Puma all day long for me. Ford have nailed the manual gearbox and suspension in recent years. Looks more modern in my opinion as well. Great review as always btw.
We bought the puma 155 mild hybrid and I’m still shocked at what this 1.0l engine is capable of and it handles like it’s on rails … and the stereo kicks arse
Having driven both cars, the Ford’s interior is low rent and the rear box on the Puma feels flimsy. There is a weight limit for it. The Captur just seems a size larger than the Puma. The front seats in the Captur are larger, more supportive and comfortable. Captur is very quiet and smooth, you can barely hear the engine it is so smooth. Captur for me.
Honestly, if either Ford or Renault offered the Puma or Captur in the U.S. with manual transmission, I would buy either one of them! I thought I read that the French car companies are returning to the U.S. Did you hear the same?
The prices of this small suvs are getting out of the hand just because they are popular. In my country Puma with good equipment is 25.000e. Same equipment Fiesta is around 18.000...

People saying about the pumas dark interior the captur featured here has a coloured interior yes but it's £350 optional extra and without it the captures interior is actually pretty dark as well
The dual clutch gearbox has a delay when shifting as a protection so it will be more reliable and I don't mind to be honest, it's not like I'm drivind a sports car :)
Purerly on design, the Captur wins hands down, Renault design team seem to have the midus touch these days, everything they design looks gorgeous, love this new Captur, and will defintely be my next buy...........👍

I have driven quite a few of the old Captur’s when I worked at Portbury docks and even hired one for a long weekend trip .. I found the old one very adaptable. What does scare me about Renault’s tho is Electronic Handbrake & Key Card Keys etc .. How they will hold out compared to the past we shall see .. The new puma looks nice but my only complaint from what I see from the review is the dashboard is too blue .. I am not a fan of blue dashboard lighting ( it also makes me ill )
Ford should bring the Puma to the US! Especially since they're not selling the Fiesta or Focus in the US anymore. But they'd need a 4-cylinder engine. I don't think most Americans would accept a 3-cylinder engine.

Driven both ordered Ford Puma ST 6 speed Manuel. I drove just with the electric I found it did 67 miles to a standard galleon of petrol. The window space has way more than the Captur , which I found lacking. Boot space is alot more than the captur and driving with the Manuel Puma was better than than the Automatic. In 2022 safety Puma stands out while the Captur again is lacking. Overall experience driving combined with good view from the driving seat,boot space and safety features outweighs the Captur.
Puma all day. Get mine next week. 155 ps mild hybrid . I currently own a fiesta mk8 2018 so I know how fords handle and drive . Many people saying they prefer captur because it looks a bit better inside but disregard the fact that even this lady trampled all over the rapture with its handling compared to the puma! Personally I think a better handling, a better drive experience is far more important than a bit of bling interior.

Ford loses for me, Renault has better quality interior with rear air vents and USB ports (must have now), new renault/merc 1.3 is a belter of an engine plus there is also a 155 version to match the puma.

Puma have fantastic outside design but Captur is better in interior,also I like real wind tunnels on the front bumpers in Renault and practical mega-box with plug in Puma's trunk!
Quick question, did you spot any problem with Captur's gear selector and switching from Reverse to Drive? I've seen some videos with serious issues on that matter.
I think the Ford Puma has lost the sporty look with the front. Renault has updated most of the interior where as Ford still use the same screen and most other controls. The Renault does look way better with looks and interior design.
The Renault 5 year warranty will sway a lot of buyers in the direction of the Captur. It's a pity all manufacturers didn't offer at least, a 5 year warranty.
I've got Kadjar and i can say that built quality issues are common in Renault models :) I'd pick Puma becouse of its agility and it looks more like a Porsche thanks to its front lamps :)

Renault capture Mmm 17 thousand miles on mine and the alloy's have started to pit not under warranty the R link crashes trim falling off water in the indicator's that's normal apparently going back to Toyota
Yes, lets remove the spare wheel in the Puma to save on weight and production costs and call the void that’s left a “Mega Box”, they really must think buyers are so gullible :-)
The Puma was officially launched a few weeks ago, even series production has only been running for 5 months . The Captur exists since 2013. Also, the pumas unofficial predecessor EcoSport has for example in germany much bigger sales figures than the Captur.
I think the Titanium X looks a lot better and more appropriate than the ST-Line X, a crossover with a body colour body kit seems counterproductive and the wider grille looks nicer in my opinon.
Much prefer the design of the Renault , especially from the front compared to the frumpy frog-eye styling of the Ford. Thankfully the Captur's interior , just like the latest Clio , is a vast improvement on the previous model , from the worst to arguably the best in class. The Puma would stand out in a more vibrant colour , like the vivid orange on the Captur , it is so much better than Ford's previous effort , the EcoSport & like every other model in their range , the best to drive , big respect to that 1 litre 3 cylinder engine , even after 8 years & many imitators from rivals , it remains unbeatable !
I’ve got the Puma with 155bhp ST Vignale, it’s a gorgeous car to drive. The Renault might have soft touch finishes inside but that orange is revolting.
Me I'd go for the Puma as it is a step up from what I am driving (Fiesta Active), so am familiar with the set-up and no fiddly touch screens to navigate through, those I find annoying. Cheers Rebecca.
I believe most people would rather have a spare wheel than a storage place under the floor. The hole in the boot open to the elements must also make it noisier? Not keen on the Puma's interior looks very dated. Think the all-new Peugeot 2008 would smash these two!

@@petedrake1 It's not a proper hybrid it has a 48V battery system but it still runs on a one litre turbocharged petrol engine and is only in manual transmission. The Renault narrowly edges it for me personally as I prefer a turbocharged diesel engine for long distance driving such as Huddersfield to Leeds on a daily basis or Huddersfield to London on the odd occasion.
I love the Renault interior but it sounds like the Puma may be the more entertaining steer. I'm also nervous about French design quirks like tiny glove-boxes. I think I'd be happy with either car. Great review, Rebecca. Glad that you picked up on a few negatives for the Puma - all the other British journalists were a bit too gushing.
Does any Puma come with powered handbrake, auto-stop and can keep behind stopped cars by itself, when using adaptive cruise control? (Automatic transmission models)
I have read that they will when the automatic transmission arrives, even it is in the configurator options. Although when that will happen given the current state of affairs is uncertain.
i like both of them. Puma looks more sporty from the outside, but the inside is 0815. Capture looks more practical and modern from the inside, but its not so sporty from the outside. I have to do some test drives with both of them :D

You can change the digital dashboard colour on the Puma, for example when in sport mode the colours are Black and Red

Its a close call- I slightly prefer the Puma but interior better on Renault

Because the Captur is better looking and cheaper. The Puma is the driverscar but the old people who buy these cars don't realy care about that.
It’s such a shame the lovely floating consol and nice automatic gear lever is not available in any other engine but the hybrid.

The main problem with the Ford is that it’s a Ford. The biggest issue with the Renault is that it’s a Nissan.

Test Drove a 2020 captur, it's not bad, but coming from a 2016 juke, there's no fun. Maybe I'll try out a Puma.

Moving off in the capture is bad if you put your foot down to quickly it jerks
I like the Renault better but a bit worried about the sluggish take off as was mentioned in another video.
My 2015 A4 avant was sluggish too..its a gearbox thing.

i like both of them. Puma looks more sporty from the outside, but the inside is 0815. Capture looks more practical and modern from the inside, but its not so sporty from the outside. I have to do some test drives with both of them :D

Puma wins by looks alone... but it's great that both cars offer good value for the money.
but such an awful colour used here - the red looks fantastic! (got one!)

The Puma has the face full of horror and surprise just as if Mat Watson has done a ‘stick of truth’ up the exhaust pipe and rammed it in to hard.

One thing that Rebecca didn’t motion that the Puma is based on a fiesta so it would drive better then the capture

really, the umbrella was necessary? It took up room, int he picture, and made it more difficult for you to show the car.
I cannot forgive Ford for re-using the Puma name on a totally different type of car. For me a Puma will always be that great coupe from the 1990s.
Agreed , Ford didn't even respected the Mustang name by using it on the electric crossover...😔
U guys had one? I did for my first car... and i dont complaint... puma coupe would be suicide...
