These types of potions are very interesting. I always used water and crystals when i used to make my elixirs, known more commonly in the internet as crystal essence.
I do, but I use sunlight far less than moonlight. I'm all about absorbing that power of intuition. When I feel like I need energy, I'm definitely going for sunlight.

Is it okay if i make potions and do other witchy stuff just because i think it sounds fun and neat, but with the mindset that it's a placebo/a manifestation of my desires so i dont forget them and can actively work on them, or is that like, not chill??
What you're describing is basically magick anyway. What you call a placebo, I call magick. When you set an intention, you get results. My understanding of that phenomenon is occult based, and yours might be mundane, but at the end of the day, results still happen. If it works for you, I say do it!

There is undeniable wisdom and effectiveness that comes with forming a relationship to the other side like that. I'm just not entirely sure if that relationship is a stark necessity for effective magick in general. I'm saying this with two things in mind. Firstly, my mind jumps to the philosophy of natural magick, the kind we often see in Renaissance era occult material, such as Agrippa's work. Which was essentially the philosophical answer to the church's displeasure with necromancy....(which is kind of funny because the Catholic church left behind a lot of necronomic manuels, lol.) Another point I'm considering in this is the very nature of the human spirit and our own connection to the energetic realm as spiritual beings. I think it's a common belief that humans have the capability to change reality based on the philosophy of as above so below. The energetic mirrors the physical. So by tweaking the energetic through the mental gymnastics of clear intention and unwavering faith in what you are making true, the physical realm changes to accommodate those changes manually made to the energetic half of reality. Of course, these are all just philosophies and theories, but it's very fun to explore nonetheless.

I see ingredients as what makes the physical potion and correspondences as other things I use to charge the potion. Good luck with your potion making! It's a fun variation to casting spells, especially if you connect with the element of water.
I thought a potion had to be a magical drink brewed using water, since it's the same kind of etymology as potable or hippopotamous (water horse) and the latin word for "I drink" being "poto", with the other things described being, in all cases, some other liquid materia magica that is not a potion. It's interesting to see this evolution of the use of the word in the art through generalization, and definitely an important note for when purchasing potions made by others so as to know that just because it's called a potion doesn't make it something one should drink.
I get them at my local crafts store, which is Micheals. I know amazon has them too though. Also the dollar store near me has really neat bottles, but it's hit and miss shopping there.
I think most witches make their enchanted waters. Moon/Sun water is really easy to do. Just let your water soak up some light from either the moon or the sun. If you are planning on drinking the water, make sure you stay away from plastics. Leaving plastic water bottles in the sun releases chemicals into the water.
Moon water is water that has been charged by the moon, usually the full moon. It takes on all the properties of the moon and its great for potion making. I also use it to enhance intuition, and to water my plants lol.
