what about fruit farms in chantabury area? Do you know any? It could be nice to work a bit and to stay in a durian farm instead of being in the pollution in the city.. :)

NaturalBeing There are lots of fruit farms around but I don't know of any particular ones. I suggest you check out Lindsay's book about Durian in Thailand here: www.yearofthedurian.com/p/our-ebooks.html#.VYr59_mqqko it has lot's of information about farms etc.

Sweet Natural Living Do you think that usually the farms in chantabury are monocolture or that there's gonna be farms with many types of fruits?

NaturalBeing A lot of Durian and mangosteen...but pretty large scale mono orchards probably...

So is it hard to get enough good fruit outside of a major town/ city in Thailand? I guess it must be otherwise you woould choose a more peaceful beautiful place with less noise, pollution etc :)

Radiant Love It's pretty easy to find fruit anywhere in Thailand, but access to a market makes it easier. The main reason we spend time in Chanthaburi is because of the Durian festival there and that every year there's lots of other raw vegans around :)

Sweet Natural Living So is the best time to visit May and June for Durian and the festival? Is there good fruit, durian and other raw vegans there year round do you know? It's just good to get a recommendation of where and when to go for planning a visit :). I've tried jackfruit and frozen durian in the UK and love it - there's a special feeling like all is well in the world and all will be well when I eat it! So I'm guessing I'm gonna freak out about it raw and fresh! :)

Radiant Love The best time to visit Chanthaburi is certainly may/june for both fruit and people....the rest of the year I doubt there are many fruit fanatics there actually....If you want to go later, like July/August/September you would be better off going to South Thailand, like Koh Pha Ngan or something, the durian season is later there.
I can recommend Koh Chang in May, Chanthaburi in May, Koh Pha Ngan in August/september, and the rest of the year I'm not that familiar with!
