Done about 50 summits with my tactical pole it works well. Also being that lenght on my back pack its easier to walk through thick bushes and not catch on stuff like the old poles did.
Hi Ian, What took you so long?.... The Band hopper is a great very easy antenna to put together.... I will try not to go into too much detail because I know you are going to enjoy the experience of putting the Bandhopper III up and your video will be fantastic. For many years I have had the pleasure of owning a Bandhopper II. This just covers 20m and 40m but if I have understood you correctly possibly 15m as well... The antenna is made with tangle free wire which is a blessing and with the specially made winders a dream to deploy. Both the antenna and mast come with there own purpose made bags and it was an inspired design to stitch a pouch inside the antenna bag to house the tent spikes needed to secure the antenna when erected. In my case I think the smallest mast was a 7m (Spirit of the Air mast) again with its own purpose made mast. I cannot enthuse enough about the overall build quality of the system and the backup if needed from SOTABEAMS. In my case I used my Bandhopper II for a few special event stations at Heron Corn Mill with "Sands Contest Group" I have some serious spine problems "Cervical Spinal Spondylosis" which prevent me from doing much antenna deployment, but was able to set this system up on my own......... I now have two antenna to do this with..... "The Slidewinder" a recent purchase with excellent service, and the Bandhopper II. I know your going to enjoy getting this antenna into the air and seeing how well it performs....... I have enjoyed watching Ray G0TUE using his BandHopper on TH-cam. You have two low angle radiation antenna with the JCP-12 and The Slidewinder and now the more traditional dipole..... I look forward to watching your upcoming videos and hearing how they compare. Every day is my Birthday :). I hope to get out soon and test the BandHopper. Not sure when yet.
