  • Take a 3D tour of Buck Rogers' Rocket. There were many rockets in the long running series. In the early 50's my father and I bought Buck Rogers' comic books and built a model from balsa wood. It looked something like this.

If anyone knows whatever happened to this man. Please tell me. My childhood came from this guy. My career came from this guy.

Very impressive presentation! I’m more of a Flash Gordon kid but I really enjoyed this. I’m now a subscriber!

My memory of the propulsion system, based on attending Saturday matinee serials in the 50's, is considerably different. That ship was apparently powered by a Fourth of July sparkler, spit out of the rear through a modified 2-pound coffee can.(Oops, sorry, I was thinking of Flash's ship, not Buck's)

Also... the nuclear engines irradiated the crew to such a degree, that it caused them to vomit profusely off camera. This not only kept them lean and mean, but also removed any need for a galley and or restrooms, being that the vomit was instanteniously sucked out the rear porthole, known as the vomit flute. Hence we get the term "vomit comet" that was later adopted by parabolic flight aircraft, used to train hopeful space cadets

I’m not familiar with Buck Rodgers but nevertheless enjoyed this recreation and walkthrough. I’m excited to see more and more sci-fi manifest in reality as technology advances.

This is totally cool, but I'm not sure that I want to ride in it. With two reactors aft, and radioactive gas being vented forward underneath the cockpit floor, I'd want to be sure that the passenger compartment was very well-shielded indeed.

Ever think of doing the 1939 Buck Rodgers space ship?

I'm sure your dad would be proud! This is excellent work. You put a lot more thought into this than anything being made today (STD I'm looking at you). You make this vehicle look like it could really function. Have you taken a look at Mark Zicree's Space Command?

Good work as always, but I think cancelling the atomic engine project, as referenced in the video, as it applies to aircraft was a good idea. The shielding required alone would have dramatically increased the weight of the aircraft not to mention also intensifying a disaster like a crash. The strategic need for such aircraft was obviated by the nuclear-powered sub in any event. Hard to imagine any legitimate civilian uses. Still, appreciate the look back at Buck.

Hi you have very good work, what software do you used to do your modeling of the ship?
If I had the funds I would work with you on building a ship. The problem will the cost.

They didn't leave to much to the imagination. Cavorite was the propulsion and it was steered by various hydraulic shudders. The interior was laid out pretty well too.
