Please just cut down a few of the sapwood trees along your border for credit or trade with that sawmill for future credit account against future good 2 by 4 boards from them. You may never have to spend another dime!
The look on your face was priceless, Nathan! And then when you spun around to see if there was someone behind you! What a hoot! Those stink bugs are an absolute horror this time of the year. Thanks for sharing that beautiful cherry log with us. Those 2 slabs were gorgeous! Take care!
Nathan, when that bug walked across the camera lens, the look in your eyes was priceless. 😱
Nathan, There have been a lot of great moments on your channel, but that stink bug incident has got to be up there with some of the best. Love your videos!
Stink bug response was absolutely hilarious.
Frankly, that stink bug scared me too. It looked like the shadow of someone walking by. Then I thought when did Nathan get a camera operator?🤣
all you southern boys are so polite and have excellent manners... there's another guy I used to watch from Georgia that works his lathe and he's cool as heck too.. this country needs more men with manners like you southern boys.. I never miss a video... LOL..
Fortunately, and unfortunately, the South has both the best and the worst of people. This, from someone of the Midwest where we also have the same mix. Southerners certainly aspire to higher standards.
@@georgiarasmussen8343 .. I agree, there is good and bad everywhere, but I'm Mexican and resect, politeness and manners is really big in my culture.. so I really admire it when I see it in other cultures.. maybe it's just that southern, twang that sounds so cool... LOL.. and do you notice how much he loves and respects his father? if it wasn't for that southern twang, I would swear he could be Mexican.. LOL...
Just shows, "one man's trash is another man's treasure". Those2 two boards will look fabulous together in the right piece of furniture. Gosh, we saw Nathan the comedian in this video. Great video to watch 'friend'. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
And seeing the 2 boards side by side with water over them was spectacular.
Yes you were right that Cherry certainly did pop with the water on them. Stunning came to mind! 👍🏼
Those were a couple great looking boards milled out of that cherry log. Thanks for sharing with us Nathan. Stay safe around there and watch out for the Boogers roaming around there. Fred.
I think I’ve played the stink bug seen back over about a half a dozen times already😂
that was the WOW factor pouring water on the boards then you really see the "figure" and the two boards next to each other just beautiful that's why cherry is my favorite
Now you need a giant metal stinkbug sign on your wall😺
Always enjoy watching someone else work when I'm preparing for a task of my own that I somehow keep putting off.
I have watched this about 5-6 times and I laugh more each time I watch it.
Your expression was just to funny.
Nathan - it is October and Halloween is just around the corner - BOO. Nice cherry - it will make for nice furniture. Stay safe.
If I was building a bunch of those pallets at once, I would create a jig/fixture out of a cheap sheet of 4x8 OSB for all of the spacing of the 2x material. I would also place it on a few saw horses so I was working at waist height. My knees aren't what they used to be.
Build the first one then flip it over and it becomes a jig.
Those boards are beautiful. Hope someone uses them in a piece of furniture.
Nathan, the look on your face was priceless 😅🤣😂!! It was as if you saw a ghost. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
I love working with cherry wood. That’s some nice wood there.
Those pieces would be beautiful in a book page configuration on a build
Your face was so funny when that bug crawled across.
We were spooked by the shadow, too! 😂 I spent the whole time waiting for a near-disaster with the nail gun. Glad it turned out to be something that just bugged ya.
I thought you had a ghost passing through the saw mill !! Glad it was just a bug on the lens. Love your easy style and the wood that comes out of the saw mill.
Oh, what a beautiful table top those boards would make.❤
More nice wood! You're sure finding some nice stuff lately!
First I thought it was one of your cats walking by the camera. Then that look from your face ! I am glad you did not edit that!
Always love your vidoes. They are a great tools for fighting seasonal depression!
You were right Nathan. Those two boards will be a furniture builders dream maybe matching side tables or decorative stands. Yeah, we get those stink bugs up here too, flying around and making a racket. My grand kids chase them down and I'm happy to let them do it! See you on Saturday is likely at the PB Show. My wife decided to join me so will get to meet her too. She knows how much I enjoy your channel and learning about the work.
Awesome
No stink bugs in S. Florida, but we do get luv bugs in the Spring. They make a mess on your windshield.
G😅
200 lb anvil 😊. Gonna be good in the forge. In this episode of OOTW "Attack of the sabertoothed stink bug" Nathan gets the scare of a lifetime.
I want to tell you I saw your face when you saw that thing walk across the camera had a little chuckle because I knew it was something on there and you were looking back-and-forth trying to figure out what that was. Then when you started talking about it. I had some peach tea in my mouth and I spit it all over my iPad all over my bed and a stuffed animal. When I did that, I started laughing even harder and pissed my pants. LOL0 my God it made me laugh even harder . Nathan you kill me.
Got a very different perspective on the use of the crotch wood. Walnut and cherry are both beautiful.
Always look forward to your video … and the explanation is appreciated and educational.
That was pretty funny, I thought it was one of the cats. Another youtuber from Georgia I believe did a video last week on the stink bug problems they had. I live in Canada, we don't have stink bugs or cicadas, thank goodness! Just mosquitoes.
Had to watch the stink bug part twice made me chuckle
😂 I had to watch that bug clip three times. The look on your face was awesome lol
😁
Do you ever get tired of seeing all the beautiful patterns in the wood? I sure don't
THAT would make a BEAUTIFUL table top or kitchen island!!!
I enjoy all your videos Nathan! Wonderful job and personality. Keep up the great work friend🙏🌲.
Beautiful boards as always. Love watching you make high grade lumber. I was in the pallet industry for 23 years running a pallet mill. Just so you know, that was not a pallet-it was a skid. Per industry terminology anyway.
The 2x4 are stringers.
The 1x4 are decking.
A pallet has decking on both sides of the stringers, a skid has them only on the top side. It is a great economical way to carry things along as it gets no side pressure as they are prone to collapse compared to a pallet.
That reaction was awesome, thanks for leaving that in the video.
Glad to see you with a hat to keep your head protected from the sun.
One of the things I miss about my factory job of 25 years is all the free pallets I wanted. Usually oak, and the company was happy to give them away because it costs money to dispose of them.
Me too. Perfect for kindling for the wood heater and the oak in a burn barrel to help me keep the whole pig cooker going. Cooker made from a repurposed number 2 fuel oil drum. Oblong. 3 feet top of lid to the drain in the bottom. Eight feet long. Four foot in the flattened dimension. Built onto two axles with a towing coupler welded on. Four crank levelers.
That was funny😂, first thought it was one of the cats
Nathan, I just recently found your channel and I gotta tell you, you have my dream job! I showed one of your videos to my 9 year old granddaughter who exclaimed “Wow! That is SO satisfying!” as she watched those boards being cut. Exactly how I felt!
Darn those stink bugs! Wonderful video Nathan, lovely cherry log, a pleasure to watch you saw.
Many thanks!
Between you and me, I think that was a Sasquatch! You are lucky to be alive. I think Momma cat scared it off. Carry on with the sawyering.........Thanks for the video
Hahaha, I honestly thought you had someone walk in front of the camera as a Halloween joke at first. Love the channel!
I wish!
That is a really nice pair of boards, perfect for the backrest to a throne or something.
Love the bookmatching on those two boards!
Thank you for all your time and videos. I always enjoy all of your content.
I appreciate that!
Nathan, I love your channel and you-everything is so natural. Gotta say the visitor at the saw mill created a memorable moment for all of us. Praying for your safety. 😊
It also keeps you from milling pine trees to make pallets
Good job Nathan
ManOman, I do love Black Cherry. Thanks4sharing...
I agree, black cherry is amazing. Not as reliable as walnut, but then you never know what you are getting when you saw. Up here by Lake Superior, birch can be a lot of fun, too.
Good to be back in your mill, RB, Nova Scotia.
Those 2 cherry boards would make a nice book matched table top
I could see your cop instincts kicking in with that stink bug. It’s a good thing you served on the force for 10 years! Who knows how you would’ve reacted had you not! 😂
I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.
🙏
Got here late but better than never, very nice cherry boards! John Toccoa GA
My guess is a case Anvil, and thanks for leaving the shocking part of the video intact. “Priceless”. I thought it was the meanest cat on TH-cam’s tail. But when your eyes looked like this 👀 it was 👍🏻👍🏻
All your videos are good
Beautiful figured cherry 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
That’s some Beautiful cherry log.
@02:29. Best idea yet! Make a Master Pattern from a thin sheet of a durable product that you can roll up and stow out of the way, or hang on the wall out of the way. Thinking something like a thin sheet of flexible clear plastic that can be rolled up several times repeatedly before giving up the usefulness and/or cost effectiveness of replacement. As far as hanging method a thin sheet of galvanized steel should last about five years if touched up with the really good galvanized spray. It can be carried by welding on a few ⅜ inch nuts strategically placed in several places to carry with a homemade t-handle out of some allthread and a one foot long drop of mild solid steel that should be enough to make 3 or 4 that you can adjust to fit your bear paws. I presume you have a deburring tool, a grinder with a flap disc, a sawzall, a drill, and a buzz box welder? Can you get far enough away from the shop and house to do that kind of hot work? Remember that you buy and make the best quality only once! The metal shop maybe will shear the sheet and even all of your dimensions if you design it on your computer and give it to them in the format they use on the shop machinery. Go in a borrowed old truck without logos and be sure you wear a plain shirt and cap. Get a cheap street phone for ten bucks to use THIS ONE TIME with a random number not linked with you for the number to call you. Tell them in no hurry and it needs to be light enough to carry. You might luck out and get the spares and real galvanic paint cheap or free.
The Ghost of the Sawmill strikes again 😂😂
I don't own a mill. I have no need nor desire to ever get one. Yet here I am watching every one of your videos.
😂 l love how cabbage photobomb you.
The best!
🤣🤣 Brother, that made my whole day!! I would have reacted the Exact. Same. Way. Thanks for including it.
No problem 👍
Great work on that beautiful section of cherry 👍
Thanks 👍
Those made a nice book matched set--beautiful
Nice bookmatch set. Wish I was closer, would snatch those right up!
Enjoy all of your videos.
Always enjoy your videos Nathan.
Glad to hear it
Thanks for the video!🐾
I get freaked out all summer long with our Pine Beatles. Man I hate them bugs.
Always enjoy them.
@N8 of course we enjoy these videos especially when I'm sitting down to dinner. I need to get those items over to you soon. I have to have foot surgery and I will be laid up until Christmas after it's done it seems. Thus I will be stuck at home for a few weeks.
Your videos are always interesting.
Book matched those would look really cool as a table top
You should take that first cut, the old branch knob, to a good bowl maker. I'll bet it would be beautiful.
I enjoy ur videos everyday 🥰🥰🥰
That was so funny, because we could see one bug walking across the lens.
Beautiful boards
Thank you as always
Those remotes are nice. Use one with my harbor freight dust vac hooked to my wood lathe and band saw. Interested in how this cherry log turns out. Those top pieces would make some nice looking bowls.
I thought you had a visit from Big Foot.. LOL The look on your face.
Ron
A very nice pallet build video. I failed to catch where the squareness of the pallet was addressed. You know, make sure that both diagonal measurements are the same; it's a trigonometry thing and it works wonders. 🦊Riki2Tails
I alway enjoy your videos Nathan!
☺️ darn bug. i just alaskan milled some big maple thats been resting 3 years. it was awesome.
Thanks for sharing.
I thought Mama cat was sneaking in front of the camera. You’re right, that was weird!
What I saw when you put the water on those 2 was what a fantastic bookmatched door that would make
See that is the kind of stuff people who make knife handles and gun grips love to work with. And that is because each piece you work that has any kind of figuring or pattern in the wood makes each piece a unique work of art. But some of that stuff you throw away, or burn Nathan is also the kind of stuff that people like me who paint art work would love to have as a blank canvas. And I kind of wish you sold some stuff like that knot you cut off on your website.
I always enjoy your videos Nathan: Informative, entertaining, awesome landscape, cool sounds, affable presentation, plenty of humour and hats. 😄👍
😂😂😂😂😂 That look on your face when you seen the stink bug on the monitor! That's some beautiful cherry wood!
Great video
Really nice Cherry boards Nathan
Nice work.
