Jenny I love that you go fast with explanations. I won’t watch padded out videos as too boring but I can pause yours to be clear about instructions. Love your videos!
Jenny's tutorials are the best! She teaches like she's a friend in your home showing you a new quilt pattern. Great explanations, visuals, step by step details, low key calm manner. It's more like spending time with a dear family member guiding you through a skill she has mastered and wants to share from all her years of expertise.
Great tutorial as always. I have learned how to quilt by watching your videos...it is easy to follow, you take your time, show it step by step, thank you Jenny. I am making this quilt for a co-worker (friend) of mine, she chose Star Wars fabric that I ordered from you, layer cake and backing. Can't wait to show it to you when I'm done. I have also made the Sparkles quilt, it's gone for quilting, and I made the Vintage Blossom quilt. I sent you a picture of that one....thanks you to the whole Missouri Star Quilt Team
My dear Jenny, I am about 25 miles away from you in a town called Chillicothe. My buddy quilter Rosie and I arrived in St Louis Friday night and on Saturday we visited Hannibal. Beautiful places here, then we drove on Route 36 to get as close as possible to MSQC. It has been a great adventure, can't wait to see everything tomorrow. You are the reason I quilt, thank you.
Love this! I just bought a variety of purple fabric and plan to make this diamond quilt as a gift! Thank you once again for showing us the way, Jenny! You are a blessing!!
I LOVE looking back at some of your older video tutorials, especially when I am trying to decide how to use up some of my scraps. Wow! My son got the same diet you did...and his results have been similar, though he still has to work out at the gym. I must say you are looking a LOT better these days; I hope you are feeling better, too.
What I love about Jenny is that she remembers her audience and never forgets to add all the hints and tricks we will need to make the perfect quilt. Thank you SO much Jenny for being such a great teacher!
Exactly. Also, MSQC is very generous because Jenny gives really nice quilt patterns for free! Most places won't tell you the details because they're using other people's quilt patterns. Which I totally understand. But they produce such nice patterns and then give the pattern away! Which totally makes me want to buy my fabrics from them because they're so generous.
hi jenny. u make the most impossible things so easy. I v done disappearing pinwheel n many more following ur easy tutorials. which otherwise wouldn't hv dared to try. thanks a million n lkng for more. bye. happy quilting.
I love it! Awesome tips on triangles. Jenny says she's angle-y challenged, but I was tri-angley challenged for the LONGEST time, but both tips on the 1/4" tails, and attaching the rows are key to alleviating extreme frustration! Thanks for the great tut!
I really like the way Jenny explains everything so clearly. Amazing. I’m not sure why people would give a thumbs down. There’s nothing negative about these tutorials.
I just can't thank Jenny enough for all the great tutorials. The Daily Deals hooked me first than the tutorials. You are amazing! Thank you for taking quilting to the level it is now at, it is a so fun to quilt today, compared to 20 years ago. Thank those wonderful children of yours who took a plunge and helped a whole world enjoy everything the site offers. I love it!
I love All your Tutorials, I start Quilting last winter, I want to leave my grandkids and children something to remember me by after I am gone and something they can hand down to their kids an so on. you are such a great teacher!!! I noticed we all have those scrappy scraps you know the kind u can't do anything with them, so what I have done is I save them all instead of throwing them out...scraps of cloth batting anything soft, then I get a yard of fleece, you can get that at Walmart for like 3 dollars a yard, then I sew it up like a pillow case, fill it with all those scraps, close it up, then donate it to my local dog shelter. So as I look at it you are partly responsible for all these dogs that will get a soft bed to lay on.
Love this quilt and the collection you used. Just FYI, I was able to cut one small half Jedi from the scraps after cutting two wedges and made a baby quilt. Just in case anyone else had not already figured that out. Thanks for all the tutorials!!!
This is a beautiful quilt made even nicer with the yummy fabric. (I love quilts that really showcase beautiful fabric!) This is one, though, that I think is deceptive, perhaps not quite so "simple"? I like longer tutorials and this one I think could help folks like me to catch and understand all the tips if it were longer. Grateful for the video and I'm adding this to my wish list. I think it might be nice to do those wedges in a color, too? That border fabric is so pretty that I could see this without any white border and just have the border fabric, wedges of the same, then all the pretty diamonds? Thank you!
hei Jenny,Thank you for this beautiful tutorial...wow how much your knowledge you shared! Thanks a lot. And that you, even I live in Finland I receive your catalogue! Now I dream much more in all this beautiful quilts. Thank for this too!
I have learned so much from your tutorials!! I have just recently started building up my stash thanks to your shop : ) one of my favorite lines lately is the "hometown girl" ..this would be a great pattern for that material!!!! Thanks again :)
Love the quilt Jenny. My first thought was "How would it look if you turned the diamonds on their side?" Now there's a small simple wedge for charm packs, but how great it would be to have a mini simple wedge ruler for the mini charm packs.
AWESOME!! Thank you for the "tips" on where to put the "tails" when joining the pieces...I never knew that! I did a quilt top before and could NOT get my points to look good. It's in my scrap box!
I really really love your tutorial you do make it so easy I'm still working on my Starburst quilt I'm going to do the Jacob's Ladder next... Thank you so very much for sharing
I have really learned a lot from your tutorials using pre-cuts. But I have mostly yardage cuts of fabric. Could you do tutorials using yardage also? I know I could cut my fabric into a pre-cut size. But it would be fun to see tutorials that don't use a pre-cut. Thank you so much! I enjoy all your tutorials and have learned a ton from you!
First let me say that the MSQC tutorials are wonderful! I've learned most of what I know about quilting from Jenny. I get BLOCK magazine too and the combination is great. This quilt was recently featured in BLOCK and I decided to make it using the fabric featured in BLOCK magazine. Here's the bad news - this one is not working for me at all. I'm still not an advanced quilter; probably a fairly solid intermediate; but this one was making me crazy - losing more points than I was finding!. Finally decided to for get the points and put the silly thing together. At least I like the fabric. Not sure where my disconnect was - as I said I usually get good results from these tutorials - but for some reason this one just didn't work for me. Probably my fault but needed to fuss for a minute!
Wouldn't it be easier to cut the 10" squares across the diagonal first and then place the template? Then there would just be one easy cut. Would love to see what you could make with those remaining triangle pieces???
Love the tutorials. I was just there Tuesday and Wednesday, I just wanted to see the stores. I really enjoyed the trip. The stores are all fixed up so nice. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Can you tell me where these tutorials are made?
We're so glad you enjoyed your recent visit here Cynthia, and hope you can come back soon! Our tutorials are filmed right above one of the shops in town!
I have learned to quilt from you. You are amazing. I need to quit watching because I want to do everything you demonstrate and I have many other things to do beside quilt...I take care of my husband which I love to do but I also like to quilt!
Tempo perdido. Prejuizo incalculável. Nao me desanimei. vou continuar a seguir seus tutoriais. Amo seus trabalhos
Jenny, I just thought of something! Why not flip the wedge to where the point is down and cut up, going past the "bottom"? That way there's no chance of cutting into the side of the 2nd piece. I hope this makes sense.
Hello Jenny, I love this quilt and I want to sew it as a day blanket. Now I would like to know how your quilts are quilted. Do you use a transparent thread? Thank you for your reply in advance
Great question Hermine T.! We actually don't use transparent thread or variegated (multi colored) thread. Instead we use Omni thread by superior, which is a poly wrapped thread.
This is a really pretty quilt I think could be given to either a male or a female. By that I mean some quilt patterns to me are 'girly' such as Sunbonnet Sue. When getting ready to sew your rows together would you recommend pinning them to keep the seams nesting? I think that's where my problem getting a quilt to come out even may be because of not pinning them first.
You're so right, Joyce! This would make a great masculine quilt with the right fabrics! How fun would it be in flannel?? You can definitely pin to make sure your seams are meeting up! I also like the Wonder Clips. Good luck!
I should have used pins in my first quilt top. I made a pinwheel quilt top and it's slightly longer on the right side than it is on the left by about 3/4".
Hi, Jenny, I have this quilt top (wedges) stitched together and am getting ready to add the borders. Is the inside border cut at 3" to give a 2.5" border or is it cut at 2.5" for a 2". I have the same question for the outside ~ it is cut at 6" for a 5.5" border or 6.5" for a 6". Silly, I know, but I like the look of the one you did and want to keep the proportions right. Thanks for all the great tutorials you post for us and for BLOCK :-) Thank you.
Jenny....at the very end of this video, the sign comes up "Check out the Quilters Daily Deal...and below that are three boxes with other videos in them. What is the middle one? I love the design but I can't find it on my MSQC app or here on TH-cam. Maybe I didn't look hard enough? Love the easy diamonds. Love all that you do & hope to see you in Erie PA!!
Sorry about the confusion Marmalute! This middle tutorial is one of our future ones. It should be coming out soon, and we hope you enjoy it when it does!
I love your tutorials. But I wonder why you never list the amount needed for the binding when you give the list of supplies, or at least say there is enough in the border or backing yardage for the binding.
that's beautiful Jenny, may I ask you a question about the backing, if the quilt is larger than the width of the backing fabric do you simply just sew yardage together or is there special wider fabric for doing that? xx
You sew them together and I've been told that those that do the quilting prefer that the seams are horizontal rather than vertical. Or you get wider fabric which I believe is 106" wide. Hope that helps.
hello! I have done both...sewing yardage together in coordinating fabrics as well as using broadcloth I purchase at JoAnns Fabrics. Broadcloth comes in very large widths and you can often use a single piece to back it.
Good question, Joanne! We do offer a wide (see what I did there? ;) variety of wide backing fabrics, but it is just a matter of preference what you would like to do! You can certainly piece them together as well! Here are our backing fabrics: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/browse/225
Fantastic tutorial. Question, though: Does it matter which way your 'ears' go? Does the right triangle always have to be the top ear, for instance? TIA
Here are two quilts that Jenny used that used Flannel material. Jumping Jacks: th-cam.com/video/TKo790YgZ8o/w-d-xo.html Spice Rack: th-cam.com/video/jw7PLffgFY4/w-d-xo.html
i just spoke to your costumer service a couple of days ago. during our conversation I mentioned a new fabric line created by the author of Quilt as you go modern, her name is Jera. her website/blog is quiltingintherain.com I truly believe Jenny and her customers would live to see her on a video using her new "High Tea" collection. she had a tutorial on a cathedral style quilt that is fun, easy, beautiful, and fairly quick and no binding which I know a lot wish they could avoid. i highly recommended MSQC gets in touch with her and i believe customer service was passing her information on to one of your departments. Jenny will live the line and Jera's ability to create beauty for the person who loves practical, beauty and fast. Book two is in works and Im thrilled. i did order her jelly rolls (sushi rolls), charms, a few fat eights and best her origami squares. they are a twin pack of 42 squares per pack that are 2 1/2 "
Hi.Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have leaned sooooo much from you. But I have a question. Can I use (19 colors one is white for the sides so 18 colors total ) 10" squares to do the quilt. If you have the time please comment. I would like to start this quilt before this weekend (07/22/17) Thanks and take care.
For this quit Myrna, you'll need two 10" square packs for a queen, and 2-3 10" square packs for a king. I recommend viewing our Precut standardization page by clicking on this link below. www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/6347/oliso/-/oliso-auto-lift-pro-zone-iron
That should work just fine Phyllis, the blocks will just be smaller! We have the large simple wedge template for this quilt if you're interested! You can view this wedge by clicking on the link below. www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/5545/msqc/-/large-simple-wedge-template-for-10-squares
It is not, however, the rhombus template does allow for a 60 Degree triangle. Here is a link to that template: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/55281/msqc/msqc/rhombus-template
Jenny I love that you go fast with explanations. I won’t watch padded out videos as too boring but I can pause yours to be clear about instructions. Love your videos!
Great colors!!!! No blues…. Yeah!!!!!!!! Love the geometric look!!!! Brilliant!

That's so great to hear, Brenda! You can always count on a new Friday tutorial!
Miss Jenny, thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. I always appreciate you and your fabulous tutorials.
I love it! Awesome tips on triangles. Jenny says she's angle-y challenged, but I was tri-angley challenged for the LONGEST time, but both tips on the 1/4" tails, and attaching the rows are key to alleviating extreme frustration! Thanks for the great tut!

I am confused, how can you not love Jenny’s tutorials? Another great tutorial!

Thank you so much for your generous and kind comment Charleen! We wouldn't be where we are today without our loyal fans! :)
Thank you!!! I’m trying to sew a vintage pattern, and I haven’t done any triangles yet, the 1/4” hang over tab was very helpful for my project!!
That is a stunning pattern to show off a pretty fabric!
Thanks Stitch Wishes!
As always you make me feel like I can make anything because you break it down so well. Thank you!

Love this quilt and the collection you used. Just FYI, I was able to cut one small half Jedi from the scraps after cutting two wedges and made a baby quilt. Just in case anyone else had not already figured that out. Thanks for all the tutorials!!!
Lora Parker, What is a small half Jedi?
Love this one .... and Thank you Jenny for taking the time to help line it up when sewing ... that was a great help.

This is a beautiful Quilt!!!

You are most welcome Jenny. 😃
This is a beautiful quilt made even nicer with the yummy fabric. (I love quilts that really showcase beautiful fabric!) This is one, though, that I think is deceptive, perhaps not quite so "simple"? I have learned so much from your tutorials!! I have just recently started building up my stash thanks to your shop : ) one of my favorite lines lately is the "hometown girl" ..this would be a great pattern for that material!!!! Thanks again :)
This would be a great material for this quilt Teresa!
Love the quilt Jenny. My first thought was "How would it look if you turned the diamonds on their side?" Now there's a small simple wedge for charm packs, but how great it would be to have a mini simple wedge ruler for the mini charm packs.
That is a great idea Linda! Thanks for the wonderful suggestion!
wow, this looks so rich and classy.....to do....8 months to retirement but dozens of quilts to come....
Happy retirement Mario! Keep up the wonderful work!
i love all you quilt idea , thank you so much
Hints & tricks are great.
AWESOME!! Thank you for the "tips" on where to put the "tails" when joining the pieces...I never knew that! I did a quilt top before and could NOT get my points to look good. It's in my scrap box!

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏sempre bravissima complimenti
I bet it would be cute for a baby too using the small wedge template
This would be very cute for a baby quilt Faith! Great idea!
I have learned to quilt from you. You are amazing. I need to quit watching because I want to do everything you demonstrate and I have many other things to do beside quilt...I take care of my husband which I love to do but I also like to quilt!
I like how you are getting 2 cuts from one square but aren't they off grain for the layout?
Thank you Josefa!
What is the angle of the wedge shape? I don’t know if I have that particular ruler but I have a plethora of rules. Does anyone know?
Jenny, love all your tutorials but wonder why you don't use a rotating cutting mat at times like this.
Hello Jenny,
I love this quilt and I want to sew it as a day blanket.
I've always wanted to make a diamond quilt that was mullioned. Could I just insert strips between each triangle in the rows?
This is a really pretty quilt I think could be given to either a male or a female. By that I mean some quilt patterns to me are 'girly' such as Sunbonnet Sue. When getting ready to sew your rows together would you recommend pinning them to keep the seams nesting? You can definitely pin to make sure your seams are meeting up! I also like the Wonder Clips. Good luck!
Wonder Clips? I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the tip!
I should have used pins in my first quilt top. I made a pinwheel quilt top and it's slightly longer on the right side than it is on the left by about 3/4".
I LOVE MISSOURIANS .... BOTH PARENTS WERE BORN IN THE N/E CORNER OF MO.
Great question! We cut them at 2.5" for inner border and 6" for outer border. Finished they will be 2" and 5.5". I hope this helps you!
Thanks so much for your quick response; it is greatly appreciated.
When you are sewing your rows together, you also leave a tail hanging?
Jenny....at the very end of this video, the sign comes up "Check out the Quilters Daily Deal...and below that are three boxes with other videos in them. What is the middle one? +Donna Perras thank you so much for your kind response, I really appreciate it
+Melody Stillings that's really kind of you to respond thank you, I'm in the UK so I will try and find wider fabrics closer to home, happy swing x
Fantastic tutorial. Question, though: Does it matter which way your 'ears' go? Does the right triangle always have to be the top ear, for instance? TIA
Great question Angela! It really doesn't matter which way your ears go! Just use your best judgement.
Could you show how to do a flannel quilt before Spring sets in? Having a hard time doing mine.
Here are two quilts that Jenny used that used Flannel material.

is it possible to make this using 6 inch blocks versus 10 in blocks?
Does your company ship to Canada?
How can I make a border of these diamonds (smaller though)
i just spoke to your costumer service a couple of days ago. during our conversation I mentioned a new fabric line created by the author of Quilt as you go modern, her name is Jera. her website/blog is quiltingintherain.com I truly believe Jenny and her customers would live to see her on a video using her new "High Tea" collection. she had a tutorial on a cathedral style quilt that is fun, easy, beautiful, and fairly quick and no binding which I know a lot wish they could avoid. i highly recommended MSQC gets in touch with her and i believe customer service was passing her information on to one of your departments. Jenny will live the line and Jera's ability to create beauty for the person who loves practical, beauty and fast. Book two is in works and Im thrilled. i did order her jelly rolls (sushi rolls), charms, a few fat eights and best her origami squares. they are a twin pack of 42 squares per pack that are 2 1/2 "
Thanks for the wonderful suggestion China Ali! Something we need to look into! :)
you won't be disappointed promise
Hi.Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have leaned sooooo much from you. But I have a question. Can I use (19 colors one is white for the sides so 18 colors total ) 10" squares to do the quilt. If you have the time please comment. I would like to start this quilt before this weekend (07/22/17) Thanks and take care.
I had the same problem. No points. Mine is still pretty.
How do you sewing the diamond shape together
Dimensions on the wedge template?
👍👏👏👏
Hi Jenny: 💐how do I make a queen or king size quilt.??
For this quit Myrna, you'll need two 10" square packs for a queen, and 2-3 10" square packs for a king. I recommend viewing our Precut standardization page by clicking on this link below.

could not find a 10 inch wedge---found a 61/2 wedge---will that work too???
That should work just fine Phyllis, the blocks will just be smaller! We have the large simple wedge template for this quilt if you're interested! You can view this wedge by clicking on the link below.

Would this work with smaller wedge that works with five inch squares?
Great question Jennifer! The smaller wedge would work just fine for this quilt, the diamonds will just end up being smaller.
If I may ask, Is this a 60* triangle?
It is not, however, the rhombus template does allow for a 60 Degree triangle. Here is a link to that template: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/55281/msqc/msqc/rhombus-template
