    In this video, we take an in-depth look at the life of Leonardo da Vinci, and what we can learn from him.
    I take a look at many of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions, discoveries, and creations - from his robot knight, to his tank, to his flying machines (such as the ornithopter), to his studies of anatomy and astronomy, to his viola organista. Of course that also includes his art, and the way Leonardo's paintings were informed by maths - as seen in the vitruvian man in particular.
    Leonardo Da Vinci was a true polymath and reneissance man. He was the 'real Tony Stark'. And he's someone we can all learn from. Da Vinci's works often went unappreciated during his time, but that didn't stop him constantly learning and exploring. We can all do the same!

    Hey gang, hope you enjoy this video! Let me know if you'd like to see more like this. Any suggestions for future 'legends' very welcome! And let me know what you're learning/working on right now.
    Just to quickly clear the water - a few people are pointing out that Thomas Frank also just did a video on Da Vinci. I did not know this at the time of upload! These videos take days and weeks to make, and if you check my Patreon and my last two videos, I've been talking about this for a while. It's likely not a huge coincidence, given that it's the 500th anniversary of DaVinci's death! I'm off to watch his now :-D
    Anyway, enjoy and thanks for watching!

      Wow! I am grateful for biography and didn't know so many things about him. I don't know why I hadn't researched him in depth before. Shame on me.
      I'm currently using several apps and websites to teach myself Java and Japanese. I follow channels, read books and articles to learn more about fitness, nutrition, meditation, and psychology. That's why your channel is perfect and I support it by sharing it with family, friends, coworkers, and the occasional stranger I meet at random places.
      I noticed your logo early and thought it looked like Vitruvian Ironman. Is this exactly correct? I'm curious as to the thought process.

      Thanks :-D I really appreciate the support! And it's awesome you're learning all that. I'm using Skillshare, Brilliant, and Curiosity Stream - so right there with you (really hoping they offer me a sponsorship someday as I genuinely love them!).
      As for the logo, it wasn't specifically meant to be Iron Man - more just a 'high tech' kind of vitruvian man lol. Though I think I was definitely a little inspired by the opening to the old Iron Man cartoon season 2, so I guess in a wat... :-P (think that might also have been riffing off of the lawnmower man!)

    I spent 6 years practicing writing with both hands at the same time & eventually moved up to drafting on two tables at the same time. It takes your thinking to a whole new level several planes above average since I use both sides of my brain all the time. Genius is a learned skill & not just a god given talent. I'm not a genius but folks that I come in contact with tell me that I am - folks confuse transmutation of ones brain from a drone to a rapid learning organ with genius. Kind of sad really! I read a book everyday since I taught myself to speed read & am a seeker of knowledge and wisdom. Nothing more and nothing less. Thanks for the video - hope it wakes everyone up to the fact that they all have infinite potential!!!

    • @TheBioneer
      @TheBioneer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Wow that's amazing! So you can write two separate sentences simultaneously? This is something I've often thought about. Does it allow you to maintain two trains of thoughts? Kudos on the amazing dedication! :-)

    • @zonzulu
      @zonzulu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It is one train of thought that develops left brain rail one , right brain rail two & a third rail that flips back & forth between hands & sides of the brain. Hard to explain but I'll try - I think my two thoughts that i want to write & they are compartmentalized into two thought packets - one for each hand & piece of paper. It then becomes a mental image of two pieces of paper that aren't even written at this point in time. Then I simply close my eyes & switch 4 to 5 word packets for each hand & flip back & forth in my mind as I write with each hand at the same time. It is almost a mystical experience in that I have one train of thought visualized as two packets & muscle memory does the rest. Our brains are f*cking supercomputers if we work on methods & get out of its way. With a systematic, disciplined approach diligently applied over years of practice I can do this thing & my left & right brain feel like they are flipping back & forth to the point of a state of resonance & the skill is now fully developed. I had to do lots of mind mapping & other subset exercises such as writing without looking the the notebooks along with very slow & methodical writing with each hand separately to hone my writing to a legible output. When i go to meetings at work it really freaks everyone out when they see me do it the first time and it is a real ice breaker with the teams I work with. Everyone that see's me do it look at my notebooks & they all say the same thing. Damn! Your hand writing is excellent - were you a draftsman or something in the past & I say yeah I used to be a drafter before these damn computers made the art obsolete. I take great pride in my hand writing & it is not in cursive. I write with both hands simultaneously in block letters approximately 1/8" inch tall & it does almost look like a machine produced the letters & punctuation. I have one more facet to master - i would like to be able to do creative writing with each hand & write two completely different short stories at the same time. Why? Just because its there. I fist thought of this skill when I had a very catastrophic motorcycle accident which caused me to impact a large car head on without a helmet at a relative speed of 100 mph. I bounced off the car & flew down the road two telephone poles in distance (approx. 120 feet & over the wires0 and I noticed how slowly my brain perceived time as well as giving me a glimpse of just how we exist with our brains consciously in idle compared to the near death moments & I decided to explore this realm. Higher conscious existence & high performance brain functional performance for long periods of time & when I thought about it I realized that when I was flying thru the air that100% of my brain was engaged in slow motion conscious thought & I was able to go from a cartwheel spinning at a very high rotation speed to a tuck & roll & landed on my feet. Saved my life!

    I'm also trying to figure out how to make my life more similar to Da Vinci's, by living a life based fully on passion, interest and curiosity. But the society forces us to surrender to a fake reality making us enslaved to the people in power. Any suggestions on how to achieve this??

      Thanks! Fair point. I tried to wrap this up in the conclusion - the idea being to be inspired by his desire to keep learning and pursuing new topics. To research and experiment for the sake of it, and not be held back by the belief that we can't bring anything new to a field or subject (especially with regards to a lack of qualifications). • @uexkeru

      The paleosphere was my first foray into nutrition.
      I digested piles of internet pages on the paleo diet, Weston A. Price, Stefansson, Loren Cordain, Mark Sisson.
      The results?
      I restricted my carbohydrate consumption, especially grains and legumes out of fear of "anti-nutrients" and was convinced by the WAPF that you could heal tooth cavities with raw milk and cod liver oil.
      I hit a strength plateau in the gym because I couldn't gain weight, and I ate a fuckhuge amount of meat every day.
      Despite the long term high fish consumption and later cod liver oil and gallon of raw milk, my teeth got two cavities in the molars and I get to get fillings. My blood results were normal for a young man like myself, except I had slightly high cholesterol.
      But the big change was when I went to college, took a basic nutrition course and started researching, to find out that what I'd read for hundreds of hours and believed was scientifically inaccurate and baseless, so much so that they revive the "case against grains" every five years because there isn't one. The case against carbs basically was destroyed when Taubes debated Stefan Guyenet on Joe Rogan, the antinutrient stuff is irrelevant if you cook and get vitamin C, etc.
      Now I eat piles of carbs, legumes, veggies, nuts, avocados - and no meat or milk ever.

I'm still not fluent but after afew years I know 1200 characters and can half way understand chinese netflix shows. But I did read that chinese uses one half of the brain and English uses the other. Have you ever considered making one of your 'Think Like" videos or articles on some of the famous magicians in history? Not just Houdini (though, certainly, there's probably a lot to work with) but the Maskelyne family, who eventually funded construction of a theater build specifically for use by stage magicians AND who had a particular member, Jasper, that joined the Engineering Corps during WWII and had such plots as "Make the Suez Canal Disappear" to hide it from German Bombers, making the City of Alexandria 'Move' for similar purposes and apparently helped construct tank camouflage out of manure.

    Is there any way that you can do a video on "The Great Gama" specifically on:
    - Gama eating massive amounts of nutritious food (+10,000 calories per day) can influence strength (without the weight gain factor).
    - His inspiration on Bruce Lee's training.
    - His physical feats as well as his daily workout routine and how long it would realistically take to be able to do that said routine.
    - A brief history on him
    Another video idea I thought would be interesting is the possibility of being able to strengthen organs in the same sense of strengthening muscles, tendons, bones, etc. Answering whether it is possible to strengthen organs through minor tissue damage in order for it to repair stronger. Ex: building alcohol or lactose tolerance through minimal but continued exposure to alcohol or dairy.

    its a good video but if I might offer some constructive criticism, it didn't exactly teach me to "think like Leonardo da Vinci" because thats what we're really here for aren't? so maybe you could've gone in depth about that. because you didn't it just felt like a wikipedia page come to a TH-cam video.

  • @polymathg

    Great video, but da Vinci as asexual. Needed to point that out. The only "evidence" of him being homosexual was defamatory charges brought against him out of jealousy. Take note.

    Bruce Lee is what led me to your channel and you led me to Arnold who has become an idol after reading his book. I like these legends series, but I do have one request. I would like to see one about a woman. As I was watching this I saw the montage of legends and I just realised they are all men. I’m not trying to get into gender stuff, I would just like to see something on someone like me.

    • @TheBioneer
      @TheBioneer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them :-D And of course! Actually if you look closely at the end of the second montage over the clock there is Queen Margarethe II of Denmark. And there are plenty more I will be getting too eventually :-) Any requests?

      There's more than just gender to connect people

      Obviously, as I mentioned I became a bigger fan of Arnold and was already a fan of Bruce Lee. Both men that I connected to.
      But that wasn’t the reason for my comment.
      I’m going to assume you are a man from your username. There are plenty of male figures of various races that have or could be made a focus if these videos.
      My request was to see women because I am a woman and would like to learn and see women like myself.
      And gender does matter. What shouldn’t matter is the disparity of value between the two.

    I think Leonardo da Vinci was a wise man in fast his iq was estimated to be around 220.Leonardo da Vinci use to make a lot of notes .I think as far as whole brain thinking goes it might be nice consider Einsteins words imagnation is more important knowledge .When i think of valuable ideas in modern day maybe 🤔 i could design robots that are a cross over between the cartoons Transformers and Gundam wing.Anyways this video had some really genius ideas 💡.Im really just kidding im never gonna design those robots so that it easy.After all its not the end of the world.
