    If I am not mistaken, the US flag when hung like you have it, the field of stars are on your left side when looking at the flag. You have the field of stars on the right. Also the US flag comes first I.e. to the left and then the state flag goes to the right of the US flag

      Gerald is correct. The U.S. flag is always on the left of any other flag and the field of stars is on the left as you are looking at it.

    Good Afternoon
    I noticed you have an American flag on the wall. When you stand in front of the flag, and you are facing the camera the stars should be on the left. yours are on the right. I am a retired Marine and I notice things like this. Love your show and watch most every day. Good luck with the new tractor and new land.

    You need to turn your American flag around. The stars are supposed to be on the left side when you hang a flag like that.

    Coulda used that newly found axe to tap that hinge down on the gate. You oughtta add some dirt and white rock around your driveway. Bring it up flush with the top and it helps a lot with mowing and I’m sure the UPS driver will appreciate it also😂😂

    Nathan, I believe that hatchet you found is a roofing hatchet. It is designed that way for sliding up under the course above the bad shingles that would need to be replaced to repair a roof made of wood shingles. A very good find none the less.

      My dad did some roofing when I was a kid. I remember asking him why his hatchet was bent. He had a reason, but I don't remember now what it was. It might have been for splitting wood shingles. Dad's hatchet also had a pin in the side of it to set the shingle spacing at the right dimension.

    Nathan, Long time watcher and hopefully a longer time supporter. Save yourself a lot of time and a lot of shoe leather by maybe keeping a small canvas bag with some basic hand tools, hammer, channel locks, vice grips, crescent wrench, screwdriver w/ assorted bits, good flashlight, hacksaw, WD40, and anything else you might think of in your Tracker. Then anywhere you go on the homestead you will have the basics to handle most common chores without having to return to the tool shed . Take good care of yourself and your family, from one old retired cop to another.

    Nathan, I love the channel, and I appreciate how meticulous you are about putting up links to where we might get some of the nice stuff you’ve got. But I have just one complaint: you’ve got your new American Flag hung up backwards. The blue field should always be at the top left with just one exception, and that is when the flag is draped on a casket. Then, the blue field should be over the Veteran’s heart. Sorry to catch you out, but I figured you’d want to know.
    Thanks for all the years of entertainment and information, and may God bless you and yours.

    Nathan, a minor critique. The US flag should be displayed on the left and the Union on the observer's upper left. I loved seeing your axes. A few years back I couldn't afford Granfors Bruk, Halts Bruk , or Wetterlings axes. A lot of Bush crafters found out that Husqvarna offered a few hand forged axes by Haults Bruk. I went to the local Husqvarna dealer and had a splitting maul, large splitting axe, and small splitting axe ordered. The three together were a special deal and where many specialty suppliers couldn't keep them in stock, those 3 were well under $200. I also bought the multi-purpose axe which is my go to axe. I have other older US forged axes and an unmarked Granfors double bit not yet hung. Thanks! Love the channel!

    • @jamesjamesd9556
      @jamesjamesd9556 ปีที่แล้ว

      8Fed88, you're correct. I had to research this issue once upon a time. I learned that one should consider Old Glory as a person. It's ensign (blue field) should always be on its own upper right hand and if displayed with other flags should be above and/or to its own right of the others. The "person" thing has helped me remember whenever I get confused as to protocol...which is not an unusual occurrence. 🇺🇸

    When displaying an American flag vertically, the Canton (blue part) should be in the top left. It looks backwards, but proper flag display etiquette says the Canton is always top left, otherwise it is considered to be "upside down" which is a symbol for distress.

    Nathan, the stove door is like a butterfly valve choke on a carburetor. Starting cold, you want to leave them both just slightly open, creating a venturi effect. Both stove and engine will reach operating efficiency far faster than leaving door (or butterfly valve) wide open. BTW - I realize this analogy probably doesn't mean a thing to the younger, fuel injected era crowd!

    When I got out of high school in 1977 and started in construction the first deck we built was made from redwood which was the wood of choice for decks before pressure treated became the new material. In fact, trusses were made of yellow pine (at least where I live in upstate NY . Yellow pine is used for pressure treated lumber and trussed started being made out of regular pine\spruce lumber . So pressure treated . So, pressure treated started being used in the early 1980's .Those yellow pine trussed were heavy and were like nailing oak . And no, air nailers weren't a thing until a few years later . everything was hand nailed from framing to shingles.
