The Non-Canon Expert looks at why Order 66 would've failed if it was executed before the Battle of Coruscant, explaining what Palpatine did to ensure that Order 66 and the Sith Grand Plan was successful.

I find it very interesting that due to the mindlessly-obedient clones-coupled with the chaos of war deepening the dark cloud that shrouded the galaxy-limited the Jedi’s perceptions and caused so many of them to be gunned down during Order 66
True. The light side of the force seemed literally a light to a Jedi’s surroundings and environment. The darker the force became it basically limited and eventually restricted their jedi vision to everything, making them almost like ordinary ppl when they needed the force the most.
Not to mention that Palpatine was so powerful that he blinded the Jedi just as he blinded Plagueis of his true intentions.
Well the Jedi could sense no malice in the clones. This was perhaps the largest factor as once order 66 came in, the clones would just be doing their duty, something seemingly pure yet evoking no emotion. Without that shift in emotion, there was no telltale warning for the Jedi to pickup on that they were about to be executed, save for the very powerful like Yoda.

Thank you for keeping Legends content and especially the Republic Commandos novels alive. I personally hated the brain inhibitor chips from the Clone Wars show. It completely ruined the meticulous political planning of Palpatine and the true loyalty/mentality of the clones.

Somehow, Star Wars Reading Club returned.
The Outer Rim Sieges also played a key part in making sure the Jedi Order was spread across the galaxy when the Order was given. By removing most of the Orders most powerful Jedi from the Temple made them easier to hit. Imagine had Yoda, Windu, Kenobi, Plo Koon, Fisto and the other thousands of powerful Jedi Masters and Knights been at the temple that night.
I would also add creating of another secret clone army on centax 2, moon of the coruscant, where he used Spartii technology (full grown clone in 1 year but also 100 years old in 10 years). In that way he created army that overwhelm separatist and jedi. Also he will create another secret flet with new victory 1 and imperator class (later now as imperial) star destroyers, that were intorudced in battle of coruscant.

@@xjadit7826 You are the one who is underestimating Disney's influence on Lucasfilm. Disney provide creative direction, financial support, and oversee the expansion of the Star Wars franchise. This integration allows for close control and alignment with the overall Disney brand.

another factor is that for 35 years, there’s no other “continuity” to compare it to. (Aside from what has been said of Lucas and his thoughts on the EU). Outside of the 2003 microseries vs CGI Clone Wars debates, fans were reading, playing, watching, and buying things left and right like there’s no tomorrow.
After Disney acquired Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm went on to create a new continuity, all of a sudden, we’ve been getting bogus claims of “quality vs quantity” and “consoomer” (when Lucasfilm has churned out Star Wars products for about 35 years before the acquisition without any backlash whatsoever) or “shill” (even though I know a lot of EU fans, myself included, have a love/hate relationship with the current canon and yet would defend it on some reasonable grounds (aka against gatekeepers).

The biggest reason was actually in how it gave an immediate reason for a swifter end to the war that put more jedi out into the field instead of concentrated in their virtual fortress of a temple. More would have survived if they weren't pre-emptively isolated and surrounded on the battlefield.
There is a real world historical example of this . Friday the 13th. Fall of the Knights templar.

Ive finally gotten around to reading (listening to at work) some legends books and i did outbound flight for thrawns intro and it was sooo good. Im gonna move on to hier to the emipre when i finish the republic commando series. What is your favorite legends book with thrawn in it?
I still like the bio chips explanation. This supplementing the chips makes it way better, but the chips actually do a lot in explaining both how the clones could turn so quickly on their Jedi generals without any hesitation, and why the Jedi couldn’t sense the betrayal.
What if the Jedi instead of trying to arrest Palpatine (After Grevious's death) called for a special senate meeting to award and praise him for his leadership and ask that he stay as leader indefinitely?

Because seasons 1 to 6 of TCW are part of Legends continuity, the inhibitor chips also are, tho from in-universe perspective their role in Order 66 seems to be far more limited compared to new Canon.

The most intense game of 4d chess ever
Essentially the war was orchestrated to accomplish two things; one was to destabilize the Republic and two was to weaken the Republic's greatest protectors the Jedi.
Because of this Palpatine was able to capitalize on the turmoil of the conflict to gain political power and since the Jedi were needed on the front lines their numbers was stretched thin by the end of the war.
Not that I blame them, after all they were fighting to save lives. But due to the situation the strongest members of the order were forced to scattered all across the galaxy, this combined with the element of surprise was a major factor in why Order 66 was so devastating when it happened and afterwords when operation Knightfall began most Jedi on the Temple were either padawans or low level knights hence why Vader managed to slay so many. The only ones that could possibly put up a fight were Master Shaak Ti and Cin Drallig.
Fun fact: It have almost been 19 years since Order 66 was given. Which means we are about to cross over into A New hope distance.
You gotta love politics, if they are done well. It might not necessarily be easy to adapt onscreen, but in books in particular its often a real joy to read.

Iv always really hated the whole Brain Inhibitor Chips Idea in the clones. It was stupid. I mean the whole purpose of Kamino Training was to teach these clones to Obay the Special Orders. So there was no point with the stupid brain chips. Sorry. I grew up reading Legends novels and when they re wrote the clones having these brain chip thingies that made them do things when activated I thought it was beyond unnecessary. But a huge part of Star Wars is Unnecessary things in order to keep selling Product :)
You know Star Wars canon is ok…at least when comes to comics and tv shows are concerned…but the old eu canon really was more deep and complex, guess that so many people prefer the eu over “official” canon. 0:05

Depends on the actual goal. If it is just ending the jedi as an organized group spanning the galaxy, then they would have suceeded. But then what?? They wouldnt get the power. They wanted power beyond all else. So order 66 had to w8.

The bio chips were introduced in season 6 of the clone wars tho... that was before disney delayered the "Canon/legends" divide... making them part of the EU ( the real canon as disney is just REALY poor fanon imo)

I honestly don't mind the chips. It makes sense to me to have layers and backups. You "brainwash" them at Kamino and the chip is a failsafe. Like the Sith would leave room for error at that point? No brainwashing/indoctrination is ever fool proof. *Any* confusion, delay, or infighting allows more potential escapes of Jedi.
Besides the chips help make the turn/attack on the Jedi more believable, for me. The whole "the Jedi didn't sense the change since there was no malice" thing. The clones are interesting characters either way, IMO. Just my 2 cents.

I still prefer the Inhibitor Chips over what happened in Legends. The chips makes the clones turning on the Jedi far more tragic in my opinion. Palpatine has created millions of lives, only to strip them of their freewill and personalities and turn against the Jedi that they saw as brothers and sisters in arms and as friends.
@@cadeshanley218 The biochips was created to satisfy a younger and naive audience. But in fact the Clones were always machines of flesh created by the Sith to eradicate the Jedi. Star Wars is more darker than you realize
