    I know you will get suggestions on this one. We have always had German Shepherd Dogs who love to run and they have a big yard in which to do that. In our privacy fence I cut "windows" for them to look out of which pretty much stopped the curiosity digging. 2x3 foot opening covered with 14 gauge welded wire and wood frame on both sides. To stop critters from getting in, I fixed 3 foot high 14 gauge welded wire on the inside of the fence and into the ground about 4 inches. Our GSDs love to sit by the windows and watch the world go by on the other side. They have also received their share of correction when they goofed up. Thanks for the great videos.

      Also works great if you have problems with burrowing animals getting into an area. Bury it 18" straight down and out about 3' toward the direction that you want to stop digging from. Closest thing I've ever found to "dig proof".

  • @Oscar-Sh

    To everyone that wants to build their own fence don't buy the 8' panels like Stan did. Doing this forces you to follow the 8' panels and not your yard. Buy 1"x4" fence planks, 2"x4" runners and 4"x4" post. Make the top of the fence follow the slope of the yard for looks. The 4"x4" post need to be 8' apart, the runners need to be 4" to 6" up from the ground and 4" to 6" down from the top and 1 runner in the middle of those two. When you mix the concrete don't do it in the hole with the 4"x4" post, do it outside of the hole in a mixer or wheelbarrow. Use screws not nails and if you want digging protection put chicken fence across and under the fence. Oh one final piece of advice when you dig your post holes balloon the bottom of the hole to stop frost heaving.

    • @Dirtmonkey
      @Dirtmonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good points. One thing I did witht he panels was cut them down to make them what size I wanted. My gate was a panel cut in half. So you can use panels and modify them to suit your needs.

    I'm planning on building a dog run on the side of my house. Luckily, my yard is fenced, so all I have to do is run a short length from the fence to the corner of the house. Unfortunately, I will need to put a gate in it. Not hard, just a little more work. And the dogs can't currently get to it without me going outside and letting them in and out, but I'm going to put a doggy door in my dining room that will get them "at-will" access to it. Just another item on my honey-do list!

    Personally I don't like pre built fence panels. It's Windy up in Washington State and it tends to blow the panels down. You should redo your deck with composite and take a partial amount of the blocks down where your stairs land and tie that into into some stamped concrete into you're gate on your fence.
    You could also use some chain link tension wire on the bottom portion of your Fence, stapleing it into each post and that might be Prevent the dogs from digging or at least from escaping without having to dig around The entire perimeter of the fence but may be a choking hazard

It’s so nice of toro to bless the person ho goes to one of their booths, snaps a pic with them in it and tags the toro company, to win a 60 v mower. Now that’s pretty awesome. Today i was grinding very much so in English, my teacher was giving such hard work, so i had to bring it hoe to work on it. It took an a additional 2 hours to do, i just went slow n steady. So Stan, what will you be hav no good at the place your staying at, any good food. Will your e tot try the authentic southern fried chicken, or many other southern greats. I know Kentucky has a good amount of wonderful foods. But then again, I hear all the other southern states have great cookin. They tried a southern restaurant up here called collies chicken. We’ll the first three months you could not even get in. Now they barely have cars. So yeah, we need some real down home cooking up here. Well stan, you have a great night, tomorrows plan is to sharpen my mower blades,and load the car. And then Friday after school i have two lawns, one lawn will be a feet and mow job, the other will just be a mow. Lawn season is virtually done, and then leaf season is next week. Have a great night bid, god bless and go get em, your pal and friend, Alexander costa

    Our golden retriever years ago that was her thing moon craters. One time I bathed her dried her with a hair dryer, that lasted all of ten minutes plops right down into a mud hole 🕳 while it rained. I was pissed off.. I don’t see how people with golden retrievers ever keep their coats as clean as pen. Much less in the house they shed. Labor of love.

    Good one, Yeah the last 15 seconds..I had Huskie's and when the weather turned stormy they were under the fence, literally, Didnt matter how much blockage was there, in the end, had to regretfully adopt them to a landowner that had a farm with more acreage.

    Another great video Stan
    Here in the UK we would have used concrete posts and gravel boards that could be buried and slot in fence panels. So no rot of the panels. Not sure if you use this method in the US.

    Hey Stan, you should check out fencing in the UK. We use a concrete board for the bottom of fences so your wood fence isn’t touching dirty

    I had to end up doing chicken wire fence. Attach it to the fence and then lay it out from fence 2 feet. Bury it with dirt and Sod. When they dig they get to the chicken wire and they hated it. My dogs were known for digging down under my fence and digging under the neighbors sidewalk and coming up on the other side of the sidewalk, lol. And they could do it fast. Rocks,bricks,cement didn’t work. These dogs learned how to move them. Crazy dogs

    I had a yellow lab female that used to love to run and chase squirrels. One day when she was 1 1/2 years old she chased one right across the street out front and someone ran her over at about 10 miles an hour. She went completely under the car and came out the back end. Broke one of her back legs and needed a rod plus about $6000 worth of urgent emergency care.
    She lived till 10. Never chased squirrels again after that tho.

    Hey Stan why not put a buried electric fence in like a sport dog and add one of there gps trackers to the collars incase your extra worried about one getting out of the fence I have one that can go up too 100 Acers that can have unlimited collars I generally even Bury the wire in nonmetallic conduit so you can change the wire without digging again or have the risk of something damaging the wire

    Are those panels stapled or screwed? In my area all the prebuilt panels are either stapled pickets or thin nails that don’t hold up at all. I ended up building my because of it. Ended up making a shadow box style fence to allow the wind through and let the dogs see out.

    Agree Functionality over looks one problem with the wrinkles in the tin the gaps you need to do something so your dog dose not cut his gums and nose tin can be sharp vet bills are expensive I have Rottweiler and German Shepherd and they both like to dig 😅

  • @rb-vv8tm
    @rb-vv8tm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    if you buried what they call chicken wire about 2 ft wide and about 3 or 4 inches under ground it would stop them digging.. they would dig down and hit the wire and that usely stops them. i built a chain link fence and they keep digging out and thats what i did and it stop them.
