Realistic Hay Bales - Model Railroad Scenery

  • Super detailing a model scene doesn’t have to be hard… With these easy to make hay bales you’ll turn the most basic diorama into an ultra-realistic scene!
Although they take time to make they are very easy to construct and they look fantastic. They work great for model railroads, dioramas and even war gaming terrain! The hay bales shown in the video are made to be HO scale however the scale of these can very easily be adjusted to suite almost any of the popular modelling scales.
Don’t forget to check out www.bouldercreekrailroad.com for more modeling videos and information and if you are enjoying the videos you might like to help support the channel by checking out my patreon page.

I used to make models...houses, ships, and planes for Department Store displays as a kid. My brother did the cars. I found that dental tools were fantastic and relatively easy to come by. Further, my dad was a machinist so he had access to those magnifying lamps and out of the ordinary hobby tools. Anyway I like the thread over the candle trick...pretty slick. Your displays looked very nice. Thanks for sharing,

Thanks for this tutorial. I recently was diagnosed with a terminal illness. It is a slow acting illness, but it progressively wears me down. Being disabled for me is new being that I loved Softball, Baseball, snowboarding, etc. Now, well I was lost. As I sat in the hospital I found You Tube to be a help. I was a collector of Marvel and Star Wars, along with other anime figures. But my love was Hot Wheels. I found videos that did racing. These kept me going. I had every intention of doing a channel when I got home but another 2 bouts of Pneumonia knocked that out. So I was a spectator. Then I saw customizing, AND dioramas. I had a idea if making a downhill track with custom pieces but I didn't know how to start. Your videos give me a place to begin. The fence tutorial I saw in the list will be one for sure. I subbed right of. I'm hoping I can learn some neat tricks. Like for one, Highway Signs or adverts off the road. I'm looking to maybe do those. The photo on it is a simple printer image scaled down but the frame work and base. They are metal base with wood or metal signage. Anyway I wanted to say thanks and just say hey. This illness has nailed me and hit me hard. I really hope I find a way to vent my frustration..lol. I used to hunt for Hot Wheels but now even that's stopped. My body has weakened a LOT and well IT SUCKS. But I'm not one to give up so, I have a decent amount of Hot Wheels. No enough rubber wheels or tires though, but I'm working on it. This WON'T knock me down. Thank you again and you might see a few questions from me. If you havw the time that is. I realize these videos are NOT easy to make. The edits and such are hard and time consuming. So take care and the bales looked great!!
