  • Farm Pu Nim Mangrove Restaurant (ฟาร์มปูนิ่ม) is a must for any self respecting Thai seafood lover travelling to or from Koh Chang, Chanthaburi or Trat.
    It’s a floating seafood restaurant located in the mangrove forest around a 30 minute drive from both the Pier for Koh Chang (Koh Mak, Koh Kood etc.) and Chanthaburi town. Farm Pu Nim serves up very good Thai seafood dishes using either seafood from the farm or locally caught seafood. Even the pepper they use is grown here!
    We ordered:
    Pot steamed glass noodles with soft shell crab - Pu Nim Ob Woon Sen
    Snapper with garlic and local black pepper - Pla Tod Prik Thai Gratiem
    Stir Fried Squid with Holy Basil - Pad Krapao Pla Muk
    Prices range on average based on what we had from 150 THB - 280 THB
    Directions to the restaurant:

    My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this TH-cam channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
    I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
    If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!

    I’m from Sattahip. My American father worked at the U-Tapao airbase on the B-52s during the Vietnam war. I have never seen anyone vlog in this area. Your content is fresh, local, and authentic. Too bad I’m seeing this video months later.

    You should go to Krua Chao Phraya Restaurant in Samut Sakhon. Drive there from Bangkok, and see the two temples along the route. One of the temples has a night market. Best get to the restaurant early for dinner. Amazing views, then see temples on return.

      It's actually not too far from us time wise with the highway right near us. Sounds like a top spot, we'll definitely check it out!

    Haha. Helen has to endure a lot with you. Chicken Cashew Nut is delicious. Let's see if she can add another dish by year's end.

      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha, she definitely does! I love chicken cashew nut. It's just whenever she gets it in a seafood restaurant, it's really bad. It's like they are punishing us for not ordering crab!

    Garlic pepper soft shell crab is what Thais usually get, too bad you didn't get to try it prepared that way!

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was actually on the menu as prik Thai gratiem so that's what I thought I was getting! But this was delicious as well, very unique sauce

    If you are a pepper lover you have to try the red pepper from kampot (Cambodia). The best I have tried so far. I order it home.

    Another trip, I left Bangkok and drove about an hour towards the Gulf of Thailand, to the Bang Khun Thien District. In an area rich with mangrove forests, shrimp farms, brine salt ponds and fresh seafood markets, we soon were on a stretch of highway lined with restaurants extending out (on stilts) into the mangrove forest waters (bayous). (my blog excerpt). I have a video of it. Email me at majorespy@yahoo.com and I can share the link. You would love this area.

      Amazing! We're right on the edge of Bang Khun Tien. This sounds like my kind of place. I'll shoot you an email now Allen!
