    Thank you Jess! I love this bag! I will be making this bag for my daughter. I was super busy at work all day didn’t have a chance to get any of the AC fabric. I emailed them to see if I can still get some (thinking not).
    So I’ve been creating a huge tote bag for my son (planned and replanned everything and some things I’m still creating as I’m going along but it’s taken a long time for me to design it and I’ve added all kinds of challenging things. One of the things I decided to do was a recessed zipper like this. I have watched all kinds of videos but your is the best. I’m glad I didn’t get that far yet so in the next few days I will be watching your video to make the recessed zipper, so perfect timing :) I’ve only made 2 bags, both with your help but I think there’s no way I could be making this tote on my own now if I hadn’t had your help with the two bags. Thanks so much for all your tutorials! 💜 I can’t wait to make this bag, I love my Bonnie bucket bag (I made with your help).

    Adjust one strap to its full length. Attach a clip to one top D-ring & then attach the other clip to the opposite bottom D-ring. You now have a cross-body bag 😁 You'll also have the option to carry the bag in front or on the side. It will probably require a longer strap to do this.

    So much fun here! I now have to add Bonnie to my bucket list. Bernina question- how do you sew through all those layers (like before adding rivets to the straps)? I cannot get my 570 QE to sew through jack, basically (even just several layers of quilt cotton). It just stitches in place. So frustrating from this very expensive machine. 😠 Tips anyone?

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a walking foot would definitely help. The 770 has dual feed, so it's like a lighter walking foot. If I don't use that I find it much harder to sew through those thick layers.

    thanks Jess, its beautiful, I love it, I purchased the bonnie pattern the other day, but not cut it out yet , so now i can do the recess zipper that way, also would you not put stops on the end of the drawstring to stop it being pulled off ?

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can definitely add stops. My cinch is pretty tight, so I don't worry about it coming off. But if I were making this for someone else I would add stops.

    I’m curious as to what makes you decide to use one machine over another. I DO NOT need another machine but I’ve been contemplating purchasing a Juki but have noticed you are using your Bernina quite a bit in your videos. What are your thoughts on your Juki?

    • @OklaRoots
      @OklaRoots  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really have a preference, honestly. The Bernina 770 is sometimes in another place being used for embroidery, so I'll use my Juki for thicker bags or my Bernina 350 for smaller projects.
