Hi Mr. Sheffield I LOVE your videos and I have over 50 house plants somewhere around 70 now and they're all thriving and as happy as larry, thank you for the knowledge!!!
You are amazing!! I enjoy watching your videos & I learn TONS OF THINGS every time. ❤ Thank you for sharing them with all of us!! I would LOVE a bit of your time, but as I’m on a fixed income with disability I am sadly unable to afford it.
Hey Rich! As always, absolutely awesome video! This is a brilliant idea and would love to see more videos of you helping others with their issues. Still want to see some time dedicated to your money tree, too. ;) Thank you so much for your time and knowledge- even those of us with decades of experience can (and do) learn from you!
I started with 2 yucca palms I planted in one large pot a few years ago. Earlier this year, I propagated a stem cutting, which now has three branches but grows slowly due to inadequate light. I also propagated a top cutting that I put outside and broke in half in a windstorm. I replanted the broken top and left the base growing, both outside. Both look great and are growing vigorously. Still have the parent plant and it does ok, but is too big to move outside..
As I mentioned on another video, my sister-in-law and I are propagating plants to give away to the college students where she teaches. We've even started a Facebook group where they can share the success and ask questions about plant care. Today I shared several of your videos on the group page.
The Sheffield School for The Well Meaning but Botanically Challenged! This is a game changer btw! There are countless folk who’d line up for an virtual houseplant consult! Love your normal content and don’t want to it disappearing, but think this should to be explored! Assuming your clients can operate a phone camera effectively 😉
Suggestion: have more of the client’s video showing when you describe what they should do. e.g. when you suggest something like cutting X number of nodes down, have the client’s video showing. Not that you’re unsightly to look at! 🤭
Hi 👋🏻 Mr. Sheffield, as always I loved your video! Wonderful the one in one consultation you have now! I know who to turn to now, when I have questions! Have a great 👍🏻 day! Thank you for all your amazing videos!!!❤️🌹🌻🪴
My thoughts would be to go out and buy about 4 or 5 new plants. Different plants. Bring the plants closer to the window. That is beautiful, large room. Fill it up.
Hi Mr. Sheffield! 🪴 I can't believe I'm this early! My boyfriend and I love your videos. Much love from the US! Keep up the hard work, and thank you for all that you do.
Hi, Dr. Sheffield, from Wisconsin, USA!! I have learned so much from your videos even tho I have 200+ houseplants and over 50 years of this. Question: My tap water is now reverse-osmosis and wondering if I need to continue with the API water conditioner? Should I still let the water sit out overnight? THANK YOU THANK YOU for your wisdom and humor!
Hi from France! I like this consultation time! I have a « problem » most of my aloe Vera -all come from my first « mother » aloe Vera, tends to become trees with a chubby trunk. I don’t mind but I would like to know why if someone knows. Thank you! Have a nice day! 😘🌺
How do people leave there plants to get it such a state ! I love my plants an always want them to look healthy. I buy all different substitutes for them check on them daily am always pruning an changing the soils if there not happy . It’s so sad to see plants in bad states , it’s like neglecting ur children !
Yes, It is a major problem in a cold climate as any water pooling at the bottom will lead to root rot. During summer it will dry out quickly and less of a problem
Tesco's Ashbeck mineral water is a good cheap option for the carnivorous plants. It's got low TDS and low pH (compared to other brands). Much more affordable than the distilled stuff.
@@hblack4857 I have never done that with yucca or dracaena and have never had a problem with propagating either. I just cut or saw them and plant them straight into soil. They get huge and are extremely drought tolerant and grow bigger than trees in full sun and dry heat.
Mr Sheffield I have a monstera andonsi it’s very leggy never looks healthy . I have fed houseplant focus every 2 weeks . Use humidifier, it’s about 2-3 ft away from south facing window an I changed the soil to a chunky / jungle soil . Any ideas we’re am goin wrong ? I just want her to look healthy I call her my scruffy plant cus her leaves look like they need a good iron 😂
I can say, I think the whole outer pot thing isn't common in the US. At least, I don't know anyone who does that. I have only seen it in TH-cam videos.
Sun! They need sun I live in the desert (when its 115 I put them in the shade) and these grow like weeds The ones in my house get leggy because they do not have as much light I almost never water them I even leave them out in the winter (it gets about 12 degrees to 22 here at night ) They might discolor a bit from the cold but they always bounce back in the spring Most issues are from not enough sun or too much water Love your videos!
Guys, please check were your plants grow in nature. The Aloe shouldn't be in that kind of soil. Yucca: If the top two standing leafes "start" hanging/going down a little: Only than they should be watered. My boss told me and since I adhere to that my Yucca grows nicely. Again: Check the region of origin. All my plants grow in self watering pots (Lechuza and Elho) with Cactus Premium Vulkatec mineral substrate.
Hi 15:15 Great idea for 1:1 Enjoy watching your video... Any chance of video for Palm plants please I also watched your video on pothos plants so just cut my marble pothos as they were touching the floor & put the cuttings in water & will add a pole to them once roots come out. Thank you
I'm doing the same with my Marble Queen Pothos and the cuttings have roots already 😊 I also read pothos have something in them that help other plants root if you place one in their propagation container too. Idk if true but can't hurt.
At least his plants haven't become Deer lunch... I have a few Prunus I was taking care of for blossom next year that are now sticks I'm trying to preserve.
Hey, does anyone have advice on how to save a burned Calathea rufibarba? My mum decided to repot mine during summer when I was away and put it outside in direct sunlight. It was completely burned. I cut away the leaves that were burned beyond saving, the leaves I left were not healthy but still medium burned. I have since moved it back to its original Spot, watered it only when it was dry and now its starting to get a few new leaves. What I’m asking now is: do I immediately cut away the rest of the burned leaves so the new ones have more space or do I leave them be for a while so they can still photosynthesize and help the plant? The new leaves coming out of the soil are rolled like curls and more of a brownish-red (the tops of the leaves are sticking out of the soil, not with a haulm). Maybe some fertilizer once in a while could also help? I'm a complete plant newbie and I didn't think it would survive, so I was hugely surprised when I saw these new leaves sprouting, especially given that Calatheas are real divas. Would appreciate any advice :)
In an ideal woke world each local council should have a department of Horticultural Services. Their job would be to follow up reports of phytoneglect, phytomaltretment and generally protect the rights of the phytogenetic world. If necessary, removing and taking to a place of safety, any house or garden plants, found being kept in poor environments. Sadly, some may have to be put up for adoption as many owners lack the mental capacity or will to adequately care for their helpless green dependants. Obviously though, fines and prison sentences should liberally handed out as a deterrent to habitual miscreants. Finally: all new seedling should be made eligible upon germination for free fertilizer. The additional amount added to our council tax is only another pittance of a sum and will only be objected to by a few phytophobes whom should be ignored.

Seems to me the biggest problem is no drainage holes, I'm so confused 🤔
Most of my plants are in pots without drainage holes and are thriving. It's really a matter of proper watering and enough light.

I think he should repot them into pots with drainage after being drowned in the rain 😀🇨🇦
Yucca will branch and dead easy to propagate. Loads of light and less water. They grow best in full sun.

We have one in the office that grows in at least 3-4 m distance to the windows and does so beautifully.

man those poor plants are leathered
Aloe vera is not meant to be an indoor plant. There are tons of aloe species that can be inside. But, aloe vera, it will eventually falter..
Glazed pots with no drainage holes 🤦🏼♀️
😂 move those bananas
