 54% of their power generation is from fossil fuels. Where I live, (Manitoba Canada), almost all of our energy comes from hydro electric, but not all areas can do this. How does Elon and his team see a way to overcome this shortage vs need?

Damn, it seems you put that video together within minutes of the event ending! True confession: I was in the camp that thought this about the worst thing I have ever seen from Tesla. (I can see why Steve Jobs hated power points!) I thought it was uncharacteristically dry, I thought Elon (well, I do think) seemed fatigued and distracted, largely by concerns about AI. And to think I once quit your Patreon because of arrogance! I came back quickly, and will never leave again. You are invaluable to this community, thank you so much.
It seems he was showcasing his bench. Do you think Elaine might be letting go of the reins in pursuit of his other endeavors? I had never even thought that until this presentation, now I wonder.

Legacy manufacturers with their "catalogue" building model, often make the mistake of having only one source for an important part. Some years ago, if you wanted a metallic red car, it was unavailable because the only factory that produced the tint was a Japanese supplier and their factory was destroyed by an earthquake. A really dumb thing to do.

A long time ago now (pre split with the stock at 2000) one stock analyst said that in order to maintain this price Tesla would
have to open a factory EVER MONTH. Now if they can open a factory every year that would be wonderful, otherwise I wouldn't
bet the kids college fund on this company. If they are going to make factories in poor 3rd world countries they better buy
a few car transport ro-ro ships, otherwise your going to have even more expense per unit sold.
